Kate walked into the Hufflepuff common room.Her dress for the Yule Ball had arrived yesterday and she was already in love with it.It was a long red one that fitted her perfectly/It hung loosely around her so it didn't outline who under weight she was.It made her looked quite normal actually and she couldn't wait to add everything to it.Kate wasn't usually into dresses as such but when it cae to the Yule Ball she tried to make the most of it because it only came once a year.In the muggle world there was usually just the debs(prom) and that only came in sixth year which was the last year for secondary school in Ireland anyways,she didn't know how the school systems in other countries worked.She had hung her dress back up and had changed her clothes.It was in the afternoon and she had no more classes.They were mostly study classes anyways.She had never skipped class before except for after the first and third Rumor Has It magazines,the first time she had been to annoyed and upset,after the third she just wasn't bothered facing the looks from everyone and she had gone to comfort Alyssa who had been very upset about what had been written about her and Kate didn't blame her,it had been horrible and Alyssa seemed to have gone through a lot before though Kate didn't know any of the details.Kate almost felt like an expert when it came to the magazine.She and a few others had been in the magazine every time.She still didn't understand why her.She didn't remember making any enemies or annoying anyone.It was a mystery to her and she would probably never find out why her and who wrote it.
This year at the Yule Ball she would be playing her violin in the quartet,newly formed.She was looking forward to it.She had never played her violin at a concert,she had played with Sapphire at the beginning of the year but never had she played at a Ball.It would be a new experience,she didn't know if the Glee club would be singing.If they were sh would be a busy woman that night.She hoped she and Stefan were going together.It would be a year since he gave her the necklace,she still wore it.She never took it off,except for when she went swimming of a shower.It meant a lot to her.She would have to juggle the glee club,the violin and hopefully Stefan all through the night.She hoped she would enjoy it,she usually did.She walked along the corridors of the school.It wasn't that busy as some students had class.It looked nice enough to walked outside so Kate walked out the main doors onto the Hogwarts Grounds.The lake was sparkling in the sun and it smelled as if someone had just cut the grass.She wondered how they did that,electrical things didn't seem to work her so they probably had a spell to cut it.Since it was spring the leaves were coming out of their buds and all sorts of flowers were making their appearance.It was weird to have Christmas in the heat.To think in England they were getting rain and the days were getting shorter and colder.When she went home for the holidays she would get a big surprise.It was the same all the time.Her body and body clock would have to change complete for a few days before changing completely again.At the beginning she had suffered from jet lag but now she was used to it.
Instead of going to the Rosebush like she had planned she made her way to the Cliff.She liked the cliff,it was nice listening to the waves crashing against the rocks below.She had loved doing that in Ardmore.She would lay on her bed and night and listen to the waves crashing against the beach in the distant,some nights the rain and wind would also be heard.Since the house had no ceiling ,the rain and wind could be heard really clearly.Living in England meant living inland.The beach was miles away and usually her dad couldn't get time off work so they never went to the beach much.She counted down the days till they went to Ardmore or Clonea.Kate was a complete water baby,she loved everything about the water.Waves were her favorite,she usually wouldn't go swimming of it was came a)because it would be way harder to get used to the freezing water and b)it wasn't any fun.Waves gave such a thrill.Jumping over them,going under,doing tumbles either against or with them.It was the best craic ever and she missed it terribly during the school year.Jumping off things into the water was also a hobby of her.There was a pier in Ardmore that was used to dock small boats but that only took up one side.The back wall and corner were left free and even though they were the highest they were the best to jump off.Kate continued up to where a single tree stood at the top of the cliff.She walked over to it and sat down.Once comfortable she closed her eyes and listened to the waves
