Vivid stars twinkled through white wisps of cloud overhead of those entering the Great Hall, shining brightly against the velvet darkness of space that blanketed the entirety of its ceiling, dominated by a single pale moon that bathed the room's entrants in a silvery light. The hall itself was further illuminated by flickering candle flames that appeared to sway and float in mid-air as if held aloft by invisible threads, bathing the building's lengthy tables adorned with shining dishes in a warm glow. Katherine herself stood positioned behind a podium at the forefront of the hall, greeting the youths who entered with a silent nod and a small smile. A sea of faces both new and old, from those here for their first year, to those here for their last.

"Welcome," Katherine began, her eyes sweeping over the sea of faces already gathered at the house tables, and those waiting to join them. "To those of you returning for another year, and to those of you joining us for the first time today. For many of you, this day marks the start of your journey as young witches and wizards in the magical world. The castle and its surrounding grounds will be your home for the next seven years - a place for you all to live, to learn, and to grow. That being said, I must remind the older students, and caution those of you who are new, that the Forbidden Forest is strictly off-limits to students unless supervised by a professor or member of staff. It may look enticing to some of you, but many dangers lurk within the forest. It is restricted for your safety, and any rule breakers will be punished accordingly."

The woman let her warning linger for a moment, eyeing those in particular who appeared more than willing to break that rule, before continuing on. "Now, let's begin. Each of you will be sorted into a house, which you will remain in for the duration of your time here. These houses are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin, named after each of the original founding members of this prestigious school." As she spoke each name, banners rolled up against the farthest wall suddenly unfurled, depicting the colours and crests of each individual house, matching the silk cloths adorning each table. "First Years, as I call your name, step forward and seat yourselves here." Katherine gestured toward the short stool at the front of the hall, situated in perfect view of everyone present. "Once seated, I will place the Sorting Hat upon your heads, after which your future house will be decided and you are to move on to your table and join your new housemates. This decision is final, and houses cannot be changed once the Sorting Hat has made its decision. Now, let us begin." Ending it on that note, the woman unravelled the roll of parchment in front of her and called up the first name.

Trophy Showcase:
The time has come now once again,
To greet you all in song.
New year, new friends, and all new faces,
In amongst the throng.

But who am I? The Sorting Hat!
I'm here to sort you all.
I'll tell you soon where you should go,
Be you great or small.

The bravest of you might become
Old Gryffindor's new pride.
Your bold, courageous housemates
Will always have your side.

Or Ravenclaw might better suit
Those clever of the mind.
Your wisdom will grow far here
if you're scholarly inclined.

In Hufflepuff the fair and true
Will find their closest friends.
A house made strong by working hard
To achieve their ends.

In Slytherin a cunning heart
Will see your goals succeed.
Your ambitions will be fostered
All subtle in your deed.

So try me on! I never bite
And hardly ever dither.
Your house awaits, as does the feast
So call the students hither!

No, he wasn't bothered by the thought that everyone was looking at him, watching his slow steps toward Sorting hat and he was thinking that this was probably another ordinary aristocrat who would benefit no one at this school. At least part. Those who had not settled in to see their new tower mates and greet long-awaited acquaintances, though asked for silence. Whisper cannot be identified with any particular as long as the voice can. Whisper is anonymous. For a very brief moment, Henry was still standing in a half-flocked group of indigenous peoples crowded between the tables and Slide to respond as each name was called. The boy had already learned in which tower his sister Slytherin was placed. She said he was going where his heart was calling, but he had no idea where it might be. It was clear where some of the more familiar people, such as Lin, whom he had met and the boy had wanted so much in Slytherin, had been put in, but that didn't matter now. Whatever the towers occupied by others, it was now the boy's turn, and none of those around him, except his own and Sorting hat, could influence the course of events that followed. At least he had a very deep reliance on this view. Similar to what Elizabeth Addams thought. The moment that Stytherin belongs to is only sortable and the rest of the world is just a backdrop to make the moment something crippled with a variety of emotions that you wouldn't have had if you were alone in an empty hall with only echoes, candles underneath and three-legged boy, without those sunglasses could get out of court. Henry's respect for the hat would be the same.

The father appeared before the eyes of the spirit, still with his cold gaze facing his son. What a small picture from childhood? Maybe. His low voice filled his mind, but then he left Henry's life and left his sister to Aunt Helena. He knew that the belief that this school is not worthy of you is that you will be mistaken here because the only thing you do not deserve is yourself. He knew his father was studying Slytherin house. You need to be able to tell about the tower and feel the conviction you want to find and it will depend on your future.

