The yule ball being a celebration of the holiday season meant little to Winnie in comparison to the promise of dressing up nicely, and the sole reason she decided to attend that year was to show off the floral printed dress she picked out herself the week before and prove to everyone else in the school how grown up she was despite being a second year. Choosing her own outfit for an important night was the first step into adulthood in her opinion, causing her to feel the epitome of mature as she waltzed down from her dormitory to head to the great hall. Having a date to attend with would have been the cherry to top off the sundae that was the perfect night but unfortunately Winnie had no date to dance with. One thing she did have, however, was the company of Dominique, someone she had known from drama classes for years but had yet to spend any real time with until recently. The girl's company was enjoyable thus far and even if she wasn't an official date, she was absolutely the next best thing. Pausing as she reached the entrance to the great hall, Winnie looked around in search of her friend, not wanting to walk in until the slytherin was by her side.

Domi was super excited for the Yule Ball. Anything to break up the monotony of school. Life without performance opportunities was painfully tedious, but school events were at least an excuse to stand out. She had dressed up cute, and was looking forward to a fun evening with an old friend, since Diana was busy with her date. Domi tried not to be jealous of her friend, taking a boy to the ball, but it was hard to suppress her envy entirely. It would be so nice to be seen with someone handsome and older. Surely Diana was going to have... well, a ball. It was easy to distract herself from her jealousy though, when she was focused on having fun with Winnie, who she spotted right away as she entered the entrance hall, rushing over to wrap her friend in a tight hug. "WINNIIIEEEE!" Domi squealed excitedly, pulling away but keeping a hold on her friend's hands as she looked over her dress. "Oh my god, you look so cute! Look, we've both got florals, twinsies!" She bounced up and down on her toes, beaming with excitement. "Let's go show this dance who the queens are!" She linked arms with Winnie happily, pulling her friend into the Great Hall.

Winnie squealed in turn with Domi as the girl captured her in a hug, shimmying a little to show off her dress after they pulled away while their hands intertwined. Both in something floral and colorful it would almost appear like they matched intentionally if their styles weren't so different. Smiling still, Winnie nodded at Domi and allowed herself to be lead into the great hall with a confident spring to her step. The decorations were cute and the light, icy colours were different to the summer season which she found endearing since she had never truly experienced a white christmas before. Another benefit to the light airy colour scheme was the contrast of it all compared to the students that chose to wear dark colours, Diana's dark lipstick and dress standing out to Winnie immediately. More so next to the boy she was with. Winnie knew Diana had a date for the ball but expected it to be the likes of a quidditch player in an older year, not one of the weird twins Winnie saw in her common room occasionally. With an eyebrow raised and a gentle elbow prodding Domi's side, Winnie nodded in the direction of their mutual friend. "Do you see the boy Diana's with?" The question sounded innocent enough for Winnie to play it off as curiosity but she truly wanted to gather Domi's opinion and see if her friend thought similarly about the weird boy.
