If delivering a rose to Rose’s sister made Kauri nervous, his next delivery after it positively shattered him. His heart had sunk into his feet when he first saw Tristan’s name on his list, the only small comfort that the rose was at least a yellow one. Still, Kauri was not looking forward to this in the slightest, and had almost considered asking Rose or Lizzie if he could swap. The only thing that held him back was wanting to make a good impression on Rose. He didn’t want her thinking he was the type to make things difficult, that simply wasn’t true. If Kauri could work together with Tristan in the Brotherhood, he could stand the few uncomfortable moments to deliver him a rose. Stomach twisted into knots, Kauri tried to keep his posture and voice natural as he approached Tristan in the corridor, tapping him on the shoulder. “Tristan?” Kauri said politely, though his voice lacked the enthusiasm he reserved for his usual deliveries.

Tristan was rather hoping to receive a few roses today, as it always looked nice when he had a few to show off. He wasn't really expecting any pink or red ones, besides the one from Vivian, but that didn't stop him from being a bit hopeful. Other students had had crushes on him before, so it wasn't entirely unlikely. The boy was walking down the corridor, glancing around as he noticed people receiving roses. He turned when he felt a tap on his shoulder, and couldn't help frowning slightly at the sight of Kauri. "Yes?" He asked him, wondering what on earth he could want.

Kauri never enjoyed having Tristan's attention on him, but under these circumstances it felt worse than ever. He did his best to be professional, though he couldn't muster up any of the same enthusiasm he had for other people he delivered roses to. "Delivery for you." Kauri said courteously, picking the yellow rose off the top of his pile and handing it over. "Happy valentines day." It was far enough removed now that Kauri was able not to think of the times he had said those same words to Tristan with love, but nothing about this situation was comfortable or easy.

Thanks for being my friend.
-Jake

Tristan's expression was dismissive as he looked at his ex boyfriend, trying his best not to remember the Valentine's day they had spent together. It had been nice, simple, and fun. He pushed the nostalgic feelings down as he took the rose from him. "Thank you." He said quietly, his eyes quickly averted from the boy in front of him. "Good luck with the rest of this day." He said, turning away from him to open the note. It was a sweet one from Jacob, and he smiled at the message inside.

Almost over. Almost over. Kauri was relieved that Tristan hadn't done anything to drag this delivery out, or make it more difficult. "Thank you." Once Tristan had the rose he stepped back quickly, turning to go off on his next delivery.

Tristan sighed softly, then looked at Kauri. "Goodbye." He said softly, feeling oddly sad about this encounter. Then he schooled his features back to normal and walked away from the Gryffindor.