He finally moved. It seemed strange for a moment, as if there was a strange resistance in the body that wouldn't stop telling her feet that it was better to stay still, not move a step. The body seemed to voluntarily submit to it, but still, the memory of taking one step at a time came back faster and triggered an engine that surprisingly led to the ascent to the hall where dozens of eleven year-olds climbed under the edge of a worn-out hat , although this year with strange additions, the great difference for the ancient ceremony would not be to await its judgment. With fear, with joy, with hatred and doubt, whoever. The dark man slowly made his foot on the first step, slightly adjusting his mantle. The shoes were still a bit wet from the moment the squid also blessed their boat with its presence. It didn't seem like much of a hindrance for Henry to hesitate for a moment, step onto a ledge and explore the grass as he made his way from the stairs to the tripod. No face, but all. Four different colors shone among the sea of black robes. In the future, his robes will have liners and claddings of a particular color, and he will hang on to a particular cloak, be it a lion, a raven, a badger or a snake. He took note of the aunt's doctrine, not neglecting any of them. When you know your affiliation, you will be able to do things differently. Then you will have to go to the table and applaud yourself so that after seven years this school can only be distinguished by applause and tears. It's hard to believe now that you've only been able to be in the mighty castle walls for the first few decades. But everything has to start like this - from nothing. He felt no sense of justice at the moment. There was no father here and he was far away, but he had a sister here. It gave me great hope when all was well.

So far, he had wondered about where he would end up in the tower, while other students had already figured out where each acquaintance would have a place, but Henry had a sense that Sorting Hat had a tendency to nudge his students and bet some would fall into debt. , surpassing students in wisdom as it looked deeper into what students themselves sometimes want to recognize and see. He had noticed how the other sort was silently wearing a hat when it was put on his head. In your last wishes and hopes to influence the mice's decision? He hadn't prepared or planned ahead of time to put something in front of the Slytherin house , to say something and justify his desires and decisions, so it might be better to keep his tongue behind his teeth and not put on his hat. Interestingly, she never returns to this duty? Will it be eternally doomed to prove once a year what it is designed to do again in silence to do the same thing a year later? Or sorting and studying students inside.

Hogwarts was everything Blythe had imagined and more - and she'd only seen two rooms of it. She rose up and down on tip-toes as the Headmistress gave her speech, trying to get a better view of her enchanted surroundings. Her sadness at leaving Hester and her home comforts behind was all but a distant memory. The speech seemed to go on forever - blah blah, something forbidden, blah blah - and then finally the moment Blythe had been waiting for: the sorting hat's song. She frowned. It wasn't the same song Hester had sung to her, but then again, it wasn't the same school. New Zealand probably had all sorts of unique traditions just waiting to be discovered.

Blythe cheered and clapped enthusiastically as the song ended, partly because she'd enjoyed it, and partly because she couldn't wait to move on to the bit where she actually got sorted. The process was quite easy, and Blythe was intrigued by the idea of a hat that could read her mind. She'd seen inanimate objects talk, but this hat really seemed to be alive.

At last her name was called. Blythe was relieved they hadn't called out her middle names as well. She wasn't ashamed of them, exactly, but she did want to make some friends before everybody found out how weird her name was. Hitching up her robes (Hester had bought them two sizes too large in the hopes she wouldn't outgrow them too quickly - an unlikely thought), Blythe pushed through the crowd and sat herself down on the tall wooden stool. She tried not to hold her breath as the hat touched her head. A house couldn't really determine her fate, but it could definitely determine what sorts of friends she made, how much fun she had, and how happy she was. That was an awful lot of responsibility for an old hat. I know you can hear me, she thought as loudly as she could. Pleease can I be in Gryffindor? Please please please? Well, it was worth a try.

"Are you sure? You could do well in one of those other houses...Ravenclaw would suit you very well, but I guess you do seem to cherish adventure over books, okay then....Gryffindor,"

The magic of magic was already within reach; it was quite tangible, cherished and pleasantly warming in the air like butterflies in spring, embracing everything that could be achieved. Although the ceiling of the hall was glistening with a dark night sky blanket of gold star dust, Clara poured all of this magic on the light - bright and unique. Everything was much, much more beautiful than her fantasies, and finally her dreams had come true. Does it really mean that one day she will not wake up in her old bed in Ireland, looking at the dull gray ceiling, which in some places was marked by bluish and silvery lines that were reminiscent of snowy mountains and the northern breeze?

Clara's emotions quickly jumped and elated - she was here, she was going to be one of the ones I would sort out in a tower. Yes, it was real. Really real and irresistibly magical. Let anyone try to object!

From time to time, the body was overwhelmed by these waves of excitement, causing a pleasant thunder to fall over the light body. Like subtle electrical currents, they flashed through their minds, causing them to rethink so much at once. However, at no time did this excitement seem uncomfortable, nasty, or nausea-inducing. No way. Clara, however, will not allow such a miraculous moment to be spoiled by fear. But we had to rejoice! And that is exactly what she did - smiling nonstop.

Now, if anyone looked into her blue eyes, they would see the flashes of joy thrown by them, crying incessantly and crying out, "At last!" behind them.

