Tugging at the tie that was wrapped neatly on the Gryffindor robes upon the body of a first year, Matt Greene felt like he was just way too formal right now. Matt hated ties and anything that resembled anything like that. He tugged and tugged until it was in the regular, limp form and he left it there on his chest. His robes were not fastened and he was glad that he looked somewhat normal. Well, he was not used to wearing robes, but this was the nicest clothing that he had now, even if they were used before. He did not mind that at all. He continued to explore the grounds of Hogwarts and found himself inside the castle once more. Everything in here was just so weird. He was heading up to the Gryffindor common room when the stairs changed on him, and he had to go another way. On the second corridor, he continued to walk until he saw something that captured his attention. He naturally knew nothing about Hogwarts New Zealand, or even Hogwarts for that matter. There was a room that captured his attention, and he wondered toward it. Matt wondered if there was something there that could entertain him since he did not know where the others he had met were at.

The room itself was decorated with trophies that were here since the first year that Hogwarts New Zealand opened. Matt found himself in awe as he looked around, wondering who made all of the trophies. He looked to see who had the house cup, and maybe that was why there were houses. A competition in something called house points. That seemed a little redundant but this was the school and it could do what it wanted, when it wanted. Matt had no say over the matter. He looked over the other trophies and wondered if one day he could ever win something. He doubted it but it would be nice to show off to Mason once he arrived here. Matt continued to look over and saw that Gryffindor once had a winning streak, and then last year were pummeled by Slytherin. He wondered if that was going to be the same this year. Shrugging those lean shoulders, he continued to explore the area, hoping to find something more to shoot for, except learning. He did not look forward to learning any magic since it was just so different.

Rubbing her hand against the wall as she walked, Clara grinned. The young Hufflepuff woke up that morning and decided she was going to have a good day. She was in such a good mood she even felt like skipping - though she did not do so as she was sure people would look at her as if she were a nutcase. Having only been there a couple of days, Clara hadn't explored much of Hogwarts. She made sure she knew where her classes were, she was getting pretty good at finding her way back to her Common Room, and it wasn't too hard to find the Great Hall, or the way outside. At the moment, she was exploring the Third Floor. Clara knew she had Charms on this floor, and the Hospital Wing was also here, which was another good thing to know. Though, she did wonder why it wasn't nearer to the ground, wouldn't most accidents happen outside? But she supposed that it was kind of in-between everything. She was sure that if it were a major accident, the Professor's would know some cool way of getting the student into the Hospital Wing without having to make them walk. But there had to be something else on the floor. It was such a huge castle, surely there had to be more.
Like any young girl, Clara's blue eyes snapped to a glittering room. Her already big eyes widened, and she inwardly squealed in delight. She couldn't quite make out exactly what it was from here - but oh what it could be! Imagine if Hogwarts had a room full of things that sparkled! Imagine if it were a room filled with diamonds! Clara fastened her pace, her hand no longer touching the wall, but rather at her side as she marched towards the bright room. As she got closer, her enthusiasm faded quite quickly. It definitely wasn't a diamond room - it was just shiny trophies! Clara blinked, and rethought what she just thought. Trophies!? That wasn't as exciting as a sparkling room, but imagine having your name put on something big, gold and shiny! Her excitement rose again at the thought, and Clara swiftly entered the room to see what she could aim for to get a trophy. She was sure her parents would definitely have to be proud if she got a trophy! Inside the room, there were so many trophies, Clara couldn't believe it! Hardly taking anything in yet, Clara wheeled around to see how big the room was. A tiny squeak came out of her mouth in shock, as she saw a boy in the room too. She quickly placed her hands over her mouth in embarrassment and shock. Clara wondered why she got a fright - Hogwarts was hardly a place where you could find yourself alone - there were so many student! She supposed she just wasn't expecting someone else to be in there, her mind was away with the fairies.

The Gryffindor somewhat wanted to have his name in here, somehow. He was not sure how he could, but one day he just might. Matt Greene would love to be noticed for something big and good. Matt would want that more than anything else. However he had no idea how to get himself there except by earning a lot of house points. He could probably do that, and he craved having someone like him for his accomplishments. However a squeak caused Matt to look down at the ground. A mouse? He looked around at the floor and could not see anything that could have made that sound. "What the hell, where is that mouse?" Matt spoke while he was looking around but could not find it. Now something was really messing with him since he could not find it! Then he looked up and saw a blonde girl, about his age, covering her mouth as if she had done the squeaking. No way, since that sounded exactly like a mouse! He could not believe it!

The comment he made just slipped out of his mouth, "You would make a great voice over for Minnie Mouse with that high pitched squeak of yours." Matt then realized that she probably did not know a thing about the muggle world and their characters. Minnie mouse was just one of them. Matt then felt really embarrassed about this all, and he looked down at his feet. How could he have been so stupid like that. Then again he doubted everyone here. Some people knew of the muggle world and some did not. He grew up there, and just learned about magic himself. It was definitely not something that he was used to seeing or doing. Having to explain himself, having to answer some odd questions. Everything was just way too new.

Clara stood frozen, her hands still over her mouth. She felt like a real dummy and tried to tell herself to move, or at least drop her arms, but she couldn't. Clara was supposed to flick her hands through her hair and make a witty comment, but nothing came to her head. Her blue eyes stuck on the boy as he looked around for the non-existent mouse and her stomach flipped when his eyes connected with hers. The boy made a comment about doing a voice over for a mouse and Clara hardly had a chance to register what the boy had said as he looked down, apparently embarrassed. It didn't feel right that someone was embarrassed because of her. She hated that anyone would feel anything but happy around her. It calmed her a little, and she dropped her hands to her side thinking of what the boy said. "Minnie Mouse? That's a muggle television thing, right?" Clara asked kindly, yet unsure. Her parents hated Clara having anything to do with muggle stuff, but it fascinated the young girl. She loved the books, the radios, the T.Vs, the muggles were incredibly inventive. Clara wondered if perhaps the boy was a muggle-born and knew her parents would be most unhappy if she befriended him, but she pushed the thought away. Clara needed a friend, and she didn't have to let her parents know what blood he was.
Clara smiled sweetly at the boy, placing her hands together rather than letting them hang limp. She was still unsure what to do with her body posture, and felt a little awkward, but waited in hopes of the boy's response.

Matt could not believe what he had said just then. He spilled that he knew more about muggle things than magical, but he would catch up one day. He was determined. He would find a way. He ran his fingers through his hair before he let out a small chuckle. Of course, he had to get a little nervous in front of females. That bothered him, but then again, he seemed to have more friends in that gender than male. That was what made him rethink on how he behaved with them. "Yeah," Matt finally found his words, "it is a muggle character made by Disney like, over a century ago." Matt shrugged, not sure if he was right or not, but it would be something. He sighed a bit, and hoped that he did not sound like some idiot. He just knew a lot about the world that was not here. He would hide this fact from others though.

So, to change the subject, Matt stuck his hands into his pockets and he decided to introduce himself, "I'm Matt. Not short for Matthew but just Matt. Gryffindor is my house, apparently." That was always a conversation starter from around here. He just hoped that it worked. He did not care what house she was in, but it seemed like she was not in his. He would have remembered a cute face after all. Matt just hated being all awkward. His harsh growing up environment took a toll on his social skills, and being around people made him a bit uncomfortable. He did not have much experience with the opposite sex. At least he did not think they had cooties.
