The Sorting Ceremony drew to a close in an eruption of claps and cheers resounding throughout the Great Hall, as the last remaining first year made their way to their new house table. Katherine joined in on the final applause. The Sorting Hat had done its job well, as always. While not every student may have agreed with their house placement - and as with every year some did indeed some looked shocked or disappointed by the decision - they'd soon learn that they were put into their house for the qualities they possessed, whether they were aware of them yet or not. Their traits weren't always so obvious at first, Katherine herself was at times surprised by where the hat placed some of the students, but as time went on and the children developed, their house attributes became more recognizable. The Headmistress was confident they'd come to understand that.

Removing the patchy enchanted hat and the stool it now sat on, Katherine levitated both to the left of the stage and returned to her place behind the podium, raising her hands to command silence. A hush fell over the hall and Katherine began to move on, her voice magically amplified with a Sonorus Charm. "Thank you, students. Now, before we begin, I'd like to introduce myself, and some of the other staff here. I am your Headmistress, Professor Katherine Alicastell, and beside me -" She gestured toward the staff table behind her, where the other professors were seated. "Are your Heads of Houses. These professors are here to guide you and lead your respective houses. Your Head of House for Hufflepuff is Professor Landon Carter. For Gryffindor, Professor Cyndi Kingsley, Professor Kahurangi Josephs for Ravenclaw and for Slytherin, Professor Kalif Styx." She introduced each of them present as she spoke, ensuring the newly sorted first-years knew who to look for if they needed any assistance. After speaking briefly of key points of interest throughout the school, the hospital wing among them, she moved on to conclude the ceremony. "Another reminder to those old and new that the forest is strictly off-limits to students, and those found wandering through it without supervision will be punished severely. Another announcement I'd like to make is this; The house-elves employed here are members of school staff, not your personal slaves. Some of you with house-elves in the family may think it appropriate to treat them that way. Let me assure you, it is not. Students are welcome to politely request food from the kitchens out of breakfast, lunch, and dinner hours. You are not welcome to demand it, nor are you welcome to help yourselves to the school's food supply without express permission from the elves or another member of staff. I hope I've made myself perfectly clear. With that said, I would like to welcome you all again to another fantastic year at Hogwarts. Stay out of trouble, study hard, and enjoy your time here. Now let the feast begin!" At once, the empty tables were filled with various foods - roast meats, potatoes, salads, and pies tirelessly prepared by the house elves working in the kitchens below, and Katherine returned to her seat at the center of the staff table.

Tilly barely listened to the Headmistress as she made her announcements. She was focused on one thing, and one thing only. After last year’s feast, the Hufflepuff would be damned if she didn’t get to try some slime-free food. She heaped her plate with chicken wings, potatoes, and green peas.

NO WAY was that poltergeist going to make her go hungry this year. She was ready to dive under the House table with an entire platter if she needed to.

Flynn was a little less than enthused about coming back to Hogwarts than he had been the previous year, not really feeling any excitement as he slid into one of the empty seats at Gryffindor table. This time last year he had been more than excited and he still remembered more or less starting that whole slime and food fight when Vex decided to make an appearance. No sign of him yet, but Flynn was slightly hoping that he just wasn't going to show up and would rather just get through this feast without any hiccups. The new second-year just wasn't in the mood for it anymore, so, simply started putting a couple of things on his plate after the Headmistress finished her announcement, not planning on staying at the table for long before he headed back to the common room to get an early night.

Eoin was still feeling incredibly suspicious about the whole thing as he silently took his place at the Ravenclaw table. He didn't really know much about the houses to make much of a comment about what he thought about being sorted there, but really he was happy he was finally getting the chance to sit down and eat something. After that train ride, he was starving. But first there was the rest of the sorting to get through, being one of the first he ended up having to wait some time before they eventually got to the end of the alphabet. And then his attention turned to the Headmistress as she started her speech, frowning just a little at some of the things she was talking about. "What's a house elf?" He did have to mutter, mostly to himself as he continued to listen. But then the speech was over and the food suddenly appeared in front of them, though Eoin was far to surprised to actually move, blinking rapidly as the once empty plates just magically filled themselves. What on earth was this magic stuff anyway?