She followed the rest of the indigenous crowd without really paying attention to the people. Her blond hair was flowing backwards, falling as neatly as a black veil over the mantle's slippery fabric. As you moved faster, the scent of lavender and honey boiled in the air, light and pleasant, and at the same time cheerful. However, even with this warm-smelling aroma, the girl herself lacked the lightness of an alpine violet, the natural allure of pine needles, and the sweet scent of hot chocolate. This is what she wanted to feel, and that is what she wanted to give to others - her northern nature, her memories and the beautiful aura of cold that can be overpowered by something sweet and warm.

The ceremony began, and Clara and the other students stood in two rows, pausing for a moment to look at the tables on the towers, without however distracting them from what was happening. Namely, the surprising arrival of hats, which, even for a fair-haired woman, seemed strange and unexpected. Yes, she had been expecting something more solemn, balanced and boring than a magic hat that speaks, and wears red sunglasses and understands the standards of new music, could be boring. But McCarthy would never, ever, even if didn't look and sound so ... um, stylish, wouldn't call this miracle boring. After all, magic can't be like that!

In fact, she wanted to laugh, well, from the heart, but this ceremony would probably not have been really accepted. And flooding this solemnity with loud, sparkling laughter would not be quite right. This could have been done when she was had divorced her, to make sure that Laughing would not leave Clara alone.

With the heartbeat bouncing on his chest, Clara's name was called out. Hopefully no one will chase her out for this huge smile on her lips. Well, that wouldn't make much sense, because she just smiles. After a good inhalation and exhalation, the girl put on a hat that covered almost her face at the same moment. The body went through incomprehensible sores.

"Well, Sorting hat, show me, my way please," most likely no one even saw how this whispered string crossed her lips, but it was important for Clara not to remain silent. Its just to keep it silent and smile.

"Your way is simple...Ravenclaw,"

Kia was a little nervous being in a crowd of people like this. She didn't like just shuffling around in line waiting to be told where to go. She was in awe of the castle, for sure, so she tried to focus on that instead as they moved along. She was eager to start school here; no connections, no expectations, just a fresh start where she could do what she wanted. She relaxed more as the crowd thinned, so by the time the sorting hat- that weird, singing thing, called her name (or was it a professor that called? she didn't pay attention) she just sauntered up and took her seat. She hoped this was over with quickly, she needed something to eat, she was starving. The hat was kinda cool though. It was too bad she was up in front of everyone, they would probably notice if she just walked away with the hat.

Going to a magical school had Rayleigh feeling all sorts of emotions. Excitement. Fear. Eager to see the unknown. She had never heard of a magical world prior to receiving the letter to come to school. This was a whole new world, and it felt a little overwhelming at times. Worst of all, she had to leave her parents and her siblings. There was no telling if her siblings were magical. Even her parents were surprised, but they were supportive in the long run. Then again, her family were never quite 'normal' anyway. She actually had two mom's, and her dad (whom she called uncle) was a donor and a close family friend. They were all muggles, so she assumed. There was no telling where her genes came from. Nevertheless, the future first year walked into the Great Hall for the first time.

Her bright eyes took in the surroundings, and stared in awe at them. She glanced around to see that some students seemed to be used to this. Of course, there were some that were already a part of this world. The hat sang a tune, and soon enough, other people were going up to the podium and being sorted. She briefed herself on the houses, but she still did not know what she could be in. She would have to wait and see. Her name was called and she walked up to the stool and sat down. She flinched slightly when the hat lowered on top of her head. Oh, this was so weird. Cool, brilliant, but also so weird.

Addy was nervous. She was glad she was going to be one of the first ones called, she hated the suspense of waiting. She'd known she was going to be here, she had known her parents each had different hopes for where she could be placed. She didn't care so much where she went as to who she went with. She wanted Augustus to be in her house, and her friend Lumio too. She thought she had seen them nearby, but she wasn't sure. She didn't have much time to look before she was called to the front. She walked up and took her seat, blinking as the hat slid over her eyes. Hello, Mr. Hat. That was a lovely song.

"Thank you very much! It might interest you to know, I wrote the song myself. You certainly a curiosity to you, but a kindness too. So, for you.....Hufflepuff,"

Christina was excited for this day. She would leave her parents and younger sister finally to go on her own adventure. Christina was ready for it. But on the other hand nervous as well, because she would never do things as Athena would. But it wasn't like Athena was a big nerd as well, she had ok grades as Christina must believe, But if Athena was already struggeling sometimes, the brunette didn't thought she would do better. But she would make fun for sure on the school. She packed all her stuff and went on the train together with Athena. Athena was kind for her, but Christina knew she had her own friends as well. The brunette hoped that Emilia would be there somewhere too she always had liked her cousin. She was sweet to her. But Christina wanted to do her own thing as well. Nobody could tell her how things should be, she was big enough to find her own path. So she said goodbye to her sister and found her own place in the train.

