Joshua clutches tight to one of the school's broomsticks, feeling ever so nervous as he arrived at the quidditch pitch. This year was either going to be a disaster like last year or there may be a chance he would finally get a good grip on quidditch, otherwise, Jackson made a big mistake in making him captain. The Ravenclaw questioned the former's decision in passing the position to him, it made no sense to Joshua. He was bad in this game, he was bad as a chaser, and if he had to play any other position in the game he was bad at it as well. Jackson must've hit his head or something to trust Joshua to carry on the team for this year. Doubting himself to be a good captain like he doubted himself with Hogwarts Monthly, Joshua immediately promoted Alexis to co-captain. He thought she would make a better captain, more than him, so it made sense for him to choose her as co-captain. It's a good thing they were on good terms and she accepted his offer, or Joshua wouldn't know what to do on the first tryouts. "Alright, h-hello everybody, welcome to tryouts. I'm Joshua for those who are new, co-captain with my friend here, Alexis," Joshua gestured to his fellow prefect, something else entirely he was still finding hard to accept. "If you're returning, your position is safe. Um, alternatives have to try out again and yeah, some positions need to be filled. Good luck, do your best," Joshua nodded and stepped back to observe the tryouts.

Simon had to admit he was a little disappointed to have no gotten the captain of the team position, but, he knew that with everything else he was doing, and the fact he had to focus on doing well this year, there was not particularly enough time to be able to do it. That and he was rather proud of his dorm buddy for having it. "Congrats Josh," he congratulated the boy when he arrived at the pitch. He had his broom in hand and after the introduction just shot up into the air and got to practicing.

Minnie arrived at the quidditch pitch, she knew she needed to do better. The seeker she had replaced had been a much better player than she was, and Minnie knew she needed to double her efforts to be as good at it. She listened to the new captain as he spoke before nodding and then heading up into the air to get started.

Lars still had mixed feelings about being on the Quidditch team, but he liked it enough to return again. He was still pretty comfortable in his role as alternate, but also wondered if he would be able to play in a few games this year. The current keeper was really good, though, so Lars knew it was better for the team if Simon was just able to play. The new captains were Joshua and Alexis, and Lars listened quietly as they spoke. When it was time to try out, he waited for his turn. He scratched his neck. "I'm Lars and I'd like to try out for keeper again." he said softly.

He quickly took to the air and flew in front of the hoops, trying to focus on his task. He had practiced at home with Fleur, and hoped it would pay off. He spotted a chaser flying in his direction. Lars was glad when he managed to block the first attempt. He smiled, starting to feel more confident. He blocked the next one too, but let the third one through. He managed to save four out of the five attempts in the end, and he was glad with that result. He flew down to the ground to let someone else have a turn.

Chloe was more than ready for another year at Hogwarts. She felt slightly more confident about the whole world of magic and being a part of it, though the progress of her becoming good at it was a little slow. More importantly though, she had learned to love Quidditch, something she took after her father. She clutched her broom tightly as she arrived to the pitch for the tryouts. Hopefully, this time she would get a more permanent position on the team. She greeted the captains, pretty happy with who had been chosen to lead the team to victory this year. "Chloe Chan, trying out for beater," she announced, before she wasted no time in mounting her broom and getting in the air.

The girl sped around a few laps in warm up before she gripped the beater’s bat and held it in preparation in case any bludgers were to either come right at her or attempt to hit any other player. Seeing one out of the corner of her eye, the girl sped towards it and hit it with a resounding crack, watching as it flew in another direction completely. She grinned. That was fun. Her eyes widened slightly as another bludger she hadn’t seen coming from behind her almost hit her shoulder and he swerved, just in time. Phew. That had been close.

The girl noticed another bludger speeding towards a teammate and she flew after it, once more hitting it, successfully sending it flying (almost) towards herself instead. She hit the same bludger again, this time sending it far away from her. Unfortunately that was all they had time for, but she hoped both Joshua and Alexis paid attention to her tryout. She really wanted this, after all, especially after she’d heard there was a vacancy for the position she was trying out for. Chloe flew back down to the ground and thanked the caps politely before she headed back to the castle.

Alexis arrived in high spirits for the tryouts. Received a letter from Joshua, offering her co-captain, as well as him being prefect, the Ravenclaw could not wait to start the new term. She was standing beside her best friend as he gave his speech to the group. She glanced at him, clutching his broom while he addressed the students in front of them. When the tryouts started and they watched them from the side, "Great speech, Josh. You're doing great.", she complimented him, nudging him softly on the side while her eyes were fixed on the people up in the air.

Chase had felt pretty good about trying out for the Ravenclaw quidditch team, at least until he heard his older brother would be the new potions professor and would be able to watch all games he'd potentially be involved in. Felix had been captain during his school days, the pressure to impress him would be big. The Ravenclaw made his way down to the pitch the morning of the try outs. Thankfully Felix hadn't followed through on his threat to watch him try out. Chase made his way over to the captains to introduce himself. "Chase Warrick, trying out for chaser," He announced before taking a school broom and getting to work.

Chase had practiced a lot over the years do he was fairly confident. He easily scored his first attempt as the keeper barely had chance to move. The second attempt also went through the hoop as did the third. By the time he went to take his fourth shot on goal he was clearly getting cocky because he eased off the power a little and the keeper was able to save. Chase didn't make the same mistake on his final shot and made sure it went through the hoop. Chase was disappointed having missed a goal but hopefully the captains thought it was enough.

Zoe had spent the better part of the holidays wondering who would be filling Jackson's shoes as captain. By the end of the holiday she had come to the conclusion that it almost certainly wasn't her, something she didn't know how to feel about. Zoe had never been in charge of anything in her life before, she didn't know if she would have known what to do leading a team. She definitely wasn't the most experienced Quidditch player in the world. But part of her was still disappointed somehow. She was happy for Josh and Alexis once she found out who it was though, relieved that the team would be in good hands for her final year at school. Showing up for tryouts she greeted her teammates cheerfully and listened to Josh's speech before kicking off, ready to hassle any new tryouts with bludgers. It was a surprisingly sad thought, that this would be her final year of Quidditch, and especially that it was the same for the majority of her team. What would the Ravenclaw team even look like next year? Minnie and Sophie were so young, would it just be the two of them trying to build a new team? Zoe didn't want to think about it, trying to relax and focus on the bludgers throughout the tryout.
