Lilith was happy to be back to school, it was honestly maybe even better than back at home at this point. She supposed that spending two years mostly in one building, sleeping, studying, socializing and much more would do that to a person. It had transformed from a school to a home within her first year already and more so in her second year. Though it was still weird that Tori wasn't there with them, but at least they'd already started writing letters back and forth. Lilith had tried out to the Quidditch team again too, she was hoping to get the permanent Seeker position in the team, she thought she had a pretty good chance but there was always the possibility of things not going the way she thought they would.

As Lilith walked into the student lounge she was met with a particularly peculiar view, a blonde girl was hanging off the sofa. Sort of in an upside down position, reading a book. She looked like a bat sort of. Walking closer the Ravenclaw wasn't all that surprised it was a certain Hufflepuff, Susie. Giving a soft laugh Lilith walked closer before speaking. "That cannot be comfortable are you doing a ritual of some sort? Ooh perhaps you are trying to turn into a batman?" She asked with a grin on her face as she stopped in front of the girl.

Susie hadn’t slept well. There was a lot on her mind - Freddie at the forefront of it all, but Tori and schoolwork not far behind - and she was kept awake by looping visions of disaster. Something bad was coming, she just knew it. Call it anxiety, call it a hunch - by any name, it was giving her a headache.

She had finally got into a comfortable position, upside down, neck hanging off the seat cushion, when Lilith appeared. “Yeah! I’m summoning a hag to come and get my brother.” Something in Susie’s tone suggested that, although she was joking about trying to summon one, she would happily give a passing hag directions to the Ravenclaw common room. “I had a headache. I think all the blood in my face is helping. Do I look red?”

Lilith raised an amused brow at Susie who was talking about summoning a hag to get her brother. "Ah yes, the joys of having a younger brother. Can't wait for Leo and Leena to start here. I bet I'll be having similar thoughts of hag abduction about Leo..." She agreed with a sigh before plopping herself down on the sofa. "Your brother is a Ravenclaw, no?" Lilith asked curiously, recalling hearing the name Wilfred Lagowski and Ravenclaw shouted not long after. Examining Susie's face the brunette noted a hint of red, but nothing too bad. "Yeah it is quite red but not quite enough to pass as a tomato yet!" She said giving the Hufflepuff a small grin.

Everybody complained about their younger siblings, but Susie couldn’t imagine Lilith had ever had to restrain her little brother because he was trying to destroy their school’s art exhibition. She’d never been called out of class because Leo was lying in the middle of the corridor, screaming his head off, and she was the only person who knew how to calm him down. The last two years had been so peaceful, so easy, that Susie had almost forgotten how much stress Freddie had put her through, but now he was here, and he’d already punched a boy in the stomach, and something told her it was only the beginning of a new nightmare.

She sighed, turning herself upright. Her headache immediately returned. “Yep. Sorry,” she said. Normally, she would have laughed at Lilith’s joke, but today she could barely a muster a convincing smile. “What’s Leo like?”

Lilith watched Susie with keen eye, there was something about her demeanor. Her usual spark seemed a bit dulled by perhaps worry? "Sorry? He hasn't been any trouble for me, if anything I am glad to have more bright Ravenclaws around and if he is anything like you even better." She said and tilted her head a little at the question about her brother. Lilith took a seat as she pondered over how to go about explaining Leo in the best way possible.

"I love Leo but he can be exhausting. He is very keen to take care of me and Leena, which fine Leena is his little sister but I can take care of myself just fine but he kind of insists on protecting me anyways, despite being four years younger than me." Lilith gave a soft laugh, her mind instantly going to the moment Leo had found out about her and Eoghan and proceeded to let her boyfriend know he was watching the blond. How was he going to do that from halfway across the world? Lilith couldn't even begin to imagine. She moved her hands to her lap before continuing, "He has a bit of a tendency of getting into trouble, I don't think he means to but he doesn't exactly think before doing always..." And that was putting it lightly, he'd always had a tendency of just going for it. When he'd been five he'd charger off to the deep end of the lake from the docks, he couldn't even swim yet. Only after he was in the water had he stopped to think and even then he'd just laughed like it was funny everyone else were worried and running after him. "He is a great kid but it is a lot," Lilith said turning to look at Susie once more. "How are you feeling, like generally?" She asked, not able to help herself and the worry from seeping into her tone.

Freddie was bright - the brains of the family, in fact. The problem was that he used those brains to cause trouble. Auntie Thalia was always lamenting that he could do so much more if only he'd stop messing around, but he just wasn't interested. The more she pushed him, the harder he rebelled. He was impossible to negotiate with. Lilith obviously hadn't seen the bad side of him yet - the side that would throw things at the teacher because they asked him to sit properly in his chair. Susie tried to sympathise with him, but it was hard.

Comparatively, Leo sounded like a great kid. Wanted to take care of his sisters? A bit impulsive? That was just standard brother stuff, right? Still, Susie understood; it was stressful trying to keep your little siblings out of trouble. Being related to you, they also seemed to think it was OK to treat you like crap most of the time. Or maybe that was just Freddie again.

Susie hugged her knees. How was she feeling? "Tired," she said. "See, Leo's a great kid. Freddie's... Ugh. He's not bad. I don't know how to explain this. He's not mean - but he is - but he's not. I don't think he wants to be. It's just, he gets mad, and there's a wall, and he doesn't listen to anyone, and he aaaalways thinks he's right, and he doesn't talk to me, or anybody - he just bottles things up, and then - boom." Susie glanced around, then dropped her voice to a whisper. "He punched Demi's little brother! I don't know what to do. He's such a nightmare."