After some while the brunette saw the castle and it was bigger than she had thought it would be. How many people would live here?! She followed the rest to the castle and came in a big hall. Flying candles and a woman who seemed to be the headmistress waiting for them and giving an opening speech. Forbidden Forest sounded cool, but it was off limits. But Christina was only more interested now. Things forbidden never had hold her back. She was different to Athena in that for sure, her parents knew. Athena was suprised that a hat?! could decided where they belonged. How did that worked? Could they look inside of their minds or something or into the future? It was a strange thing. She was glad not to be the first, and clapped along as people seemed to be happy to be placed somewhere and less happy somes too. When her names was getting called she stepped forward. She acted more tough than she felt, because she felt a pressure of getting sorted into Gryffindor all of sudden. Perhaps if she and Athena were in the same house her parents could see they weren't that different. But Christina had always felt different, because others made her. When the hat was placed on top of her head and started talking. Christina could not help smiling a bit, it felt strange.

After so many years of imagining what Hogwarts was like, it felt bizarre to be here. So many years of saying goodbye to his mum and siblings as they left for a magical castle Finn couldn't follow them to, and now at last his own turn had come. The castle looked somehow simultaneously nothing and everything like Finn had imagined, and he couldn't stop staring in all directions. So much history, so many things to explore, where was he even going to begin?! Finn stayed with Arthur and the boys they had met on the train as he followed the group of first years into the Great Hall, his heart pounding.

There it was, just as his family had described. That magical ceiling, stretching off into forever. The floating candles, hovering over a dining hall impossibly full of students. Finn wanted to look in all directions at once, forcing himself to tear his eyes away from the students tables to look at the staff one. There was Mum, beaming at him full of pride, and Finn beamed back, returning her small wave. He looked to the Gryffindor table next and spotted Charlie and Emily, grinning as he returned Emily's enthusiastic wave and Charlie's nod of approval with a small wave of his own. As strange and new as the castle was, Finn felt more like he was coming home than leaving it. Finally he would get to spend a whole year with the majority of his family, no longer left behind when everyone else left for Hogwarts. Overjoyed to see his family again, Finn was only reminded of what was to happen next when the first one of his friends from the train was called away to be sorted. Oh. Before his future could really begin, Finn's fate had to be decided. Four different paths for the next seven years, four different homes, four possibilities for the kind of person this school expected him to be. Where was he going to wind up? He stared out over the hall before looking back at the hat in silence, wondering what it would think of him. Which house was looking for someone like him? Finn doubted he would wind up with his much bolder siblings, as nice as that would be. Gryffindor didn't feel like the place for him. Nor did he think he would follow in Odette's footsteps. Finn wasn't sure he had any ambitions for his life in the long term, other than continuing to paint. So that left him with two most likely possibilities. Would he walk his mother's rocky path in Hufflepuff, or forge one of his own in Ravenclaw? Finn had been weighing up these options in his mind for years, wondering what the hat would have to say to him when his turn under its brim finally came, and now, as that moment drew nearer, it still felt no clearer to him.

"Madison, Finn!"

Finn jumped at the sound of his own name, staring up at the headmistress with wide, nervous eyes. This was happening. It was time for his fate to be decided. With Charlie's voice in the back of his mind telling him not to let the hat scare him, Finn stepped forwards, away from his friends and towards whatever the hat had in store for him. As he took his seat and his vision slipped away as the hat slid over his eyes, Finn struck up a conversation in his mind, wondering just how literal his family members had been about the hat speaking to them. 'Hello hat. What's it like to see into people's minds?'

"It is infinitesimally interesting. For instance, I see you have a lot of different paths you could follow, and from seeing, I know the best one....Ravenclaw"

Emerson Garth Griffith hadn't ever been this far home, getting here had been fairly easy but the mental trip was already taking a toll on him. As he walked down the corridors to the great hall with all of his future classmates he couldn't help but feel a little bit nervous. His parents had told him about what happens and goes on during the sorting ceremony, both having attended schools with similar sorting ceremonies. His face had a nervous grin as the Headmistress started to talk to the students in the Great Hall. The room was larger than he thought, and there were many in the crowd with himself waiting to be sorted. He looked around at the faces wondering which of these people he'd talk to at some point. He brushed his hair back and then quickly pushed his fringe back over his forehead.

Emerson wasn't certain about the houses he didn't feel smart enough to get into Ravenclaw and the others had interesting terms to describe their students, cunning, loyal, fair. He hung his head as he waited for his name to be called. The wait seemed to go on as the Professor talked and the hat sung a fairly long song. He was certain everyone in the hall including himself was ready to eat dinner but alas they were stuck waiting. A boy was called and Emerson watched as the boy went up to the chair. Looking around quickly he noticed how really everyone in the hall was staring at the boy sitting with a large dusty hat on his head. Emerson shook his head a little not wanting to go up there.

"Griffith, Emerson." A person called his name and his head shot up.

