Transfiguration 5:2

Professor Styx was sitting at her desk, waiting patiently for her students to all arrive. On every desk there was a chalk board eraser. Some students seem puzzled when they noticed them, but no one commented. The woman smiled ever so slightly as she looked at her watch, deciding it was time to start the lesson.

"Let's get right to work. We are going to begin to vanish things this week. Shouldn't be too hard to practice on these - unlike other things to come, this week we will be working on things that don't move." She said with a hint of mystery, letting them wonder what they would be doing later in the term. Walking around, Professor Styx looked at her students, motioning to the object in front of them. "So, we are starting with erasers and will move up from there. This is a pretty straight forward spell, it just takes a bit more magic to work it than your normal transfiguration." Having made it back to her desk, she picked up an eraser.

"The wand movement is the standard three tap method. You do not need to say the item that is being vanished, but you do need to focus on it. If you are not concentrating on the object, you may vanish the wrong thing." She said, then demonstrated the spell to them. Tapping the eraser three times, she then said "Evanesco!" and made the eraser disappear. Smiling she looked up to the class and spoke again. "There are enough extra erasers for you to practice again if you wish. I will be walking around if you need any help."

With that, she allowed the students to begin to work.

Homework: RP the lesson.

After last week's lesson Chloë knew there wouldn't be a whole lot of talking for this one. At least she clearly remembered the professor telling them they'd be getting straight to work. She took her seat in the classroom after she entered, curiously looking at the chalk board eraser on the desk. They had been talking about vanishing last week so it seemed logical to assume they would be trying to make the erasers on their desk vanish. Chloë listened as the professor started talking about what they would be doing during the lesson and gave them a small hint of what they would be doing later on in the semester. Watching the woman make one of the erasers vanish she still wondered where the item went and she now understood why people had different opinions and ideas about that. Once they were told to start practicing Chloë focussed her full attention on the eraser in front of her. She didn't want to make anything disappear that she wasn't supposed to if she managed to get the spell right. Using the three tap method and clearly pronouncing the incantation they had been given for the spell it took her a few tries before the spell was succesfull, but when it was she happily looked at the now empty desk in front of her. Since there was still some time left she went to get an extra eraser to see if she'd be able to get the spell right in less tries than with the other one. Once class was dismissed she had succesfully managed to make both of the erasers disappear, the second one a lot quicker than the first, and contently left the room.

Ajaccio didn’t think he’d ever get use to the prefect badge on his chest, it was far more disarming than his running accio, it just didn’t make so much sense. Him. He just had never had much responsibility and even with hogwarts he always felt like he had one foot out, like if he started hating it he could jump ship and join his father again, his dad would never mind, but it and of course Accio were such a strong link to this place, tying him to this location that it felt a little odd. But he was doing his best to ignore those odder thought in his mind and focus instead on what he needed to be doing with his day. He grabbed his books and notes, grabbed the odd piece of homework that he had actually completed and was trying his best to find the different things that he would need. The one advantage of being a prefect was the common room, and though Ajax did tend to spend more time in the accio room, when he wasn’t focusing his day on the work there, he was focusing on his revision often done in the prefect’s common room. He grabbed the last few things he would need and headed to class.

Ajaccio walked into the transfiguration classroom and took his usual spot in the room. He glanced towards the professor as he finished taking out his notes and books and placing them down in front of him. He took his wand as the professor told them they would be beginning on vanishing things. He nodded they had done the work on it before hand, the lecture element. He took one of the erasers and held it lightly in his hand. He thought about it disappearing, thought about the weight of it vanishing. He pointed his wand at it and then focused on it vanishing. He said, ”Evanesco,” after tapping three times, it took a few tries but he eventually got it. Ajax got more erasers and spent the rest of the lesson working on the spell. Eventually the lesson was wrapped up and he was able to pack up his things and head out of the room.
