Kennedy led the next two round of students up onto the platform and led them to their respective ends of the stage. She informed them of the rules thoroughly, despite being older students and already having won one round, she wanted to make sure they were still playing safely and by the rules. Once she stepped off, she signaled for them to begin when they were ready.

If October had found her first duel nerve-wracking, it was nothing compared to her second. She had known that Tristan was entering the duels as well, but it hadn't really hit her fully that there was a chance she would have to face her boyfriend until the second round had been announced. It wasn't until she met his eyes across the platform and bowed slowly that it really sank in to October that she was actually going to have to fight Tristan. She wasn't afraid of him, on the contrary, Tristan brought out a competitive side that October had once prized, and there was nothing in her mind but the absolute certainty that she had to beat him. October kept her eyes on Tristan, reflexes tense, and the moment the duel began she struck, moving quickly as she waved her wand. "Stupefy!" She cast, already quite sure that Tristan would be expecting her to make the first move, and planning her next parry.

Tristan was happy to have made it to the next round of the tournament. At least he had proven for certain that he was a better wizard than Austin Branning could even hope to be. At least, in his own mind. Once he found out he had to fight his girlfriend next, he had been surprised and a little nerovus, but now that hew as facing her he was fairly sure this would be kind of fun. They had always been competitive to each other, and he knew they would both give this duel their all. He grinned at October and winked at her before taking a defensive stance. The girl took the first step, as he had expected, and she went straight to business. He blocked her stunning spell, then pointed his wand at her in turn. "Glad you find me stunning" He joked. "Expelliarmus!"

October had been ready to block Tristan's first offense, but she hadn't been prepared for the flirtation that accompanied it. Her face heated up as she shielded and changed positions slightly, a little embarrassed at how distracted the remark had made her. Quickly gathering herself, October realised she could use this to her advantage. "You should keep your mind o-" October cut herself off mid-sentence to send a tripping jinx at Tristan, hoping to catch him by surprise.

Tristan grinned as he felt like his comment had gotten to October. He thought this could definitely be fun, but didn't doubt he would be the victor by the end of it. When she said something back, he paused to listen and didn't expect her to send a jinx at him in the middle of it. The tripping jinx hit him, making him fall and land painfully on his knees. The boy grit his teeth and felt his cheeks heat up, embarrassed. A part of him had thought October would take it easy on him, maybe even that she would let him win in the end. But he should have known she would take it seriously. What he hadn't expected was a tactic like this. He quickly got to his feet and shot a spell back at her without any other words, embarrassed by this entire thing. His knees were definitely hurting, and some of his hair now fell into his face. "Tarantallegra!"

October couldn't suppress a triumphant grin as she saw her spell hit Tristan in his moment of distraction. As much as she liked him, it was satisfying to take someone so cocky down a peg. Unfortunately, October soon fell victim to the same cockiness, assuming that Tristan would have something to say before retaliating. She wasn't quite ready to block his spell, and yelped as she felt her legs jerk out from under her, startled by such familiar dance movements taking place out of her control entirely. Face heating up at how uncoordinated she must seem, October was relieved that she at least had control of her upper body, aiming a spell carefully at Tristan while her legs were attempting to spin her around. "Petrificus Totalus!"

The grin on October's face as her spell hit him made him a little annoyed, but when his own spell hit her in return he grinned at her as she started to dance. He couldn't help a small laugh from escaping him, though he wasn't going to make the same mistake twice and let her distract him. He blocked her next spell and sent a jelly fingers curse her way, as it would surely make her drop her wand if it hit her.

October huffed a little at the sound of Tristan laughing, embarrassed at how ridiculous she must look. As silly as it looked and annoying as it felt though, October didn't want to waste the time to end the spell immediately. The dancing was manageable for the moment, and she was able to twist her torso around to block his spell, and fire another one in retaliation, bending backwards while her legs insisted on dancing facing the opposite direction. "Stupefy!"

Tristan was surprised that October didn't pause to undo the spell, but it seemed like she was more concerned with knocking him out than stop herself from looking foolish. In truth, even under the spell she was dancing more gracefully than he could, so in a way he could understand her lack of urgency. Especially as it didn't seem to do much for her aim. Even when forced to bend backwards and send a spell at him that way, she didn't miss. He had to block it with a shield charm, otherwise he would have been knocked out. He sent another spell her way, hoping the dancing would distract her enough. "Rictusempra!"