Emerson couldn't wait to explore the castle and the arts room and all the things the school had to offer. But having to get up in front of everyone made him feel a tab bit more than just nervous. He took a stuttered breathe and walked up to the stool and turned around. He did a half awkward wave with his nervous smile to the crowd before him that was staring him down all waiting for what house he would be sorted to. He heard it was said you could talk to the hat but he wasn't too sure. Hello? He thought in his head.

Uh thank you for I guess seeing my future? I'm not too sure how you can see in my head and where I'll be the best, maybe I'll learn about your abilities in a class one day? Emerson thought as his eyes darted across the room, he spotted the banners with colors and the animals of each of the houses hung high above the tables. He wondered which he would call home for the next seven years.

"You likely won't, but you'll learn plenty about far more interesting things during your schooling. Within your mind I see a budding courage, one that might suit you to gryffindor, but I think it'll be fostered better in....Hufflepuff!"

Lucas felt like he hadn't taken a proper breath since the moment he saw the castle. It was everything he could have hoped for, and more. It was so magical, to have lessons in a castle. It was enough to make him feel less upset, at least temporarily. It still hurt that his friends had gone to this school for years, years, and they hadn't told him, but the wonder of his surroundings was at least distracting him from how upset he had been. He was a little mad the train ride had been overshadowed by his emotions, but he was here now, and he was going to be a wizard. Lucas gasped as the hat started to sing, but then tried his best to listen along and memorize every word. He wanted so badly to remember every detail about this night, it felt special and magical to him. He looked at the hat with wide eyes as it started to call out names, suddenly nervous. Why did this have to be in front of the whole school? Despite how angry he was, Lucas glanced into the hall in the hopes of seeing Seb. But the hall was so full of students, it was impossible to see him anywhere. It didn't take too long for Lucas' name to be called, and when it was time, he took a deep breath before taking slow steps towards the stool. He closed his eyes after sitting down, waiting for the hat to be placed on his head.

Spilling into the hall with the rest of the new arrivals, Ryan craned his head to watch the ceiling, wondering how hard it had been to cast a spell that large and expansive. He only noticed he was holding up the line when someone jostled him to get past. Catching up to the boys from the train, Ryan kept his head on a swivel, eager to drink in every detail in his first view of the school hall. Nicole had talked about the hall a lot, but mostly about who she sat with to eat lunch with on which day, which Ryan thought was terribly dull.
Speaking of Nicole, Ryan was pretty sure he could spot her around here somewhere, though she had expressly warned him he wasn't allowed to talk to him in front of her friends, so acknowledging him in front of the whole school seemed unlikely.

Ryan listened to the Headmistress's speech, making a note of the Forbidden Forest. It seemed awfully silly to give something a name like that and expect Ryan not immediately want to go there. Ryan was half planning his first expedition when the Sorting Hat began to sing, and he quickly stashed that line of thought away for later. The Sorting Hat was amazing, Ryan had seen animated objects before, but never anything that seemed so alive. Or that could sing quite as well. Bouncing on his feet, Ryan eagerly waited for his turn, trying to deduce if there seemed to be any pattern to the houses called for the kids in front of him. Once his name was called, Ryan happily made his way up to the stool, taking a moment to take in the many faces of the school as he sat down before the hat was settled on his head.

Alexander slowly walked with the rest of his year into the hall. He had been nervous for this day, still in slight shock that he is in fact a wizard. He looked around the hall with slight amazement, with the very tall ceilings with some interesting spell that was casted. He had done some slight research on the school before arriving. He had noticed that the students that were years older than him were sitting in their designated houses. Alex hadn't made any friends yet, so it made him slightly more nervous for this year.

Alexander listens to the speech from the headmistress intently, making sure that he was getting all of the information that she was telling the students. It was a little while before the headmistress was calling the new arrival's names. As each student got up one by one to be told what house they were going to be placed, Alex got slightly more nervous each time. Alexander's name was finally called and he looked around at the students before slowly walking towards the stool with slight sweaty palms and sitting on the stool, waiting to be told what house he was going to be placed in.

"Theres a lot of courage within you, but a deep desire to learn too, better be, Ravenclaw,"

Evan was absolutely mesmerized by her surroundings. Hogwarts was beyond anything she had imagined so far. She couldn't believe she was going to spend seven years of her life learning about magic, in a castle. She found herself admiring every detail - floating candles, the night sky leaking through the ceiling, the sheer amount of witches and wizards, and the robes and hats. Evan couldn't wait to venture into making her own "witch-clothing", she had no idea whether or not she would be taught any form of magical sewing, or if she would have the opportunity to learn anything about the history of clothing, and fashion trends among magical people, but it was what she had her heart set on.

She waited in anticipation for her name to be called. She didn't really know what it meant to be sorted into a house - in the non-magical world, school housing was generally done either by Surname, year groups, or when you enrolled. But to Evan, wearing a magical hat on her head was the perfect way to begin her life as a witch. When her name was called, she eagerly pulled it down over her ears. Clothing had always been exciting to Evan. Sentient clothing? That was truly something to behold.

