Yvonne stepped up to the dueling platform and greeted the students. She had been pleased to be asked to help proctor the tournament and was looking forward to seeing how the students would do. It was always a good way to show off what they had learned in their lessons and put it all to good use. She was curious to see just how creative the older students would be. "Welcome to this year's tournament." she said brightly. "The winner of this round will be moving on to the next but make sure to keep things fair and above board. Any funny business and you will be disqualified." Yvonne added trying to seem stern with most likely mixed results. "Now you may face your opponent and bow before beginning. Good luck to you both!"

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Branson was keen for the duelling tournament this would be good fun. He bowed to Lucie and then when he could sent a simple first stupefy to her.

Lucie hadn't done too well last year, so she wanted to do as best as she could this time in the tournament. She bowed to her opponent, allowing them to go first. "Protego." she said, blocking the Ravenclaw's spell with ease. She then cast the bat-bogey hex their way.

Lucie quickly blocked her opponent's spell, and then with a flick of her wand was quick to cast another spell. "Pertificus Totalus." she said, hoping to knock him off his feet soon.

Bran blocked her spell as it approached, his shield spell still one of his strongest, and he went with a more difficult spell, the Tongue-Tying Curse, which he knew was weaker than earlier spells but he wanted to try these more difficult ones.

Lucie was a little annoyed that Branson managed to block her spell quite easily. He sent another spell flying over to her, and Lucie put the shield charm up before sending off another. "Expelliarmus!" she said, hoping to knock his wand out of his hand.

Lucie smirked as Branson had no choice but to dodge her spell. She was feeling a little more confident now, and with a flick of her wrist she blocked his spell. "Protego." she said, before making her next move as she sent the bat bogey hex his way.

Bran wasn't sure he'd ever faced Lucie before but she was clearly a very good duellist. He was able to block her next spell, but it was clear she was a strong spell caster. He cast probably a rather weak, "Confundo"

Branson wasn't quite quick enough to dodge her next spell and his whole body began to feel like likeit was stinging badly, he didn't want to give up, but this was distracting and it feltlike it was getting worse. "Stupefy," he cast weakly.
