Yule Ball Shenanigans

Kauri's muggle school had had annual school discos, but he hadn't expected to go to a real formal until he was near the end of his time at high school. He felt so flash, all dressed up in a suit, and he and April having decided to go together as friends was just a great big cherry on top. He had only met April recently, but she was the most fun person he had encountered in a long time, and there was no way the dance wasn't gonna be fun when he was hanging out with her.

Walking into the Great Hall arm in arm with April, Kauri gasped as he looked around. The decorations, the outfits... the Great Hall was already an amazing place to be, with its floating candles and magical ceiling, but this was a whole new level. "Woah..." Kauri breathed, looking around. "It's like a scene from a movie or something!" He looked over at April excitedly. "This is gonna be so cool!"

April was excited to go to the Yule Ball with someone, especially someone as funny and nice as Kauri. She knew the two would be good friends, especially if they had a lot of fun today. She was wearing a white dress and felt pretty as she walked with Kauri, though a lot of the older girls looked like models to her. It was amazing! She looked around at the beautifully decorated hall with a big grin on her face, taking in all the sights around them. "It IS like something from a movie! It's even snowing inside, even though its summer!" She giggled, agreeing with him. "Let's go dance?" She was too eager to start moving, already hopping in place to the music. Without really waiting for him to respond, she started dragging him to the dance floor.

Kauri hadn't really paid much attention to the snow, but now that he was aware of it he realised just how strange it was to see snow at Christmastime. Who had done these decorations? He felt like it might not be someone from New Zealand. Before he could comment though, April was pulling him onto the dancefloor and Kauri laughed, confusion forgotten in the excitement. "Yeah!" He said excitedly, hurrying out onto the dancefloor with April.