Too excited to contain herself, she exclaimed "Hello, Hat!"
Once she realized she had spoken out loud and everyone had heard her, she burst into laughter, and buried her face in her hands. What a great start.

"Well hello there child! This is a great start and it's about to get a whole lot better....Gryffindor!"

Augustus' eyes were wide as sauces as he stepped into the great hall. There was so much to look at, Augustus had no idea where to even begin. He quietly followed the group of first years until they stopped walking, then let his gaze travel over all the students sitting in the great hall and staring at them. Nervously, Augustus stepped behind a taller student so he wouldn't be as visible. He didn't enjoy being stared at by so many people at once. He listened to the headmistress, turning his gaze to her curiously. What she said wasn't very new to him, as his cousins had told him most already. His gaze turned to the Ravenclaw table at that thought, where it wasn't too difficult to make out Edmund and Theodore. If Augustus had thought it would be a comfort to see them, he was soon cured of that idea. The two of them were staring straight at him, making him feel even more nervous. He really didn't want to disappoint them.

Augustus decided to focus on the boys he had met on the train, as well as Addison. They were the only other people in the hall he knew. He grew increasingly nervous as the hat finished his song and started sorting other children, especially as his name would make sure he was one of the last to be called. Augustus didn't react much to any of the other people being sorted, though he did observe all the reactions carefully. He was trying to figure out how to react to his own sorting, though he had no idea what he wanted. It would be nice to be in Ravenclaw with his cousins, but was he smart enough? They always knew so much more. Augustus was sad to see the student he had been partly hiding behind go up, now feeling more exposed. He started fidgeting with the sleeves of his robes which were slightly too long. When his name was finally called, Augustus looked alarmed even though he had known it was coming. He took a deep breath, then walked up to the stool quietly and took a seat. He resisted the urge to hide his face behind his hands as he waited for the hat to be placed on his head.

"Don't worry, I'll be nice and quick...Ravenclaw,"

Linden was excited as he entered the great hall. he was finally here at Hogwarts about to be sorted. h looked across at Alison who was near him and nodded. it was unlikely that he would be in the same house as his cousin, well at least this one, but he was glad that he had her here with him. he looked around the great hall. it really was as spectacular as everyone said it was. this was the only room that even his dad had been able to comment on. he was looking forward to living here. he stood with the other first years as the hat began to sing. as it mentioned the houses he looked at the corresponding tables.
The first table mentioned was in red he smiled and looked for his sister. He found her easy enough her red hair was easy to spot he smiled and waved at her glad that she wasn't too cool to wave back even if she was sitting with her friends. he didn't feel like he deserved to be at that table. he wasn't brave like she was, like his mum was. he just wasn't. he wouldn't mind being there getting to be with Wills but it just didn't feel right to him.
The next table he examined was decked in blue. he didn't know anyone there or anyone who had been in that house but he didn't think that was where he belonged. he looked back towards Alison. she may well end up there, at leasrt that was where she wanted to go. with the clever and slightly quirky eagles.
he listened close to the words for the next table. they were the ones that felt right to him, the verse for hufflepuff, he saw his cousin Chante sitting there with what he guessed were her friends. he smiled and waved at her too. this was where he belonged. he knew a lot of Hufflepuff's. Chante, his uncle Chayton, and willows boyfriend were all in that house. his dad hadn't attended Hogwarts but in the discussions about houses had said he would be in Hufflepuff and his mum agreed so he thought of his dad as being there.

he was so caught up thinking about the Hufflepuff house he almost missed the last one decked in green. Slytherin. he really hoped that he wouldn't end up in there. after hearing how his sister and mum spoke about Slytherins even if they said they weren't all bad mum mentioning her friend Lilith and willow quick to mention Alistair he didn't want to be in that house. even if his friend Henry wanted to be there he didn't see its appeal.
as the hat finished the song he realised there was one table he hadn't looked at. set at the front of the hall the staff table. His aunt was impossible to miss. towering above all of the other professors. there were others that he recognised. not from ever meeting them but from what he had heard he was sure that one looking scary even though he also looked like he didn't want to be there had to be professor Styx. and the one with dark hair and a big smile was how he pictured professor Kingsley, the Gryffindor head of house and the only professor his mum spoke highly of. then the headmistress started to call out names and he glanced at Alison they would be up soon. Well, he would be with the name Cullen. she was a young so would be one of the last to be sorted. he watched as Henry took his seat on the stool and was sorted, he watched him get up and move to his house. that didn't look too hard did it. of course not.
as expected it wasn't long before the headmistress called out "Cullen, Linden" and he walked forward trying to look confident even though he was slightly nervous. where was he going to go. there was no reason to be nervous. even if he ended up in Slytherin it wasn't a bad house as such. he sat on the chair and felt the hat fall over his head its rim obscuring his vision.