At first, October had found attempting to duel while her legs flailed her across the stage manageable, but it was taking a serious toll on her reaction time. Still bent over backwards October was late on the draw trying to block Tristan's tickling charm, unable to help a loud shriek of laughter as tickles rushed over her. She lurched forward instead, doubling over and clutching her stomach as she laughed wildly. It took all of her strength between shrieks of laughter to choke out the word, "F-finite!" and end the spells, still panting hard to recover her breath as she turned to face Tristan again, heart racing with adrenaline as she braced to block whatever was coming next.

October seemed to be having a difficult time managing the dancing, even though she had held up well so far. His spell hit, and Tristan grinned as the girl was now dancing and laughing at the same time. But unfortunately, she reacted quickly enough with a counter spell to stop him from taking advantage of this vulnerable position. Still, he hoped she was distracted enough not to block his next attempt too. "Stupefy!" Two of his spells had hit, and now he wished he had used one that knocked her out instead. The duel would have been over by now.

Even though she was panting with exertion, October stayed focused as she moved quickly to block Tristan's next spell, adrenaline thumping through her as she took a more appropriate duelling stance and fired back. "Confundo!"

Tristan was a little disappointed to see October seemed to be back on track. But it didn't matter. He was going to win this, even if he really liked her. He wouldn't let anyone, not even October, stand in the way of his victory. He blocked her spell and shot off another, deciding to keep going for the most simple solution to the duel now. "Stupefy!"

October jumped quickly away from the beam of Tristan's spell, a little surprised that he would try the same thing twice. He seemed to be getting frustrated now, so October buckled down, determined to win this. There was no way she would let Tristan show her up. "Expelliarmus!"

Tristan decided to take the fact that October dodged his spell rather than blocking it as a sign of weakness, and pressed on. He thought if he kept shooting spells at her quickly, he would definitely get the upper hand before long. He blocked her disarming charm, then pointed his wand at her again. "Petrificus Totalus!"

October kept her focus on Tristan, hoping to distract him by moving around as she slid out of the way of his next spell easily, targeting him as she moved. "Densaugeo!" She cast back, trying to angle her spell from a direction he wouldn't expect to catch him off guard.

Tristan watched October with a bit of confusion, as he wondered why she was moving around so much. The spell she shot at him came from a strange angle, and even though he moved to block it, it hit him. He couldn't remember what that exact spell did, at least not until he felt something stab his lower lip and he realized his front teeth were growing at an alarming rate. Panic seized him. If he wasn't quick, he wouldn't be able to pronounce the counter spell. As it was, he had some trouble. "Finith- Finisth- FINITE!" He said, pointing his wand at himself frantically. To his relief, his teeth moved back to their normal size, though it did feel rather strange. He glared at October and steadied himself to counter her next spell. He didn't think he had time to send one to her before she was on him.

October was pleasantly surprised when her spell hit, though she wished she had chosen something that would actually end the duel. The sight of Tristan panicking over his expanding teeth was hilarious though, and October couldn't help but giggle a little as he stumbled over the counterspell. She didn't let her guard down completely though, and as October saw Tristan beginning to recover from the spell she adjusted her stance, firing back quickly in the hopes of taking advantage of his distraction. "Stupefy!"

Tristan could feel his cheeks were hot, and he could only hope it didn't show too much. He consoled himself with the thought that he couldn't have looked as silly as October had while dancing and laughing at the same time, but it was a hollow thought as she had definitely still laughed at him. He blocked her stunning spell with gritted teeth. "Expelliarmus!"

October did her best to keep her focus and not think about how silly Tristan had looked with giant teeth as she blocked his next spell, changing angle slightly as she retaliated. "Silencio!" She stayed completely focused on the duel, grateful that her years of ballet had given her the stamina to keep going despite how tiring the dancing jinx had been.

The embarrassment about the teeth hadn't left Tristan yet, but it only made him more determined to win against October. He frowned at her as she sent a silencing spell his way, and blocked it with a shield charm. Maybe the idea of blocking off one of the opponent's senses wasn't such a bad one. "Obscuro!"