Lilith gave a sympathetic look to Susie, she did look tired. She listened to the Hufflepuff's explanation about her brother without interrupting her once. It felt like something Susie needed to get out and Lilith would gladly lend an ear. Lilith let Susie finish before grimacing at the mention of Demi's brother. "Not that I approve of violence but knowing very well how Demi is, there might have been something that ticked Freddie off in her brother's actions or words. It rarely is just that simple that someone decided to punch another person for fun. Leo once punched a boy five years older than him because the boy said I constantly look like I'm lost." Granted it had been uncalled for and Leo had already been annoyed at the boy, but her point was it usually ran deeper than just wanting to punch someone.

"If you'd like I could keep an eye on him? Not like stalking or anything but just whenever I see him around the common room make sure he is okay and stuff?" Lilith offered gently, not wanting to overstep but Susie seemed so helpless in the situation the Ravenclaw felt the need to try and help in any way.

Huh. That was a point. Maybe being annoying ran in the Zephyr family. When Tori had punched Demi, Susie had practically celebrated - but that was because she knew Tori would never do it without good reason. Freddie didn’t need a reason. He was just aggressive. That was what Susie had always thought, anyway. If he did have a reason, he usually kept it to himself. But maybe Lili was right. Maybe Demi’s brother had been teasing him, or making up rumours, or being a jerk. There had to be something, didn’t there? Freddie didn’t just go around punching everybody. It was like that time he admitted he’d only cursed at his teacher because she’d ignored him when he’d said his leg hurt. Suddenly, it had all made sense. “Aw,” Susie said. “He was looking out for you. That’s nice. I guess you’re right - Demi’s brother must have said something. It’s still not okay, though. He’s gotta control himself.”

Susie looked up, surprised. Lili would do that for her? Even though her brother was a total nightmare? That was the sweetest thing anybody had ever offered. “Are you sure? Maybe if you see him on his own, you could just… say hi?” Susie shook her head. “Oh, you don’t have to. He’s a lot. Forget I said it, honestly - it’s okay. Thank you so much, Lili.” Maybe he could have used a good role model, but it wasn’t fair to ask Lili to be one. Susie knew how exhausting that could be.

Lilith nodded as she saw the cogs turning in Susie's head and then gave a small laugh. "Yeah I agree punching is still not okay, but perhaps there is a reason for it other than him doing it for fun." She said and gave a smile, it was true Leo had also done it to protect Lilith which in her opinion had been foolish but a sweet gesture nevertheless. She missed her siblings and should probably write to them soon.

The Ravenclaw was about to say she'd say hi to Susie's brother when the Hufflepuff seemed to come into different thought. Shaking her head she took Susie's hand in her own. "No no, I don't mind." She reassured her friend. "If I see him around I'll say hi to him and keep an eye out. I don't mind at all. You are my friend Susie and if it can bring you some peace of mind knowing there's someone looking out for him while you can't, I'll gladly do it." Had the situation been the other way around, Lilith too would have felt better knowing someone was keeping an eye out for Leo.

Susie nodded. Maybe she should talk to Freddie again. It was always hard to predict whether he would open up or shut down, and she hated to push him - if she wasn’t careful, he’d give her the silent treatment. She just wanted to understand him, that was all. How could she help him if she didn’t understand?

She felt a lump in her throat as Lili went on. Why was she being so nice? Susie hadn’t done anything to deserve such good friends. Of course, she would have done the same for Lili, but she was often too wrapped up in her own worries to notice when her friends could use some help. “Thanks, Lili,” she said, tucking her hair behind her ear. “He acts really tough, but… I don’t know. He’s been through a lot.” They all had - but Susie had coped better, somehow. “Maybe Leo will be a Hufflepuff. Then I can look out for him.”

Lilith gave a soft smile as Susie accepted her offer of help. She was glad to help. "Of course, no need to thank me for it, it is quite alright." She assured again, leaning a bit back now that that was settled. A strangled laugh crawled its way up her throat at the comment of Leo being a Hufflepuff. "If only, I fear he takes after our father who was a Gryffindor in Scotland, though he has some of mum's Slytherin traits too... Leena is more likely to be a Hufflepuff I'd say, but if they do either end in Hufflepuff I'll be glad to know there's someone that can keep an eye out for them." The Ravenclaw responded with a smile. It'd be a few years yet and she could only hope her siblings would have as good of a time at the school as she already had.

"What about you, I mean other than tired and stressed over your brother. Is there anything in particular you are looking forward to this year?" Lilith asked curiously, they'd be having electives this year so it'd make sense if there was a subject or two Susie might be waiting or excited for.

"Well then, Tori can look out for him! Or, um... Lumos? Amory?" Susie said. She didn't really talk to any Slytherins, but she was sure someone would always have Lili's back - she was the sort of girl you couldn't help but like. "Of course! I can be everyone's big sister."

The Hufflepuff leaned back, fiddling with her runestone necklace. Huh. She'd been so busy worrying about everyone else, she hadn't even really thought about what she was looking forward to. "We-ell, I signed up for Runes. Did I tell you? I was on the fence, but... it could be fun. Are you taking it as well?"