"Slytherin isn't a bad house no, but that's not where you're heading and you'd make a much better Gryffindor than you give yourself credit for, but no, you'll succeed the most in....Hufflepuff,"

He wasn't sure whether going to a school that would teach him magic was such a good idea after his mother told him not to return to their house at the end of the year. If he could prevent himself from learning any magic then perhaps they would allow for him to return, surely Stan couldn't be seen as an abomination if he never did anything with it? He'd have to write to his mother as soon as possible to find out if such a thing was even possible or whether he would only waste his time on trying to figure out how to convince her to let him return once the year had ended. He could only hope that the family just needed time to overcome the initial shock and confusion of having a wizard in the family - not that he wasn't confused anymore, Stanislaw still didn't know how he got into a magical school that would teach him how to do spells and stuff. Neither did he know what to expect from it all.

He entered the enormous room with the rest of the students and followed the crowd to the front of the room, unsure as to what was going to happen next. Stanislaw was grateful for his stepfather and the fact that he had been teaching him English, he wouldn't have understood a single word of the woman's speech if the man hadn't done so. He stood in silence and watched as one-by-one the others were put into one of the four houses, hoping that it would soon be his turn so he could write to his mother quicker. Thankfully, it didn't take the Headmistress too long before she reached the Ks and when she called out his name, the boy hurried over to the platform and sat down on the stool. Put me anywhere you want, I just want to write to my family. Stanislaw thought as the Sorting Hat was placed upon his head. The quicker this was done, the quicker he would know they would take him back.

"I will place you where I want and that place is Gryffindor"

The earlier farewells was still fresh on her mind. People were staring but she didn't care as her dad started the cleansing by lighting a bundle of sage. The smoke she inhaled took her anxiety away as she stood on the train platform. All her family was present there. Her mom, dad, brother and grandparents said a little prayer for her safe journey. Tradition was important to her, they let her remind her where she came from.

Lifting her hair in a messy bun as they wait behind heavy two oak doors. Cheyenne exercise her breathing slowly, until it was time for them to pile up in two rows and started their flight down the aisle. This is it Cheyenne. Mama said this should be the easy part. She thought to herself but who can tell how it works when her own parents didn't go to this school.

Once the nightmare started, she started praying.
"Cheyenne, Montgomery!" She was called upon. With a slight jump, she made her way to the stool and sat. Hundreds of eyes look at her, Cheyenne felt the hat being placed upon her head and it felt like someone's about to talk to her. Like a Spirit Guide. I have a Spirit Guide already but if you'll give me a very good advice then ... I'll trust you. You're the wise hat they said. The little girl normally closes her eyes but maybe that wasn't a requirement on this one.

"I am very wise indeed. So you can indeed trust when I say this will be the best fit for you, Slytherin,"

Beau Chamberlin might have known what Hogwarts New Zealand looked like, but this was far more than he dreamed it would have been. As he entered through the doors, his eyes opened in wonder as he took in his surroundings. This was awesome! Beau was glad that he managed to wiggle his way to the front since he would be one of the first ones called up. He immediately saw his dad and Beau waved to him. It was cool that his dad was the Divination professor for the upper years. He couldn't wait to take that class! But, that would take a while for him to get there. Third year, and he would be taking Professor Le Fey, who he knew was his father's teacher, and a good woman. Either way, he couldn't wait. Eventually, Beau saw his name called, and he walked up to the stool and sat down. He placed his hands, which were shaking a little into his lap. Deep down, he hoped that he would be a Ravenclaw like his parents. However, no matter where he went, he knew they both would be proud of him.

"You certainly take after your parents...Ravenclaw,"

Nikko walked into the Great Hall and was absolutely speechless as he looked up at the night sky...while inside? It was now that he realized how unprepared he was for all of this. Being speechless wasn't really a problem, he hadn't been doing much talking to begin with. He had been keeping his distance from most of the other first year students as they walked into the hall. He hated how everyone at the house tables stared at them and he shifted from side to side as the head master gave her speech. Dad hadn't wanted to talk too much about Hogwarts, despite all the burning questions he had about his new school. But being here now it was hard to understand why his dad had left magic behind, as Nikko stared at the candles floating in the air.

When it was time for the sorting Nikko tired to keep track of all the different houses his classmates were assigned too. Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, and Slytherin. He had no idea where he would end up. His dad had talked a little about the houses but he never told him what house he was in when he was a student. His dad had shrugged it off as unimportant but as Nikko waited for his named to be called he wished he knew. He felt so disconnected to this part of himself and being surrounded by it now felt overwhelming. His name was called sooner then he expected and he felt his heart beat faster. Nikko managed to put one foot in front of the other until he was in front of the stool. He hardly felt like he was in control of his body as he sat down and stared back at the rest of the students in the Great Hall. He winced involuntarily as the hat was placed on his head and he awaited his fate.

