Transfiguration 1:4

Dressed in his enchanted canine robes, Aeon waited for his students to arrive whilst transformed into his husky self, watching them from his position on the seat behind his desk. One paw was on a quill, as if he'd been writing with it. In all truth, he had, attempting to learn to do human things whilst in his dog form in case he ever needed to, and partially just for fun. Once it appeared as if the last student had arrived, he became a man again and addressed the students, stepping to the front of his desk.

"Ok, well, to get started today, I'd like you to take out your quills." He heard some of the students mumbling under their breath, one of them he could hear say "I thought he said that we were going to be using our wands today." Summers glanced at the particular person who had spoken and paused. There was always one to complain.

"Now, take out your wands." He grinned, and a few of the students looked puzzled. He turned around and grabbed his own quill from the desk. "Today we are going to change our quills into spoons. In transfiguration, concentration and imagination are key. If you can't mentally visualise the outcome of your spell, it isn't going to work well. You are altering the very molecules that make up an object, so I'm sure you can see how important it is to concentrate. In most of the transfigurations that we will be doing we will be using the 'three tap' method. For this particular transfiguration, the incantation is Scriopea. Now watch me..." Professor Summers held his wand to his quill, tapped it three times and said "Scriopea". With a soft noise, his quill flipped around and turned into a silver spoon, with feathery patterns lined through its metal to hint at what it had once been. He picked up his new spoon and held it up to the class. "This is what you should end up with, though the types of spoons will vary depending on each of you. For instance, this spoon is of silver, but the first time some students perform this, it's quite literally a little rusty. You may also be wondering, "Professor, how is it important for us to turn a quill into a spoon?". The answer is that it isn't. This will hardly be practical in your day to day life. What is important is learning how these Transfigurations work, and gaining experience through them, no matter how random or mundane the items may be." He smiled at the class. "Now, don't forget, three taps, and 'Scriopea'. I will be walking around as you do this, so if you need any help just raise your hand. At the end of class, line up at the door and I will change your spoons back into your quills." He held up his spoon and with another tap of his wand, it became a quill.

"Alright, let's get started!"

Note: "Finite" is a counter-spell, not Untransfiguration, and shouldn't be used to reverse any transfigurations.

The Professor had said they would actually be doing magic this lesson, so Jingyi was actually looking forward to Transfiguration for a change. So imagine his disappointment when the Professor then asked them to take out their quills. He was about to complain about being lied to, but that quickly changed when they were told to take out their wands as well. Finally. While changing a quill into a spoon didn't really make much sense (why would anyone ever need to do that?), he was still eager to actually do some magic this time around and not just sit through some other boring lecture. First watching the demonstration, his eyes turned to the quill on his desk once they were allowed to start. Wasting no time, Jingyi eagerly raised his wand, tapping the quill three times just like instructed, "Scriopea." At first it seemed like nothing was going to happen, but his eyes were quick to light up as the quill started to shift. While it still looked a bit like a quill, the tip had most certainly spread out and turned into the top of a spoon. This was exciting, the grin on his face saying everything as he spent the rest of the lesson practicing the spell before leaving the classroom with everyone else once the lesson was over.

Xinyi walked down to class. He was tired. It was a good thing the semester was wrapping up, he was eager to return home to his own bed and the calm that he got from being home. School was exciting enough for Xinyi. He took his seat in Transfiguration, unsure of how he felt about this class. He took a few notes as the Professor spoke, trying to keep up with what the man was saying. He was a little nervous about the spell. When he tried the spell himself, his quill turned into a spoon shaped feather. He kept trying for the rest of the lesson before gathering his things.

Akihiro was ready to go home. He didn't like being away from Aika like this. He was eager for the next school year, when he could have her closer to him. He was sure she would be in Slytherin with him, which would make his life so much easier. He walked down to class, feeling both more relieved and more anxious that it was almost the end of the semester. He took his seat in Transfiguration, raising a brow as they were told to take out their quills. He had thought they were going to practice practical magic today. He kept quiet, thinking there must be some sort of theory they hadn't covered yet.

