Professor Summers waited in front of his desk for the students to arrive, as a human this time, unfortunately. Beside him sat a large glass jar, which wasn't usually present in his classes, but would be necessary for todays lesson.

"Hello there! I'm not going to do too much talking today, so let's get on to it." Professor Summers smiled as he waved his wand at the jar. It floated up off his desk and into his outstretched hand. "Ok, in this jar are matches. I would like each of you to walk up to me and carefully take a match. Single file now, and don't push anyone. No trying to light them, either, or you'll get a face full of Aguamenti and a month of detention."

Once everyone had a match, Professor Summers put the jar back down and turned to the students, his own match in hand to use as a demonstration. "Today we are going to turn matches into needles. Of course we will be using the 'three tap' motion with our wand as usual. The incantation for this is 'Flammeus Tailora'." Professor Summers tapped his wand in the palm of his hand three times and said "Flammeus Tailora". In the blink of an eye the match's wood became sleek metal, and the phosphorous sulfide changed into the needle's eye, perfect for threading. "It is that simple. Well, as always, I will be walking around the room as you work. If you need something, raise your hand. At the end of the class, I need you to turn your needles back in. I'll be counting them. Begin!"

Note: "Finite" is a counter-spell, not Untransfiguration, and shouldn't be used to reverse any transfigurations.

Adorah was the first one to arrive to Transfiguration and took a seat near the front of the class. She didn't like having to be subjected to talking alone to her professor so she threw her nose in her Transfiguration book. Last week's attempt at trying to perfect a spoon transfiguration had gone okay, but she hoped she would be better at performing magic this week (meaning less unsuccessful attempts). As the rest of the class arrived, she began to put her book away and grab her notebook to take notes.

As Professor Summers told them to get into line to retrieve a match, Adorah quietly slid behind a few other students and waited her turn to take a match from the jar. She walked back to her seat and waited for further instructions, fiddling with the match between her fingers. She listened as the professor explained the next part of class. Transfiguring matches into needles seemed much easier than transfiguring quills into spoons. For one thing, they were a lot smaller. She looked at her match and tapped it three times, thinking very hard about what she wanted it to transform into. "Flammeus Tailora!" she declared. The match turned into a needle except for the eye, which remained a shade of red and a tad bulbous. Adorah furrowed her brow and tried again. Tap. Tap. Tap. "Flammeus Tailora!" The almost-needle gleamed and then transformed into a perfect version of itself. Adorah giggled. She watched the rest of her classmates work on the spell as she took down a few notes about the incantation. At the end of class, she returned her needle to the jar.

Amy was one of the first students to come into the transfiguration classroom and took a place at the front. She hoped that they would be doing something similar to the last lesson, because she had finally gotten the hang of it by the end of the class. She pulled out her notes and read over them, just to prepare herself. Transfiguration wasn't her best class and she wanted to improve on that.

The professor asked them to line up, so Amy made her way into the line. She received a match from the jar and walked back to her desk. They received their instructions and Amy began attempting to turn her match into a needle. She tapped the match three times and said,"Flammeus Tailora." Nothing happened, so she tried again. It change, but the needle was dull at the end and still had a red tip."Flammeus Tailora." This time, the needle was a shiny silver. She grinned and realised that the class was now ending. She put her needle back in the jar, and packed up her things. She left the classroom feeling happy that she had achieved something.

Minnie found that the time flew with the amount of work that she had to do. She was putting a lot of work and revision upon herself, but Minnie hadn’t found it too difficult to stick to the schedule that her parents had made for her, and she was still managing to do a few things that weren’t really on it. The ravenclaw was kept so busy with everything that the semester was simply flying by, this was a good thing, certainly because so far she had managed to do pretty well. Her parents would probably find a fault but Minnie was doing well enough that she was pretty proud of herself. She knew if she kept it up and got some perfect O grades she would have something really good to show for her first semester. The girl had woken up a little later during this week, a little after when her parents had told her she should aim to be up by. She’d never been much of a morning person, so she was glad now to actually get the chance to not have to be. She got her books together, got her homework and notes and made sure everything was correct before she headed out the dorm room and to the first class.
Minnie took her usual spot at the front of the room. She looked to the professor as the man got started on what they would be learning. As it turned they would be doing another spell. That was exciting and she wanted nothing more than to do another spell. She listened and took a match from the jar when instructed to. She placed it down on her desk and turned her full attention back to the professor. The class moved on and the professor began telling them how they were going to change the matches into needles. She nodded along, listening to the incantation and repeating it back. The professor showed them the spell and then let them get started. The ravenclaw nodded and got started. She tapped three times, imagining it changing to a needle and then said, ”Flammeus Tailora,” Minnie said with confidence, it took her a few more tries but she managed it. She got the professor to change it back before she did it again. She got better at the spell as time in the lesson went on, she was pretty good at it by the end of the lesson and felt pretty good about herself regarding it too.

Getting though this week was actually a bit harder for Aiden than the previous weeks. He didn't know why exactly, but he started feeling a little anxious and he even started to miss his home a little bit. It's not that Aiden didn't like it here, it's just that there was a saying - no place is as good as home and he finally understood why people really said that. Aiden liked talking to all the people in Hogwarts, loved all the lessons he had to attend and all the magical stuff he had to learn. What Aiden didn't understand is why his parents haven't sent him an owl, wondering, how is he doing and what's new in his life. Aiden wasn't feeling like being the first one to write that letter, so he didn't write anything at all and waited for the parents to be the first ones to actually write something.

While all that going through his head, he went to the transfiguration classroom, taking his favourite spot in the middle of the classroom. As he waited for everyone else to gather in the classroom, he smiled at people entering. When the professor started speaking, he listened very carefully and gave him all his attention, yet his speaking very quickly came to an end. Aiden grabbed one match and went back to his seat. Looking at how others were doing this, Aiden took out his wand, tapped three times, imagined the match turning into needle.
- Flammeus Tailora! Boy said with a confidence and actually managed to turn the match into needle on his first try. Aiden smiled.
