Jono felt more than saw Sofi right on his tail, putting on some speed. It was surprisingly exciting, having someone neck and neck with him like this, Jono just hoped he could catch the snitch this time instead of randomly running into it.
Whatever Sofi had seen, it seems like she had lost it. Jono sighed, glancing around the pitch before he thought he saw something darting behind Sofi. With a muttered apology, Jono shot past her after it.
Jono let his broom rise a little higher. He was wary of going too high, grateful the snitch hadn't sent him and Sofi too far above the hoops, but Jono had a feeling he shouldn't count on that always being the case, eying the sky overhead warily.
Jono tried to stretch out his legs, not used to sitting on a broom for this long. The muscle aches were definitely not a part of playing sports that he missed.
Jono decided to drop closer to the ground, really giving the snitch a break before he and Sofi pursued it again. Plus, Quidditch was more tiring than he'd thought, so it was nice to take a breather a little closer to Earth.
Jono was quick to turn his broom around, deciding to put a little more space between him and the other players. He jerked to a stop as he nearly ran into the snitch again, quickly righting his course and shooting after it. It was a short chase, Jono was already starting to feel a little better...
Jono gave a stilted nod, pulling away on his broom and giving Sofi and the snitch some space. Once again, he was glad he didn't have another team mate to have to coordinate with while playing seeker.
Jono saw Sofi make a grab for the snitch she'd just released, shooting forward to let her more or less chase it right into him so he could snatch it out of the air before she did. "Uh. Thanks," he said sheepishly, considering it kinda seemed like she'd help with that one, before letting it go...
Jono watched Sofi put on a burst of speed, wondering if he should actually be paying more attention to her than just aimlessly flying till he saw something. Then he saw her stop and figured maybe not. Until he saw her snag the snitch effortlessly out of the air right after. Right. So paying...
Jono thought he might have seen something moving near the South side of the pitch shooting forward only to have completely lost track of it. How did people spot something so small when the pitch was so big?
Being seeker was kind of perfect, Jono decided. He got to be apart of the team but didn't really need to worry about anyone else while he was playing. Sure, he needed to watch the beaters and the other seeker, but it wasn't like he had to talk to anyone or coordinate a pass or anything. It would...
Jono ducked out of the way of a passing bludger, content he didn't need a reminder of how it felt to run into one. He kept an eye on Sofi, especially when it seemed like she was locking in on her own snitch hunt.
Jono was pleased enough about the snitch catch that he barely even minded the lingering ache from the bludger, letting the snitch loose and easing his broom around the pitch for a quick break.
