Gaia had finally gotten a moment of actual peace, between unpacking and settling in and her sister Mania constantly pestering her to show around the Slytherin hadn't actually gotten a moment to just hang out by herself yet. There'd always been someone or something else, but today she'd escaped to the Student Lounge with her sketchbook. She'd started drawing a dragon, her hair was in a messy bun and her brows were very close together as she focused on the drawing. It was nothing but an outline of one she remembered seeing at a sanctuary they'd visited in Romania once. They were beautiful and so grand the image of it was forever printed to the first years memory. The only thing missing was maybe her headphones for some classical music, but it was okay since it was quiet too so it was perhaps even better she had no headphones or electronics for that matter.

Jun was slowly adjusting to everything. It was a different environment, to basically be stuck at school all day every day. He was checking out the different spots indoors that he was allowed to visit. The library had been briefly interesting, but now he was looking at the student lounge. Quite a few people were there, it turned out. He wandered slowly and noticed a girl on her own, probably around his age, sketching. This piqued his curiosity. He approached, thinking carefully over what he'd say. "Hi," he settled on, once he arrived. "I'm, uh, an artist too." He gave a gentle smile. "Do you mind if I join you? Or are you busy?" He hedged his bets, letting her choose whichever she felt more comfortable with.

Gaia was lost in the drawing when she heard a voice speak to her, raising her eyes up to meet the newcomer she felt a soft blush at the way he said he was an artist too. As though her sketches could be called art. "Uh yeah, I mean it is a common space after all, no?" She said with a small smile, she wasn't the best at talking with people mainly because she preferred to be on her own though art was the way to get to her surely. "Do you draw too then, or?" Gaia asked returning her eyes to the dragon that was slowly forming on her paper, really it was just dark outlines for now but soon enough it'd at least look the part of a dragon. Hopefully.

Jun shyly smiled, then took a seat opposite the girl. "Uh, yeah, I draw. I prefer to paint, but sketching is fun too." He glanced at the drawing the girl was doing. He paused thoughtfully. "Is that...a dragon?" he asked, sort of seeing the shape emerging. "My name's Jun, by the way." He took out a sketchpad from his bag, placing it on the table. He got out a set of pencils and flipped the pages to a barely started sketch that at that moment resembled a bunch of lightly-drawn shapes.

Gaia felt much easier knowing the boy was into art too, it was common ground. "I like to do a bit of both too but mainly just drawing." She said and her movement faltered as the boy said if it was a dragon. She blinked once. Twice. Yes it was a dragon, "Yes they are my favourite. I saw one in Romania a while back," She explained looking back up at the boy. "I'm Gaia," The Slytherin introduced herself in return watching as the boy pulled out his own art supplies. For the first time since getting to the school someone joining her company didn't feel like an invasion of privacy, it felt nice even. "What are you drawing?" Gaia asked curiously, surprising even herself with it.

OOC: I am so used to prickly Gaia but who knew she could be actually nice. xD

Jun listened attentively, glad to have found someone who also enjoyed art. "Dragons are pretty cool," he said. "Are they scary in person though?" he asked, curious how she found them. He then addressed her question. "I'm trying to draw a unicorn," he said with a shy smile. The sketch was mostly circles and other shapes, clearly meant as guidelines for drawing the parts of the creature. "It's nothing much yet, I only just started."

Considering the question for a second Gaia shook her head. "No, I think they are fascinating and sort of cute too? I don't know I have always loved them." They were kind of cute at least in her opinion. Looking at Jun's drawing that was so far just the directional shapes she nodded. "I mean its a process, sketching I mean. Just like you said, you just started so it doesn't have to look much yet." She said with a small smile, "Do you like unicorns then? Or you just drawing something for fun?" Gaia asked, not sure why but she kind of wanted to know more about the boy or maybe just why he'd chosen Unicorn as his chose creature to draw.

(Sorry for being a bit late with the reply, time kind of got away from me)

Cute? Jun was taken aback by that, but decided not to press the issue. He didn't really agree, but he hardly wanted to challenge her opinion just because of that. That would be self-sabotage. He smiled at her instead. It was sort of charming of her to love dragons, in a way. "Yeah, I like unicorns," he said, a little abashed. "I like beautiful things. Not really...a guy-like thing, is it?" He smiled as though it wasn't a point of contention for him. "But one day I want to make the most beautiful painting I can. One day." He half-mumbled the later part, returning his eyes to his drawing. He wondered if she felt similarly - if she had similar goals in mind.

(no problem, I've been slow with replies anyway lately so I can't judge!)

Gaia smiled, which felt like a lot of smiles lately since her default setting was a frown but she wasn't opposing it, unicorns were pretty that was true. "It doesn't really matter. I think it's stupid, societal standards of what boys and girls should and shouldn't like that is." The Slytherin said reassuringly. It was true she didn't think they or their interests should be defined by their genders. Gaia returned to her own sketch drawing the wings on the dragon slowly. "I think you'll achieve that. I'd like to make a picture book sort of thing one day. Or like study dragons and then make an anatomical guide or something. That's what I do of all the creature's I find interesting, I draw them and add whatever facts I can find." She admitted a bit shyly maybe, she'd once told of this dream before but back then it was met with discourage.
