After retiring from the beater's position, and the unfortunate death of his wife years ago, Kaleb had a lot on his plate. He had two kids that he had to look over. Mihail and Selvanna, who the latter looked similar to their mom in a way. Mihail took after him in almost every way, but he managed to inherit the golden eyes of Kaleb's mother. At least they were old enough to be left alone in the Obsidian harbor, while Kaleb kept an eye while on a bench. He rubbed his hands together, with his left hand missing the wedding band that he took off a year ago. Kaleb watched as the brother and sister went inside the restaurant to get something to eat. Kaleb, himself, was not too hungry at all. He tugged his jacket around him a little tighter, since it was a little chilly right now, with winter arriving. The former beater clasped his hands together, and waited for his two kids. It hurt, since he wanted more kids for his growing his family. But, without his wife, it kind of ruined it. Oh well, as long as his kids were happy, he would be satisfied.

Returning to New Zealand was probably the hardest decision Makaylah had to make after several years of being away. She kept away for some reasons, one of them involved her ex-boyfriend, Colin. It's as if his existence disappeared, entirely. Makaylah found it strange there was no eyewitness of him to report back to her. She hired a private detective and everything, gave it her all to find out what's become of him. Evidently, she gave up trying to find her first love. It wouldn't fix anything, anyways. Makaylah gave up that fight. It's New Zealand, a lovely country no doubt. She didn't mind the country, it's these old memories. They seem to haunt her, more frequently now that she has returned. Makaylah took to strolling the Harbour when staying in doors felt like she was a caged animal. She was so used to warm Hawaii sun and being able to walk out sleeveless. Not here, she wore a well fitted pea coat to protect her from the chilly air outside. On one of her strolls, Makaylah sat down at bench next to a man. Like she had done occasionally, Makaylah pulled a small brown pouch of bird seeds. Makaylah toss some seeds out, watching as these small birds flock to eat the seeds. There weren't that many, as so many birds have already migrated. Some of the braves ones held back, as if they were afraid to leave their homes or can handle the winter cold. Makaylah couldn't tell the reason for them to stay behind.

Kaleb was so focused in thought that he barely noticed a woman sit down next to him. What he did notice were birds flying around to eat seeds that somehow appeared. Kaleb glanced over to see where the seeds came from to see a woman next to him. Curious. Why has he not felt something before? Yet, there was something oddly familiar about her. Like many others around here, they all attended the same school at some point in their lives so he dubbed that as the reason why she was familiar to him. At least she was attractive. He looked at women before but he never made a move. After all, he feared history would repeat itself. Saying hi won’t hurt anything, right? “Lovely weather we are having.” Kaleb was used to the bitter cold of Bulgarian so this was nothing compared to what he was I’m used to.

Makaylah pause from tossing seeds to the birds gathering in front of them. "Is it for you? I wouldn't call this lovely," Makaylah commented. In comparison, it wasn't Hawaii. "It's not so bad," though she added, facing the man. To not come across negative, Makaylah tried to reason with the man. Taking a good look at her neighbor, Makaylah felt like she knew the man from somewhere, someplace? "Could be a little more decent," the witch turns away as not to stare for too long. Makaylah resumed feeding the birds again. After so many years as historian and giving tour guides all the time, she still was bad at small chatter after Hogwarts. Makaylah hope it didn't show to the oddly, pleasant stranger.
