@Mischa Falter-Butera vs. @Yuelia Rossingol

Yvonne stepped up to the dueling platform and smiled at the students waiting to start the next duel. The first round hand gone by in a flash and she was excited to see how the students would do this time. Thankfully no one had gotten too hurt yet and she hoped things would stay that way. "Congratulations on making it to the next round." she said brightly. "The winner of this round will be the winner of this year group, but make sure to keep things fair and above board. Any funny business and you will be disqualified." Yvonne added trying to seem stern with most likely mixed results. "Now you may face your opponent and bow before beginning. Good luck to you both!"

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god moding. You can find the site rules. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Mish had won his first duel. Obviously. He had been practicing super hard for this. Now he just had one more and he could finally say he was the best in the year. It was not like had any doubts about that. He bounced a little on the balls of his feet as he waited, looking between the girl and the Professor. He was quick to bow, raising his wand already as he was straightening up again, "Stupefy!" Maybe he could catch her off guard and take home an easy win.

Yuelia was very good at magic, amd she knew it. She had plenty of other limitations, and some of them came to the fore in her previous duel. But she'd won, and that was what mattered. Emmanuel was polite and a bit taken aback by her, and she'd felt a bit awkward. Mischa though...he seemed full of himself and Yuelia knew he'd be tough competition. He threw off a spell almost instantly, and she only just got a shield up in time. Now she was fighting a ticking clock. She didn't think as well under pressure, but she'd just have to. She shifted her stance, changing from quiet and nervous second year back to what she hoped was intimidating. "You're so full of energy...why don't you dance it off? Tarantellagra!"

He was a little disappointed when his quick attack had been blocked, but he supposed it should have been expected. Someone who made it past the first round was bound to be somewhat competent. Unless she had just gone and won by luck, but that didn't seem to be the case. He raised his wand again to block the next spell, offering a short huff. "Dun like dancin' much," he offered with a shrug, "But ya look a little grumpy. Think ya should smile more, Rictusempra!"

Yuelia's lips twitched, the corners actually threatening to break into a smile. This was fun. Sure, she still was dead set on winning, and put up a shield charm once again - although slower than it should have been, it did get up just in time. "A worthy opponent..." she muttered, throughly invested in the game of it all. "Locomotor mortis!...since you don't want to dance."

Maybe he could amuse the girl enough and distract her from the duel. That could be another way of winning, though he didn't really think it was going to be easy. She didn't exactly seem like the cheery sort in any way, shape, or form. Once more putting up a shield to block her spell, Mischa shook his head slightly. "Jus' 'cus I don't like dancin' don't mean I wanna stand still, either," he was a pretty active boy and always needed something to do. "How would you like it?" And with that, he sent a nice Jelly-legs jinx her way.

The great irony of it all was that Yuelia found she was having an absolute blast in this whole thing. She probably would have enjoyed it more if she was winning - so far they seemed pretty evenly matched. Her spellcasting was good, but she still wasn't used to this whole human opponent thing, which was a little bit of a challenge. She shielded through the spell, realizing she probably needed to be able to pick up the pace of the duel in order to win. Giving an almost comical 'villainous' laugh, really more of just a 'ha', she cast a trip jinx back. "I wouldn't like it at all, you can be the one to tell me how the ground feels."

He had to say, this duel was a lot more interesting and fun than the last one he had. If this was what duelling was always supposed to be like, then he certainly wanted to do more of it. He once more raised his wand to try and block the next spell, but he wasn't fast enough. He felt his feet fumble, tripping up over absolutely nothing and landing on his knees with a soft huff. Alright, that was it. "Dunno, s'not too bad," he offered, narrowing his eyes just a little, "Maybe you should join me." And with that, he sent his own trip jinx right on back.

Yuelia, despite the fun she was having, was itching to actually have a spell hit and win the thing. The relief that hit her when she actually managed to get the spell through, however, gave way to her pausing to look impossibly smug, thinking she'd made a breakthrough. So much so, in fact, that she completely forgot to block as Mischa sent a spell right back at her. The smug was wiped right off her face as she wobbled, slipping over and just barely being able to stay in her spot, holding onto her wand for dear life. She reddened, furious with herself for falling for the same thing she'd just done. Yuelia narrowed her eyes, quickly getting herself into a position where she could defend as she got back up. "Hmph...well, um, don't hurry back up," she retorted, lamely, throwing back a knee-reversing hex.

Mish couldn't stop the slight snort as the other girl ended up getting hit by his own trip jinx and ended up pretty much in the same position as he was. "Awe, forget ta pay attention or somfink?" This was so endlessly amusing, but he knew now that she was mad about it, she probably wasn't going to be easy. Throwing up a shield charm to protect from her next spell, he found the time to stand up again, quickly firing back with an Everte Statum. Maybe he could throw her off the platform and win that way.

Yuelia absolutely refused to back down. There was no way she could face herself if she lost this. Her eyes were almost manic, expressing more emotion than she usually ever did, as she frantically put up a shield charm, only barely blocking the spell. "I will not yield to you," she grumbled, trying desperately to get back to her proper stance and confident manner despite being a little wobbly. Better keep it simple. "Petrificus totalus," she cast back, scrambling back to her proper footing.

Now he was back up on his feet, Mischa had firm plans to stay there. There was no chance he was falling for a stupid trip jinx again, even if the damage was minimal. Raising his wand, he was quick to put up a shield to protect himself, grinning ever so slightly as he did happen to notice he was getting under the girl's skin. Even if he didn't win this duel, it would be a victory for him just to be somewhat annoying about it all. But he still did want to win, not having to think about it long before flinging a quick Stupefy her direction.

Yuelia dug in her heels, raising her chin defiantly and blocking the spell. She was getting tired, but she was going to function on sheer determination. It was better to keep going with simple spells she knew she could do very well, so she hit back with a stupefy of her own, focusing too hard to actually say anything else (which was probably for the best).