Adorah was nervous to be attending her first feast as a prefect. This is where the new first years would look to her for guidance... and so they didn't get lost or fall down a moving staircase. She remembered her first day at Hogwarts, having never heard of magic, and how terrified and excited she was. For the students who weren't raised in the magical world, it was quite an adjustment. She watched eagerly as the new students were sorted, giving a big round of applause for each new Ravenclaw and making a note in her journal of how many there were for when they made their way up to the towers. The Headmistress' speech was similar to the years before, and Adorah hated that she had to make comments about the house elves. She thought they were some of the nicest creatures she had met, but maybe that's because she showed them kindness unlike other students. She glanced around the room as the feast started, trying to get a quick look at a certain Gryffindor and then focused on her food. She noticed a new Ravenclaw beside her say something about house elves and thought she would try to be of some use. "They're like little helpers," she said in between bites. "They'll make the food and help keep parts of the castle clean." She always forgot how small first years were, especially since she had grown some, but you could always tell it from their eyes.
@Eoin Armati

Juniper was excited to be back at school. She had her candy stash, plenty of new fabric to build a few lewks, and was planning on trying out for Quidditch. She thought about joining the arts club that she had heard was started last year, but she really didn't care about anything unless it had to do with clothes. She didn't want to sit and paint a bowl of fruit - she wanted to bedazzle jean jackets and do people's hair for the ball. She watched as each house welcomed a bunch of new students and then listen to the speech reviewing their rules. Juniper gave a little laugh to herself when they were instructed not to just get food when they pleased. She had basically made friends with quite a few house elves at this point from how many times she would sneak into the kitchen and even bake a few things of her own. Baking saved her money in the long run for her snack habit. She was excited when they were finally allowed to eat and made sure to save a little extra chicken for later in a napkin.

Seraphina really couldn't be bothered with having to listen to another speech. This school loved speeches, and she wasn't sure why, as no one was really good at them. She sat indifferently at the end of the Gryffindor table, stratching at the top and then discreetly brushing them on to whoever was sitting next to her. It was a new hobby she had picked up, kind of like the students who would try to lick other's elbows without them knowing. She didn't want to stick her tongue on a stranger so this would have to suffice. She thought the new round of Gryffindors looked rather perky for her liking and didn't bother to clap as their names were read off and their futures assigned. She did enjoy the bit about staying out of the forest. Unfortunately, she had been caught by some professor she didn't know last year when she intended to lure another first year in, but she might have better luck searching the creatures inside this year. It still confused her that she had heard a cat meowing at her from the edges of the tree, but she tried not to think about it too much. When she was finally allowed to eat, she picked at some vegetables and then made her way up to her room so she could unpack.

It was the first sorting that Terrell watched from the relative comfort of the Gryffindor house table. He watched with interest as as the new students were placed in their new houses. That interest faded when it all became a bit samey after the tenth student.

The speech was more interesting and Terrell learnt something new, "I didn't know we weren't allowed to help ourselves to food. I've done that loads of times." He shrugged, the house elves had never seemed to mind before. The thought was quickly out of his mind when food appeared on the table in front of him. He started to pile his plate as high as his head since he hadn't eaten in hours.

Vex had a plan. Well, he had plans. For the feast, but also for making himself really, really happy. He loved nothing more than a bit of chaos and this was truly chaotic. As he drifted through the walls and headed for the Feast, he couldn’t help the little laughs he let out as he thought about the day. He’d gotten everything all ready. Slimed all the keyholes for all the doors on the first floor, left every window slightly ajar on the second floor and helped several students to slip on the third floor. Ah, what a day.
It was not finished yet though, as the non-being carefully held his best plans close to his chest. He needed to make this year memorable, of course it would not be as memorable as his reemergence, but nothing would be as memorable as that. Didn’t mean he couldn’t try though.
He let people to get settled, hovering invisible in the corner as he watched the proceedings and to let it all get a little further along before he moved in for some fun. He didn’t need the fanfare today after all.

Penny was finally back at Hogwarts, not that she didn't love going home for a few weeks during the holidays. She was a second year now and that meant she only had to watch the sorting instead of taking part. She gave a perfunctory applause every time a new student was named for Slytherin, then came a speech, and then the feast which is what she was really here for. Penny was famished, and some of the food the house elves made was even better than the servings she got at home.

Chloë was glad to be back at school, ready to see her friends again and definitely ready for another year of quidditch. She watched amused as the first years got sorted, clapping loudly when her cousins got sorted into their houses. She thought it was fun that one of them had gotten sorted into gryffindor with her, though knowing him she was also a little bit worried about the possible trouble he was going to cause. Both of them really, because even if they hadn't been sorted into the same house together she knew they were quite the chaotic duo. Nevertheless she was excited to be back, only half paying attention to their headmistress when she gave her start of the year talk, figuring that after three years she'd know the drill by now, and more focussed on the food in front of her.

