Jasper opened his eyes and smiled down at Candy. Then he looked up at the ceiling. He didn't want to wake her up. She looked so peaceful in her sleep. So at ease with the world. He didn't want her to lose that.

Jas ran his fingers through her hair and stroked her cheek.
