Melrose was primed to try and grab the quaffle, maybe they could still catch up- Until he heard the French seeker let out shout, his shoulders dropping. There went his one chance at getting to New Zealand and seeing Lucy again. Was it too late to transfer teams? No. Hopefully no one on the team...
Melrose tried to ignore what sounded suspiciously like the seekers starting to talk to themselves (maybe better than theirs getting hit by their own beater he supposed) and honed in on the French keeper. He had the advantage having intercepted the quaffle and nearly sagged off his broom in...
Rule 2b
Melrose hung back, waiting as the keeper threw the quaffle back into play. Between him and Kit though he could see an opening, forcing the keeper to throw it into a space Melrose was able to quickly fill, scooping up the quaffle and giving them another chance to try and even the score.
Melrose was all game to support Kit. Until Kit threw him the quaffle. He had enough time to give her an "are you sure" look before they were close enough to the hoops. He'd hoped the pass would help them dodge the keeper, but Melrose had a bad angle, fumbling the shot.
Melrose had hoped they could keep the scores even or maybe even creep into the lead but Beauxbatons scored again and he dropped his head. Kit had the quaffle again though so they had a chance. Melrose stuck close to support her as they moved back up the pitch.
Melrose picked up the pace when he realized the French chaser was still on his tail. He still had a gap thanks to the bludger though and Melrose let out a whoop that surprised even him when the extra space was just enough to line up a shot and let the quaffle fly through the hoop as he threw it.
Melrose groaned when Beauxbaton's took the lead again, though he had to grimace in sympathy as the chaser who scored then immediately took a hit from Larissa. Hoping to capitalize, Melrose scooped up the quaffle, heading back up the pitch.
Melrose could relate to the French chaser missing but he didn't have time to commiserate, following at Kit took the quaffle and cheering as she managed to even up the score. Waiting for the quaffle to be thrown back out, he tried awkwardly to offer Kit a high five.
Melrose took after the French chaser when she grabbed the quaffle, hesitating before flying in close. It was an awkward attempt at trying to get the quaffle back, but he was trying.
Melrose gripped his broom a little tighter, lingering back near the hoops and watching the keeper closely as he waited for the quaffle to be thrown back in.
Melrose had gotten out ahead of the others, glancing over his shoulder as someone shot past in search of a bludger or the snitch. Now or never, he decided, lobbing the quaffle at the hoops and dropping his head as it missed again. No way he was going to impress Lucy playing like this.
Melrose followed after Kit, trying to help her keep up with the Beaux chaser but it wasn't enough to stop them scoring again. He grabbed the quaffle, trying to keep an eye out for Kit or Hadrian this time as he crossed back over the pitch.
Melrose spotted Kit nearby, wondering if it was bad form not to pass to his captain or not. But he was closing in on the hoops fast and the other teams chasers were making him jumping. Melrose wanted to be bold, so he tossed the quaffle in a hard overarm throw, groaning as the shot didn't make...
Melrose wished he didn't get so sweaty Before they started playing, it meant he was even sweatier once he was actually on his broom. He did his best to keep up with the other chasers as the quaffle moved back and forth across the pitch, finally moving in to grab it as Beauxbatons missed their...
Melrose tried to remind himself he was going to be bold and dive into Quidditch this year, even as his stomach sank as Kit described the new move she wanted them to practice. Why couldn't he have been a Keeper instead.
He caught the quaffle after Kit scored, glancing her questioningly. "So I...
Melrose was pretty sure if Lucy told him she could do anything with that tone of voice he'd nod along and do it. As such, he found himself nodding along as Lucy explained an honestly pretty reasonable plan.
"And then what we just... Drink it?" Melrose asked, wishing he didn't always have to...
Melrose jumped a foot in the air when someone elbowed him, half expecting to see his dad telling him off for not being social or something. Instead, it was the girl he'd been not to subtly trying to drum up the courage to start talking to and Melrose wasn't sure if he was relieved or not that...
Melrose had come back into the Quidditch season this year with a fire. Meeting Lucy had been eye opening and he knew if he wanted even a chance to see her again, see her and really impress her this time, they needed to do well in the international competition.
He was ready to work hard, but he...
Melrose felt very outplace here, and not just because he was convinced he was going to spill something on his nice shirt and get yelled at. Most of the people here were way older than him or way younger than him and Melrose didn't feel comfortable trying to talk to either of them. He could see...