Jenna was happy be back to shcool and she was going find Kiara first place. Hufflepuff was grate summer and she was ready try this year study hard for next year and get better grades and she wanted be a preffect. Se hoped that she will be part of that. Jenna take her seat Hufflepuff house table and she think that later found Kiara.

Vader couldn’t quite believe what had come in mail for him. Ava had said it would but he hadn’t quite believed it. There were others, plenty of others better suited for the position than he was - surely. But he had it and he was proud he had done a lot of work at the school during his time, he had poured a lot of his energy and stress into it, and it was nice to be rewarded but it was going to be difficult to be sure he did right by it. He was glad he had Ajax to take on more work in Accio so he could focus more upon head boy things and his newts. He listened to the head mistress as she introduced them all back to the school and the food appeared. Unlike last time it seemed that the ghost wasn’t going to do anything, but perhaps it was just too early in the meal for it. Regardless he would need to focus and eat quickly incase something did happen and he had to move fast.

Andrea know this year will be hard to finished her friendship with Ajaccio and she will finaly do it. He was a bad friend and what he did Valentin's ball but she needed him talk that she was him liked a lot and she missed up everything and she was bad friend to. Andrea was here and she still was happy be part of this shcool.

Lydia had to admit she was slightly stunned to be back at Hogwarts New Zealand for a full year. Despite her misgivings, she had enjoyed teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts last term. She was excited to be back. Sitting at the professor’s table with her colleagues, she watched the first years get sorted into their respective houses. The Sorting Ceremony here was so different from Ilvermorny, where the house chose the student. Lydia’s head itched at the thought of a communal hat. However, she resisted the urge to scratch or say anything out loud.

Once the last student had been sorted, Lydia turned and listened to Professor Alicastell. Lydia thought her a clear and effective speaker. She couldn’t help admiring the woman and her ability to lead. Once the introductory speeches were over, she turned to the feast, pouring herself a glass of sparkling pumpkin juice and tucking into a plate of beef and roasted vegetables. Since Lydia had joined the staff in the middle of last year, she had no context for the slime catastrophe. She lacked a healthy appreciation for how her meal could be ruined in two seconds flat.

Branson was so excited at the Ravenclaw table, he’d been sorted and he was waiting for the food to appear, so eager and ready to just eat. But it seemed first that the professor had something to say. He listened to the introductions, paying the most attention to the one of his house, but stealing a glance at the famed Professor Styx. He listened as the woman outlined rules about where they were and weren’t to go. He wasn’t ever planning on going to the kitchens but he could tell that some students were doing so if the warning was that strict. However with that the food appeared and Branson tucked in, no reason or fear as to why he shouldn’t. It was good, not as good as his mum’s cooking but it was definitely still real good.

Bobbi was thoroughly over her Sorting experience. She was tired, hungry, and didn't give two hoots about restricted areas or being nice to house elves, whatever they were. Seeing every other young person’s jubilant faces as she joined the Hufflepuff table further soured her mood. Bobbi still wasn't exactly sure what a Hufflepuff was exactly, she hadn't been listening during the Sorting Hats song, but she didn't like the look of them. She sat silently with her arms crossed, she only uncrossed them to pick up her cutlery when the food appeared. Magic school would take some getting used to.

The way the sorting hat had spoken to Nate had sent shivers down his spine, even though he knew it had to have had a hidden microphone sewn into it, or something. Just like he knew the enchanted night sky was just a projection, or that the floating candles were held by wires. Still, it had unnerved him, and his head felt fuzzy long after he'd taken it off and sat down with the snake house. He'd been a bit annoyed to see that the girl from the train, who had pretended to be a witch, had also been put into the snake house with him. It was probably scripted because he'd talked to her, so now he was going to be stuck with her following him around and trying to convince him about magic. He sighed loudly, propping his elbows on the table, barely listening to the headmistress talk about elves. He scoffed, wondering if they were the RPG kind, or the Santa's helper kind. He didn't ponder on it for long, before out of nowhere, an entire banquet of food just appeared on the table. He jumped back with a yelp. how had they done that? He hadn't seen the food there before, and wasn't sure how they'd hidden it. Had there been screens there the whole time, projecting the image of the other side of the table to hide the food in the middle? Yeah, that made sense. That had to be it. He was annoyed he hadn't tried to reach into the middle of the table sooner, but then, he hadn't expected them to be hiding a prepared meal there. Cheeks flushing with embarrassment, he settled back down and helped himself to some of the food. Doubtful of the whole magical school shtick or not, he was really hungry.

