Closed Taking A Break

Mania placed both hands on her his and leaned her weight slightly more on her left side as she stared at Miles. "No I am not scared, but for all I know you locals put a jinx or something on it so that you can get us non-locals here and get a good laugh from I don't know, so call it an insurance to not get pranked." By the end of her sentence there was an innocent looking smile plastered over her face as she then looked at the door expectantly. "Now go on, open it, unless I was right! Is there something wrong with the door? Was it going to bite my hand?" Nia shook her head at the thought of a door handle biting her hand, but you could never be too sure with what magic could and couldn't do.

Miles couldn't help the slight frown creasing his brow as Nia seemed to imply that someone might have jinxed the door handle as some kind of prank. "And is jinxing doorhandles a normal prank people play on each other?" He had to admit it wasn't a prank he had heard of before. Not that he was an expert on pranking, usually sticking to the good, reliable things like dungbombs when he was in the mood for a bit of mischief. "And how would we even do that when you can do any magic outside of school anyway?" He didn't even have his own wand yet, so it wasn't like he could jinx any doorhandles. Though, now he was brought up, he was starting to worry that there might be something wrong with the door. "I think you're just scared and are coming up with lame excuses," he instead tried to push, huffing as he folded his arms. "If you don't want to actually go in, you don't have to lie about it."

Mania narrowed her eyes at the boy. He seemed to be telling the truth and ass soon as he implied that she'd be making up excuses her eyes narrowed further. "I am just covering all my bases, but looks like you seem to be the scared one out of us two." She said shrugging and turning to the door again. It was now or never sooner or later she'd have to get back to her parents. Placing her hand gently on the handle she turned and by some miracle heard a faint Click and the door creaked open. "Ah guess the adults don't want to keep us out that bad?" Nia threw over her shoulder before popping her head into the darkness of the mansions entrance. "Well, it definitely has seen days where it smelled better." She mumbled scrunching her nose before pulling her head back out. "It looks boring."

He did somewhat take offense to the idea that he was the one who was scared. "Weren't I the one who wanted to come and look at this place in the first place? Why would I be scared if I suggested it?" If he was scared, then he probably wouldn't have wanted to get this close to the mansion in the first place. Duh. But, it seemed as though Nia wasn't as scared as he thought she was, she finally reached out to open up the door. Surprisingly, it did actually open and Miles couldn't wait, almost shouldering his way past to stand in the open doorway, nose scrunching as his eyes adjusted to the gloom. "Well, yeah, it probably looks boring, it's just an old house. But it's supposed to be haunted." Just standing there, he supposed the place did look pretty dull, but he was still hopeful something might happen.

Mania shook her head, hadn't it been her who made the actual suggestion? "Actually if, and by the way it does, my memory serves me right it was me who made the actual suggestion of going to see it." She gave him a hard look. "You just brought the place up and said it could be fun to check out maybe." Boys and their egos, Mania herself did not have an ego. No not the slightest, she was very humble. "Well I don't suppose they'd call it a haunted mansion if it wasn't haunted." She retorted with an amused tone, looking at the boy and then around him on the walls of the building. Surely it couldn't be that bad, it was just stories.

"So I was the one who suggested going to see it," she had literally just said that herself, so it was not like she could just turn around and try and tell him otherwise. "You just suggested going right this second instead of another time. My point still stands. I still brought it up first." He wouldn't have suggested wanted to come and check this place out in the first place if he was going to be all scared about it. But, as for whether this place was actually haunted or not, was still something he was hoping he was going to find out. So far, it really didn't look all too promising. "Could just all be some story to try and scare people," he did have to point out with a shrug.
