Y36 Duelling Match #10

[Katherine Alicastell]

It was the first round of the year's duelling tournament, and Katherine lead the first batch of competitors to the raised platform in the centre of the chamber. Gesturing for the two to take their positions opposite each other, the headmistress stepped away, and took her own place at a podium to spectate from. "Competitors, welcome. In a moment, you will begin your first round of duelling. The victor will continue on to additional rounds, and further their chances of winning the title of Champion. Wands out, and prepare yourselves." Katherine spoke with a voice amplified by magic, and allowed the two time to ready their stances. "Bow and commence."​

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Jasper had mixed feelings about Blake these days. He still disliked him, but without Tyler around... he seemed a lot more human, even if he was still a jerk. Jasper could admit to being jealous that the other boy was captain and he wasn't, but besides that Blake had almost seemed decent lately. Sometimes, at least. But that wouldn't stop Jasper from winning this duel. He grabbed his wand and pointed it at the other boy once they had bowed to each other. He cast a bat bogey hex to start, which he figured would be funny.

Duel time again, and Blake was sure this had to be his year. He was so good at everything else, he didn't understand how the championship hadn't been glued to him since second year. Usually showing Jasper up was the best part of the tournament, but things felt different recently. Without Tyler around, it was hard to remember why he had disliked Jasper so much. And as much as he hated to admit it even to himself, Blake was hardly surrounded by friends these days. So it wasn't with his usual enthusiasm that he blocked Jasper's spell and quickly fired back a stunning spell of his own.

Jasper blocked Blake's spell and grinned at him. "Can't think of anything funnier than that?" he asked the other Slytherin, casting a next spell back at him quickly. "Tarantallegra!"

Blake snorted at Jasper's comment, not letting the other boy lure him off his guard as he quickly blocked Jasper's next spell with a shield of his own. "Not trying to be funny, trying to win!" He called back, before firing back at Jasper. "Expelliarmus!"

Jasper rolled his eyes, blocking Blake's spell. He gave an exaggerated yawn. "Boring!" He said, then aimed his next spell. "Furnunculus"

Jasper sighed as Blake didn't react to what he said at all. This really was getting boring. He moved his wand up to block the boy's next spell, but realized he was too late. It hit him square in the chest, and Jasper fell backwards onto the stage, unconscious.
