Y37 Ilvermorny Quidditch Practice S1

Catching up to a bludger, AJ felt pleased when he had a good angle on it, knocking the bludger towards Hope with a comforting smack. He felt less pleased when the bludger started adding more spin, careening past Hope and into @Zeke Carnahan instead.

Once he got close to the hoop, Hyun realized he had two options. He could try and make a good score, or he could just chuck the quaffle right at the arrogant keeper's face. One option sounded much more fun, so the fourth year decided to do just that, raising his arm back and launching the quaffle right at Adam as hard as he could manage. "Oops," he drawled, not sounding in the least bit apologetic, "My bad"

@Adam Everett

Zeke was abruptly distracted from what he was doing when a bludger slammed into his shoulder. "Ow," he whined, rubbing the spot and sticking his tongue out at the other beater before chasing after the one that hit him.

Adam thought himself more than ready to deal with the incoming newbie, hovering on the spot to try and tell where he'd shoot his shot. His eyes widened in surprise when instead of going for one of the hoops, the quaffle was thrown at his face. He brought his arms up to defend himself, but they grasped at air, and he felt a sharp pain through his nose as the leather ball made contact. He fumbled with it, wrestling it under one arm, while his other held onto the bridge of his nose. "WATCH IT!" He shouted angrily, pegging the quaffle back at him.

AJ gave Zeke a quizzical smile when the other boy stuck his tongue out at him. Not the usual response to being hit, but AJ liked it a lot better than being yelled at he thought, instinctually ducking his head when he heard Adam hollering even if it wasn't directed at him. Spinning his bat in his hand, AJ honed in another another bludger, turning to tail it for hopefully another hit.

Zeke laughed a little at Ajs response, slowing to see why the pretty boy was hollering. He chuckled at what had happened. "Nice blocking," he called out playfully, knowing and not really caring the guy would be mad. The bludger had flown off while Zeke was observing so he turned back to chase it down again.

Eli flew after the bludger he had missed earlier and hit it at a nearby player. He saw it was AJ, and hoped he could deflect it with his own bat. Or not, he didn't care. So far, he was doing great.

@AJ Ari

Lucas was still reeling a little from the bludger hit, but he was aware enough to see what the new boy did. He gasped, covering his mouth with both hands and looking to Einar with wide eyes. Lucas had to bite his tongue to stop himself from giggling, but he wasn't sure if Einar could see the glee he was trying to hide in his eyes.

AJ was focused on the bludger he was chasing that he'd lost sight of the other one until he heard it coming towards him. He raised his bat to try to deflect it back towards Eli, feeling his broom spin out as it impacted at the wrong angle to really stop it from hitting him. AJ mostly succeeded in letting the bludger smack his bat into his chest, and winded, he let the bludger spin away as he righted his broom and shook out his hand from the impact.

Eli cast a glance at AJ to make sure he hadn't like, fallen off his broom. He seemed fine enough, so Eli went on to chase the bludger that had just spun away from him.

Hyun had to hold back a snigger of his own as his plan worked and the older keeper was smacked in the nose. "I did say I was sorry," he just called back, having to quickly duck to avoid getting his own quaffle to the face. But now he had his fun it was time to concentrate, turning on his broom and racing after the quaffle again as it fell.

Adam had to shoot glares left right and center, quickly running out of people he hadn't given the stink eye. These new kids were getting a bit too big for their britches.

Zeke quickly caught up to the bludger, smacking it hard and watching it sail right into the seeker. He shot her a smile, making sure she was okay before sailing off again.

@Hope Thompson

Dominic was not surprised at how quickly practice had devolved into name calling and questionable actions. "Let's keep things friendly folks! No name calling! Positive reinforcement only please!" he shouted so the whole team could hear him. "And let's work on our aim, yeah?" he said, pointedly looking at Hyun before the quaffle was tossed back into play.

AJ knew Dominic's comment wasn't directed at him, but he still waved a hand in sheepish acknowledgement of the aim part. Intentional or not, his could use some work, especially as he watched Zeke knock a bludger straight at Hope that he was too slow to even try to deflect.

Adam smiled a smug smile as Dominic called out everyone except him. He had his few decent captain moments. Or just the one so far. He wasn't keeping track. He hovered between the hoops, hoping that maybe the other players would start trying to be somewhat competent.

Zeke grinned, nodding to Dominic and rushing after a bludger again, this time knocking it right into @Einar Haines. He flashed the kid a grin before flying off again.

Lucas saw the chance and against his better judgement, he swooped in to catch the quaffle, almost looking to see if someone else wanted it before starting back for the hoops again. He winced as he saw Einar get hit, biting his lip and forcing his way on.

Adam scoffed as Ames took possession. At least his weak little throws wouldn't threaten to disfigure his winning facial features.

Dominic gave Lucas an encouraging nod as he grabbed the quaffle. He made sure to follow close behind in case he wanted to pass.

Zeke was managing quite well to knock several bludgers around so AJ decided maybe he could go on the defensive instead. He flew up next to Hope, giving her a quick smile before keeping an eye out for any incoming bludges.

Zeke decided to try one more hit before laying low for a bit, and he almost immediately regretted it. Not because he missed, no, but because he hit it. Straight into the captain. He groaned, shaking his head. "Sorry cap!" He offered a cheeky grin.

Lucas was ready to throw, he was, but as he pulled his arm back he heard the incoming bludger. Unthinkingly, he just hurled the ball forward, ducking so he wasn't hit again. He glanced up, groaning when he saw that not only had it been very easily caught but Dominic had been hit, too.

Adam made a show of tossing the quaffle back into the game, chucking it behind his back and toward the chasers.

Dominic winced as the bludger hit him. "Good job!" he said, his voice a little strained as he gave a thumbs up to Zeke. He frowned as Lucas missed his shot, knowing he was probably going to take it hard. But he took advantage of his position and grabbed the quaffle as it was thrown back in to the game and started on his lap around the pitch, keeping an eye open for Einar or Lucas to pass to if the opportunity presented itself.