He smiled, relieved when they were told they would be turning their quills into spoons. He sat a moment, concentrating on his spell, before he gave it a shot. He smiled as his quill turned into a slightly rusted spoon with a feathered pattern on the handle. Pleased, he turned in his work before leaving with the others

It was finally time too see when his older sister enjoyed Transfiguration. They were supposed to do magic today, at least that is what the professor said. It had to be more interesting than taking notes, but basically anything else in the world was more exciting. Eston entered the Transfiguration classroom. He sat down in an empty chair as he waited for the professor to begin. He had not bothered to take out his note taking items. He was holding the professor to his promise. Apparently he isn't though Eston thought as the professor told them to take out their quills. He groaned, annoyed. This class was so lame.

His opinion shifted as the professor said they would not be taking notes with their quills but instead were using them in the transfiguration. That was good enough reason to take the quill out as Eston did so, placing it on his desk. He listened to the professor explain just what they were going to do. They were changing their quills into spoon. It was a rather useless spell, but at least a spoon was more useless than a quill. Eston liked to eat. He did not like to take notes.

The Gryffindor boy watched as the professor demonstrated using the three tap method. He was ready to try it himself. He was surprised how the professor admitted it was kind of a pointless spell, but at least his logic made sense. Eston could work with that. He took out his wand and pointed it at the quill on his desk. "Scriopea" Eston said aloud. But nothing happened. Oh that's lame He thought as he tried to slow down and try again. He had to picture the spoon. His imagination wasn't the best, but he would have to try. He imagined a simple spoon, one you would find any any restaurant. "Scriopea" He said again, tapping his wand three times. This time the image of the basic spoon was in his mind.

Eston watched as the spoon began to change right before his eyes. It's lost his feathers and gained a silver shine to it. The point turning into a handle. Where the tip of the feather once was was now a rounded spoon. It kind of looked like a spoon you would be embarrassed to give dinner guests, but it was a spoon. His smile grew from ear to ear as he walked up to the professor to show his work. It definitely wasn't the best, but everything Eston did was the best in his eyes. The spoon was soon turned back into a quill. Bummer He thought as he put the quill in his bag and left the classroom.

The semester was already halfway completed and Evie couldn’t help but be a little relieved. Some of the material she was learning in her classes was a little boring, and the Gryffidnor often contemplated ditching them for something a lot more fun. There was barely any time to go exploring and this really annoyed the girl. But since the Transfiguration professor had told the class that they would be using their wands that lesson, Evie was very excited.

Genevieve took a seat at the front of the classroom as she entered the room so she didn't miss anything that the professor told them. As the professor started the lesson and told the class to take out their quills, Evie sighed deeply. "I thought he said that we were going to be using our wands today." Evie said to the person next to her, which resulted in a glare from the professor. She hated when people didn't stick to their word. As the professor then told them to get out their wands, Evie suddenly became excited again, smiling as she did so before sending an apologetic look the professor's way. She didn't mean to be so rude to him. She listened as the professor told the class that they would be turning their quills into spoons, which definitely sounded like a useful spell. She would definitely rather be eating than taking notes sometimes.

When it was finally time to have a go at the spell, Evie tried her best to concentrate, despite how excited she was feeling. She had performed some charms last year in class, but none that were like this. The whole idea of Transfiguration was exciting to Evie and she just wanted to be good at it. She imagined her quill taking form in her head. The feathers would completely disappear, but it would be the same size, and it would change to a nice silver colour. "Scriopea." she said once she was sure that she imagined it right. She watched as her quill turned into a spoon. It wasn't exactly how she had imagined, and definitely not as silver as she had imagined either, but it was very close to it. The Gryffindor thanked the professor before leaving the classroom at the end of the lesson.
