Professor Styx leads the two contestants to the stage, appointing them into the north or south part of the stage. He reveals the rules as well as the point system. He walks off the stage and orders the duel to begin, as he keeps a watchful eye.
OOCOut of Character:
All right, make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.
The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.

Esmè took her position on the dueling platform, looking forward to this battle in particular. She had watched Avie and Ivaylo duel, and how harsh the latter had been against her somewhat incompetent friend. If it had been anyone else, perhaps the witch wouldn't have cared, but she cared too much for Avie to let him be harmed. <COLOR color="seagreen">"Ivaylo." The seeress greeted her opponent with a tone of distaste. She wanted to make him hurt. After taking a bow, she moved first, slashing her wand through the air. "Reducto."

Arriving to the top of the platform, and bowing to his next opponent, which was Esme Lancaster. He knew about this girl. His nephews, two of them had a relationship with her. One being a romantic, and the other strictly platonic. This would be interesting. She greeted him, with some sort of negative feeling within her voice. That was right, she was friends with that pathetic excuse for a prefect, Avie. And Ivaylo humiliated him, so to speak. If the boy could even feel that. He smirked at her instead, and mentally praised her spell selection. He threw up a shield before sending a verbal Confringo her way.

Judging by his spell choice, Ivaylo too seemed to prefer the more intense, destructive spells. Esmè had a feeling that this battle was going to be more difficult than Victoires, and she felt it when she casted a shield against his blast. He definitely packed more of a punch. <COLOR color="seagreen">"Diffindo!" The witch lashed back, hoping to slice the boy to ribbons.

The duel was already heating up, and this was a challenge that Ivaylo was definitely relishing in. He wasn't expecting that sort of spell, and he didn't cast his shield up. He didn't have the time. The spell cut through his flesh on his right shoulder, thankfully not the one with the wand. Ivaylo barely flinched, before he smirked. "Incendio," Ivaylo intoned, casting flames in her direction.

Esmè relished in the moment as Ivaylo's arm was sliced by her spell, a malicious smile on her lips, though her feeling of triumph was short lived as he barely seemed to take any notice of the hit. It caught her off guard, and she barely had time to defend herself against the on-coming flames he had conjured, fighting them with a last minute Aguamenti. The jet of water barely extinguished the fire in time, and the girl could almost feel the searing heat before it sizzled away. Wasting no time she hit back, eager to try crack his exterior and see some real pain. <COLOR color="seagreen">"Confringo!" She shouted, her wand aimed towards the boys feet.

Ivaylo could feel the liquid which was his blood soak where he was cut, but he didn't seem bothered. He was not supposed to show any weakness. Instead, he studied Esme's movements, and guessed what sort of spells she would use next. She managed to use one of the ones that he was thinking of using. He tossed the shield up to protect him from the blast, which thankfully worked. He then sent out, "Langlock." If she couldn't speak, she was out of the duel. Almost civil to how he started.

Even as the boys shirt stained red, he wasn't fazed, which only further infuriated Esme. As he sent his tongue tying curse toward her, she threw up a shield with enough force to knock herself back a few steps, the curse deflecting towards the side of the chamber. Her emotions were getting the better of her, and while it gave her more of a punch, she knew it could also be her downfall. She was not ready to lose yet. Returning fire, the girl lashed out with another Diffindo, wanting to see a sign of weakness.

Upon hearing the spell that Esme cast, Ivaylo decided to take another measure. He moved, but just enough to where the bloody spell would hit him once more, right next to the previous one. Now that caused some pain, but he refused to show it. He didn't hesitate to cast another spell just as her spell hit. He intoned, "Reducto!" Ivaylo knew that this might be a little bit on the dangerous side, but who ever saw someone just let these things hit themselves?

As her severing spell hit Ivaylo for the second time, Esme laughed triumphantly, letting her guard down for just a moment - but it was enough. The boys blasting spell came faster than she could react, her half formed shield shattering as it made contact. Sharp pain flooded the witches body and the ground beneath her feet had disappeared, giving way to splintered air. The Slytherin landed a few feet away from the space she once occupied, the patch of platform now mere rubble, and slid towards the edge. Yet, despite the blast and the fragments of wood splintering her skin, she rose slowly to her feet, wand still in hand. Taking in a sharp, painful breath, Esme raised her wand. <COLOR color="seagreen">"Stupefy." She muttered weakly, casting what would likely be her last spell, a dim jet of light leaving her wand.

Ivaylo smirked as Esme was blasted back by the sheer force of his reducto, and now she was barely standing. He could definitely relish in his victory. He waved his wand and blocked her spell. He sighed, before he said to her, <COLOR color="darkgreen">"Let's end this." He took aim, before unleashing his powerful spell. One she used against him earlier this duel, and his starting point. "Confringo!" If this should hit, it would definitely be poetic. The duel starts and ends with an explosion.

As Ivaylo blocked her last spell, Esme knew it was over. Even as he readied his next spell, the girl made to dodge, swaying to one side while his blasting spell headed for her, destroying the floor in an explosion that launched her off the platform entirely, further covered in a spray of splintered wood. She landed on the cold floor, feeling something in her arm crack. With a defeated groan, she lay still, the smallest of movements causing pain. She had lost, and that hurt more than the spells she'd been hit by.

Kalif knew that this duel was going to be interesting, and interesting it was. As Esme was down for the count, he told Ivaylo to go to the wing to treat his wounds, while he would revive and heal Esme. It was clear who the winner was.
