OOCOut of Character:
All right, make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.

The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.

April was excited about dueling and happily skipped onto the platform. She waved to the crowd, hoping to spot Norton there. Then she looked at the boy who was her opponent and waved at him as well. "Hi Alistair! Sorry in advance for beating you!" She called to him cheerfully. Then she drew her wand. "Stupefy!"

Alistair had already won duels in the past. He'd been the champion of his year, and that alone had made him felt so much more powerful than he'd ever had. The teenager was eager to feel that way again, to prove that it wasn't a one-off win. Taking his position at the opposite end of the platform, 'Stair prepared himself, and gave a slightly strained smile to the Hufflepuff before him. "Don't be so sure." He mumbled to himself, raising his wand and casting a quick protego. The stunning spell fizzled off of his shield, but he kicked himself for not being fast enough to fire first. Jabbing his wand forward, he retaliated with a jelly-fingers curse.

April didn't hear what Alistair said, but it didn't matter. She stuck out her tongue at him instead. The shield charm he used blocked her stunning spell, but it only made sure April remembered to copy what he was doing and blocked his spell as well. She then fired an Antler jinx at him. That would certainly make him look funny.

Dueling was always a conflicting experience. Part of Alistair wanted to relax and enjoy it, just as April was, but an even larger part of himself wanted to win and prove himself to his peers. The mixed feelings were distracting, and as the Hufflepuff fired back, the boy reacted too slowly to defend himself. The spell hit, and the sensation of antlers sprouting from his head sent a cold shiver down his spine. The instantaneous transformation was too reminiscent of his nightly changes, and left an uncomfortable knot in his stomach.

Taking a deep, reassuring breath, Alistair put one hand up to the branching horns to help steady himself under their weight. For a moment, he pretended they were heavier than they genuinely were, and made a show of struggling to keep upright, only to quickly wave his wand toward April and fire back with a babbling curse, hoping to catch her off guard.

April whooped in delight as her spell hit Alistair, then she burst into giggles at the sight of him. She didn't notice if she upset him, too busy celebrating this small victory. She only barely managed to block Alistair's own curse, as she was so distracted by her spell hitting him. She blushed a little, then fired back another stunning spell as it was the first thing that came to her mind.

Alistair frowned as his spell was unsuccessful, and raised another shield against April's stunning spell. He didn't expect to win the duel so quickly, but now that he'd taken a hit, he was eager to even the playing field. "Confundo!" He incanted, casting the confusion curse at the girl.

April wished Alistair would stop blocking her spells already. She wanted to win! She jumped up and down impatiently, then jumped out of the way of his next spell as he sent it her way. Then she twirled once before aiming a bat-bogey hex at him.

April had a lot of energy, and Alistair wasn't sure he could keep up with all of her movements. He watched her twirl with a mildly dumbfounded expression, and though it gave him more than enough time to prepare and deflect the incoming hex with a shield, it was still a lot to take in at once. It was becoming difficult to focus both her and on the next spell to use. "Petrificus Totalus." He incanted after a moment. He didn't expect it to hit, seeing as he'd wasted time choosing, but it was something to use all the same.

April giggled at the expression on Alistair's face as he looked at her spin around. She should show him how fun that was! And how you could totally still win using it. She spun around again, intending to put up the shield charm the moment she faced him again, but then tripped over her own feet. She was almost never clumsy, so this was a shock. That expression was on her face as the spell hit her and she fell to the ground, immobile.
