Transfiguration 6:3

Jacqueline Styx was seated on the edge of her desk, waiting for the students to enter. She smiled at them as they each came in. When they all arrived, she stood up.

"Welcome. I want to congratulate you all for your efforts last week, and the success that you had. This week, we are going to work on another practical transfiguration. We will be conjuring flowers." With a wave of her wand, she brought forth a bouquet of lilies, her favorite flowers, into her hand. "Now I am sure that any of you would be glad to impress their dates with this skill, or their mothers," she said smiling. "Personally, I love to be able to decorate with fresh flowers anytime I wish. The type of flower you conjure will be limited only by your ability to imagine. Just like with any conjuring spell, success is in the details. I want you to look at these lilies. Look at all the intricate details each flower contains." She handed the flowers out as she walked around the room. "You must picture this in your mind clearly and precisely to create a successful flower."

Returning to the front of the room, she tapped the board and the word 'Orchideous' appeared. "The spell we will be using today is Orchideous. I would like everyone to repeat that please." Professor Styx listened as the students repeated the word for her. "Excellent. I will be walking around as always so please go ahead and try to conjure up another tulip to match the one I handed you. Once you have that accomplished, you may feel free to conjure up any other flower if there is time left. If you need a model to work from, just let me know." She sat down on top of her desk, watching for any issues that may arise.

Jordie was beyond distraught. With the revelation of what had been happening to Leo, Jordie had been crushed and worried and distracted, fretting with no idea how to make anything better. He was so worried that he was losing sleep. He tried to continue on with his routine, hoping that trying to keep some semblance of normalcy might help.

He walked into class, settling in and turning tired eyes to the Professor. Transfiguration was by far his most difficult class, but he was trying his best all the same. It required a lot more studying, but Jordie was nothing if not stubborn. He went over the chapter for the lesson a few times, wanting to be sure he understood it properly. He was delighted when he managed to conjure an Orchid on his first try, giggling and offering it to another student before heading back out again.

Branson had enjoyed the valentines day celebrations, it helped that with them was his girlfriend’s birthday, he enjoyed that too. Branson had tried to make sure that she had a good time, given it was a number of things at once, but he knew there wasn’t too much he could really do to make the celebration that unique. It was a school holiday at the end of the day. Branson was getting himself together for the day, putting the fun memories of valentines behind him. He had to focus, he had classes. He gathered up the different things he would need, reviewing each of them in turn, and making sure that he was only taking what he needed to that day. With that Bran headed out of the dorm room and to his first class of the day.

Branson walked into the transfiguration classroom and took a seat in the room. He knew they’d be doing more conjuring but he wasn’t how they would build on that last lesson. He was eager to find out though. He took out his wand and his books and placed them down as the professor told them they’d conjuring up flowers. That would be cool. He looked at the lilies on the professors desk and noted all of the different elements to them, how pretty they were and how delicate and intricate they were too. He nodded as the professor gave them the spell they would be covering and then let them get to it. Branson took his wand and then looked back at the tulip that they were to conjure, imagining it in his head and then he said, ”Orchideous,” it took a couple of tries before he got it, but Branson was pleased when he did. He conjured a few more and then tried to conjure a lilly. He was just getting it as the professor wrapped up the lesson and dismissed them.

Weston had been pleasantly surprised last week when they had dived straight into spell work, and he only hoped that trend would continue. He wanted to learn to conjure everything. Then he'd never have to buy anything ever again. To his delight, Professor Styx announced they would be doing more practical transfiguration. He watched as she suddenly made a bouquet appear, a bit like a muggle magician. Weston had never been overly fond of flowers (mostly because flowers tended to grow in dirt, which could hide bugs), but he was still looking forward to learning the spell.

Professor Styx walked around, distributing flowers, before teaching them the incantation. Weston repeated it aloud before getting to work. He studied the tulip laying on his desk and tried to envision a matching one. "Orchideous." A flower appeared. It was much more wilted than the one he'd received from Professor Styx, and Weston tried again. It took him several more tries before he was able to get a near-identical match. He grinned. Weston conjured up a few more flowers, and by the end of the class, he had enough for a full bouquet. Best of all, none of them contained any hidden insects. Weston wondered why anyone bothered with the real thing when conjuration was an option.

River was excited to learn more about conjuring in Transfiguration. She loved this class. She had a talent for it, or so she thought. She did well most lessons. She also worked extremely hard to do so. She wanted the best grades in this class even if she wasn't sure she would use it after school in any careers she was considering. That was okay though. She would certainly use conjuring in her day-to-day life even if she didn't choose a career in which it was needed.

The Slytherin sixth year entered the Transfiguration classroom. She found a seat in the front row, placing her wand on her desk and her bag under it. This class normally did not have too many notes. She waited patiently for the rest of the class to arrive before the lesson began.

River was thrilled to learn that they were conjuring flowers today. Not that she would ever give her mother flowers, but maybe her sister as a graduation gift. Or maybe if she was ever having a bad day. River could always decorate anywhere with flowers. The girl did love her colours that much was obvious. The young girl listened as the teacher explained what they were doing today and gave a demonstration. River was happy to give it a go herself. She looked at the flower in front of her. She held it up, examining all the petals and the stem, the purple colour and the texture. The green tint of the stem. It was simple but beautiful.

River had the visual of the flower in her mind. She held her wand in her hand. "Orchideous" She said imagining the flower. A flower appeared out of thin air next to the original flower. It looked quite similar. River attempted a few more times until she had a beautiful tulip in front of her. She was pleased with ehr work, but it was rather basic. River decided to give it another go. She pictured a random flower in her mind, much like the tulips before her but with all the colours. She had tones of everything in the bright flower image of her mind.

River pointed her wand again. "Orchideous" She said. This time a rainbow flower appeared out of no where. It was perfect. River wanted about a dozen more of them. She did not have the time though. The lesson was over. River collected her flowers, turning some into the professor before taking one or two with her as well. She had conjured enough of them after all. River had her hands full when she left the classroom, knowing she wanted her own dorm decorated in these rainbow tulips.