"There's a lot going on here, a desire to learn, a wariness of some of it. But you can trust me, and you can trust my choice, because you will succeed in...Gryffindor"

Emmy couldn't believe it was finally time. She was actually here, at Hogwarts. Here, at a place where there were witches and warlocks and magic! It wasn't at all as she expected it to be - yes it was in a castle, but when she first found out about magic, she expected lots of frogs and old hags with boils on their noses. She had met a few kids that were attending the school as well, and had learnt that it wasn't the case. Magical people could be just as normal as someone like her! The blonde wished her mom was still around to see her now. She wondered how her dad was going to do on his own.
Emmy definitely considered Malachi as her best friend now, and she stood next to him, buzzing. There were so many students, and the Hall was massive and she just couldn't wrap her head around the fact that she was here. Emmy listened carefully to the Headmistress, incredibly upset that the Forest was forbidden. That didn't make sense! She would just have to get a Professor to go with her, there was no way she wasn't going to explore that place. Her eyes flew open as a hat began to sing. She watched as it called up students, before placing them in a house. It wasn't long until it was her turn, and Emmy felt her stomach churn. This was it! She sat down on the stool, her eyes taking in the Hall from a different perspective, all the students watching her. How bizarre. Her eyes found Malachi again, giving him a smile, hoping they would be put together, whatever it meant.

"There is a fierce loyalty to you, you definitely belong in Gryffindor,"

Jett Winters was unsure why he was attending Hogwarts New Zealand, when his aunt lived halfway across the world with her husband and their kids. Jett was the only child of Hadan and Alaric Winters. He was very, very distantly related to the Zhefarovich family, and his paternal grandfather was a Scitorari member in Azkaban. Needless to say, Jett had an interesting upbringing. His dad used to be an Auror way back in the day, but now it was just Jett and Alaric. Jett sighed as he walked into the Great Hall, definitely taking after his mother with being unimpressed with it. His red eyes flashed throughout the hall, taking in.

"Hmmmm......how interesting, you don't care for much do you, but you do want to be great...I think this will help you....Slytherin,"

Theia with both hands in her pockets, nervously toyed with the galleon her dad gave her, and tried to appear calm as she walked into the great hall with her future classmates. The train ride to Hogwarts left a bitter taste in her mouth, being alone with her thoughts and disappointment over her dad’s failed attempt to cheer her up on the platform thereby ruining the excitement she wanted to feel for her first year at Hogwarts. She should have felt restless, on the edge of her seat and unable to stay still in anticipation to finally learn how to use magic and most importantly know what house she would spend her education in. Though instead she was sad her mother was no longer around to support her, worried to whether she would fit in at Hogwarts, concerned at how her family would fare without her, and bitter that leaving her family behind was plaguing her thoughts when she was about to take part in a sorting ceremony that would decide the next seven years of her life. With everything on her mind, it was easier said than done for Theia to keep a normal exterior with the eyes of so many other students on her and with her emotions torn between extremes, and by the time her and the rest of the soon to be first years approached the front of the hall, she wanted nothing more than to get the sorting ceremony over with. To finally know what house she was in and get her first year started. To fade in the background of the house she was in rather than stand in a position where the entire school could see her.

Thankfully, Theia’s surname began with the third letter of the alphabet and it wasn’t long before she was called from the group. Sighing, she approached the stool and sat down, still toying with the coin in her pocket as she anticipated where the hat would place her. With her dad attending Ilvermorny for his magical education, Theia had only fragmented and fleeting knowledge of the Hogwarts houses from what her mother told her, limited to the names of the houses, their associated colours and a few basic traits. Although she did not know as much as she would have liked to, Theia was sure she could trust the sorting hat would make the right decision for her. She held her breath as she waited for the hat’s deliberation.

"There is a great deal going on in your head, great potential for any of the houses. You would find a good path in Ravenclaw, but you'll achieve the most in....Slytherin,"

Sigurd entered The Great Hall for the first time with his hands in his pockets, eyes agog, he tried walk slowly enough to take everything in but he was casually reminded to shuffle onward by the footsteps of students behind him. By the time the group of first years had gathered at the front of the hall, Sigurd had decided he was highly satisfied with his first impression of his new home.

Sigurd thought to himself... Candles, students, tables, benches, professors, Headmistress, hat? Nobody told me about a hat. Houses, I heard about those, Gryffindor.. Hufflepuff.. Ravelclaw.. Slytherin.. banners, colours.... sky....

He was almost too busy journeying along his train of thought, soaking everything in, by the time is name was called was the first time he had actually noticed the sky, and he realized he was facing the wrong direction, gawking at the open ceiling.

A few awkward seconds after his name was called, he finally clicked that was his name and it was his turn, he spun around, and leapt forward onto the stool and tugged the hat onto his head. With the hat on his head, and seated on the stool once again facing the way he was before, Sigurd was instantly drawn back to open mouthed gazing at the sky before him.

"You'll have a great view of the stars where you're heading, Ravenclaw,"