Isaiah was pumped to be at the school, to have been sorted and be totally ready for the next year. He was sat next to some other first years at the table, glancing over at the hufflepuff table and waving at Piper for a second. He was a little bit disappointed they weren't in the same house but he knew that wasn't going to stop them from having fun. Zay didn't pay much attention to the headmistress as she started what sounded like some sort of speech that certainly wasn't going to be any fun, rather he looked around the hall to see if he could spot some of the other kids he had met before school. His focus immediately changed when the food appeared on the tables though, digging in as quickly as he could and making sure he used every inch of his plate to fill it with food.

Cyzarine had so much she wanted to do, so many things that she wanted to get started on, so many people she needed to speak to. She was just going to be so busy and it was going to be so exciting for her, that was for sure. Cyzarine had enjoyed the sorting ceremony too, looking at all of the little faces joining the gryffindor ranks. She hoped they would do the house proud. She listened to the headmistress speak and it was the usual spiel that Cyzarine now, as a sixth year was quit used to. However, with that, it then brought the food to the table and much like everyone else, Cyzarine just began taking food for her plate. It was always a good feast to start off the year, even if it wasn’t the healthiest thing in the world. It was still so good.

Liusaidh had a lot of things she wanted to do in this year, she had a rucksack filled with goodies to be able to use in or around Styx. She couldn’t wait to get started on it. She couldn’t wait to have fun and definitely ruin every single one of the conditions that would bring about the trampoline she’d demanded. Though of course, she wanted the quidditch team to win. She was deeply desiring to join them, knowing she was the best qualified of anyone in her year to join those ranks. She was so much better than who they had currently. Liusaidh yawned loudly at the headmistresses speech making a bit of a show and dance with her yawn but, just otherwise waited with some impatience until the food finally appeared. Then she began eating, She still thought the house elves at home were way better than the ones here and she could yell at those ones. Maybe if the professor let them treat them worse then they’d cook better. However it didn’t matter, she just ate her food as everyone else around her did too.

Aonghas couldn’t really wait to be done with this year, he would of course make the most of it, but it didn’t mean he couldn’t look forward to being done with this place in next to no time at all. He thought it would be interesting next year as others in his year were able to have this sorting feast and he would be at home. But, it was his choice and everyone had to leave eventually he was just doing it on his own terms and a little prematurely. The hufflepuff was listening along to the words the headmistress was saying, nodding along vaguely but not really taking it on board, it was pointless to him, he would be gone soon, he had his owls and really he was just waiting to hit seventeen. But it was a short speech and Aonghas just began tucking into his dinner. Savouring his final welcome back feast. Everything would be so final this year and he did not mind that at all.

Rose did like the feast, she wasn't getting sorted so she could enjoy it from a different perspective. She was excited for every new hufflepuff that was announced. She waited for the sorting ceremony to be over and the feast began shortly after. She filled her plate with food and couldn't wait to catch up with Ana and her other friends. The speech had been the same as usual and Rose didn't think much of it. She could only hope that this year was going to be as awesome as last year had been.

Despite the rough enough start to his holiday, Lumio had thoroughly enjoyed his break, it was always good to spend time with his italian family in the lovely weather making the most of how good they had it there. The rough start was fine, it was something he was used to and he’d blown up about it, but he and his mother were not much happier. He just needed to be careful about his temper at times. But now, none of it matter, he was back at school and he spotted his brother at Ravenclaw so, everything was right in the world. He nodded along to the headmistresses warnings and just began filling his plate when he could. This was going to be a good year and hopefully it would be a dinner without the drama of another food fight.

Clara was again sit her favorot place and she was again be her lovely home at Hogwarts. She know that she missed up things with Lumio last year becouse she didn't know if she liked him but mayby she know that she liked him as a friend but nothing more. She looked to gryffindor house table @Lumio Skey and she didn't know if she needed vawed him becouse she missed up things but she hoped that he still wanted be friends. But Clara get grate time in summer and she spend with her brother Italy. That was a lot of fan and she get some new Italian friends.
