As the next round of duels went underway, Kennedy led the next two contestants onto the platform. She pointed to their specific ends of the platform on opposite ends and then went over the rules with them. Once they were ready, she stepped off the platform and stepped aside, letting them begin when they were ready.

Jess was thrilled that she had managed to make it through the first round of duelling and was eager to progress even further. She stepped onto the platform, bowed to her partner and got into place to start the duel. Once she was given the signal to begin Jess cast the first spell. "Stupefy,"

Alistair had not expected to win against Andromeda, but he had, and he was glad that it had been him and not her coming out on top and moving on to the next round. It had taken a lot of effort and self-motivation to enter the tournament, and he didn't want it to have been a pointless waste of time, nor had he wanted to humiliate himself by losing in the first round.

The lycanthrope bowed to his next opponent, another girl, and had to quickly cast up a clumsy shield charm when she cast the first spell. He mentally kicked himself for not being faster, as it had seemed to give him a head start last time, and fired back with a conjunctivitis curse.
