Dallas smiled and waved to the creature in the lake. He noticed her beckon him into the water and shook his head a little. He wasn't sure whether he wanted to go swimming with merpeople in a lake that was home to a giant squid.

As Dallas was looking across the lake he noticed a splash in the lake. Then he saw something somersault... a merperson? He carried on watching, entranced, to see if the creature would appear again.

Dallas sat all alone with his feet in the sparkling water of the lake. He always seemed to be alone. He sighed. In some ways he missed the little kids at the orphanage bugging him to play their stupid make believe games. But now he had no-one, so spent the day watching the giant squid swimming...
