Student's Defence Association Sign Ups : Year 23

Aaren Nightray couldn't believe that she had been selected as the President of the Student's Defense Association. The club had been around for as long as she could remember. She didn't expect that she would be leading it this semester. The previous leader was her friend. Leading a club was not really in her plans, she didn't expect to take over after Abel. If she only knew, she could have asked him for advice. Perhaps she should write him a letter. It was her first time to lead a school club after all. She was nervous yet excited at the same time.

The Gryffindor put posters around the school to announce that the club was accepting new members. Hopefully, the posters that she made was interesting enough to catch the attention of the students. She had a lot of plans for the club, but first, she needed members. She tried to make the room as accommodating as possible, especially for the first years. The higher years were already aware of the existence of SDA, it wouldn't take much effort to encourage them to join the club again. It was the first years that would require more effort. Besides, she didn't want to intimidate and scare them off too quickly.There was a table full of snacks, mostly treats, for she loved them, by the side of the room. She also set up some chairs were the students can talk among themselves. She had directions placed in the dungeons to help those who were unfamiliar with it.

She took out some parchments out of her bag and placed it on the table facing the door. The first set of parchments was for the usual list of the members. She needed their names so she would know who to notify for the meetings. She was already planning to call one once the sign ups was over and she had a list of the members already. The second one was for those who were interested in participating in a duelling contest that she wished to hold again this year. She was still in the process of planning it, she still had to contact some professors to ask for help, but it would be great to know whether there were enough members who are interested to participate in it. The list would help in convincing the Professors to oversee the matches. They held one while Abel was still the president, and she had fun, although unfortunately, she lost. She learned a lot though and she wished that her members experience the thrill and joy of participating in a dueling competition. The third one was where the students can write their suggestions for the club. Although she already have a couple of ideas, she wanted the members to feel more involved in the club. She looked around the room to check whether everything was in place. She had to make a good first impression. Once satisfied, she opened the door and took a seat near the table where the sign up sheets were.​

Hey everyone!

Once again, SDA is back. The purpose of SDA is to try to teach proper dueling etiquette as well as to learn how to magically defend yourselves. This is the place where the students can come together and help each other out. Maybe you can have an older student teach you those complicated spells or help you pass your classes, like DADA and Charms! We might also hold another dueling competition this year, so if you're interested, just sign up.

Also, we are trying something different this IC year, instead of the normal sign up list, we encourage you to rp your student coming in and signing up, maybe have something to eat or just chat with the other students. Just a simple post will do. And don't forget to post your character's photo in Accio!Have fun!​

 

[Ozias Fowler]

Ozias had seen a few posters for SDA up around the school and after talking to a couple of older kids in his common room, realized that it was a dueling club. The curly haired boy could get into something like that at least to test out any spells he'd learnt in a more real life scenario than in a classroom. He entered the dungeons and headed to the room he hoped was right. Walking through the open door he saw an older redheaded Gryffindor and what looked like a sign up sheets, after scrawling his name on both he grabbed a handful of treats from the table and sat down in one of the chairs.

"So is this usually a big club?" The young Ravenclaw asked pulling out his spell book to see if there was anything in there he'd like to try.

[Vladimir Zhefarovich]

Vladimir Zhefarovich entered the room where the Student Defence Association was located. He was followed with two other members of his family. One being his cousin and the other being his half-uncle. It was a strange family, but it seemed like they were all thinking the same thing when it came down to this. It was all about dueling. Vladimir looked to the new president, before shifting his eyes to the sign up sheet. He grabbed his quill and a bottle of ink before signing his name neatly. He passed the sign up sheet to his other family members, before he stood off to the side. The president was Head Girl, but his silence said everything. He didn't give a damn.​

[Ivaylo Zhefarovich-Dolohov]

Ivaylo Zhefarovich-Dolohov followed the newly announced prefect of their house. Ivaylo would have been happy for Vladimir if his sister didn't run off with some male. Ivaylo was very unhappy about that, but luckily, it was hard to hide from the eyes of the Zhefarovich family. Whatever, at least he had his girlfriend. Ivaylo watched as Vladimir signed first, before Ivaylo followed suit. He made sure that his name was as neat as possible, despite how long it was. Ivaylo heard a first year ask if this was usually a big club. Ivaylo spoke in his direction, without so much as looking at the kid, "It can be. It is mostly consisted of those fond of dueling, I presume." That was the only reason why he, Lucien, and Vladimir joined up to begin with. He looked to the head girl before nodding his head toward her. He would congratulate her, but she was alone. She needed all the help she could get.​

[Lucien Snow]

Lucien Snow wondered what had Ivaylo on edge. Ivaylo actually had one smoking hot girlfriend, but he wasn't sure that he thought of it like Lucien did. Oh well. Lucien didn't want to have anything to do with females or males right now. He wanted to stay by himself. This was a good year, and he would start with it a huge start. Lucien waited for his turn to sign up for the club. He signed his name once more, and again for the dueling tournament. He loved it when he participated. He looked toward the president before he gave a small nod, "Congrats on becoming head girl. And president of the club. Good luck." Lucien was being somewhat truthful. He shook his head. He looked toward a first year in the room, and wondered who in their right minds would join as a first year. They would barely know any spells. Lucien rolled his eyes and stood with his family members.

[Esme Lancaster]

Upon entering the Dueling Chamber, Esme Lancaster strode over to the section of the room where the Student's Defence Association was located, as she had done multiple times in the past, and approached the front most table where the sign up sheets were already waiting. She'd seen the posters hung up around the school and figured she'd participate in another year of the clubs activities, particularly looking forward to any dueling matches. She had to make up for her losses in the previous tournament.

Coming to a stop at the edge of the table, Esme flashed a brief smile at the girl seated close by, whom she presumed was the newest president for the club. She had no idea what her name was, however. The witch rarely paid attention to the majority of other students in the school. She could barely even recall the prefects of her house. That was probably something she needed to make an effort to change. Shrugging to herself, she picked up the provided quill and jotted down her name onto each list. There was no way she was going to miss out on this year's competition.

Glancing back up from the parchment, her eyes caught sight of a familiar face. Of course he would have signed up too. Perhaps this was her chance to make up for her failure last time. Making her way deliberately over to the Slytherin boy, the girl picked out a liquorice wand from one of the snack tables she passed and twirled it in the air, as if casting a spell. "Lucien! I hope you're ready this year, you've got some serious competition. I won't be going easy on you again." She smiled, her tone playful. Biting into the end of the treat, she tossed her hair to one side as she glanced back towards the door, wondering who else would be signing up.

This year was a big step up for rhiannon. she had passed her OWLs and was now ready to face her two years of NEWT study. on top of this she was still prefect and had been given control of club academia. she had just completed the sign ups for her own club wen she thought of all the clubs she was meaning to re register for. she made a list and the next morning checked the noticeboard and saw that today the student defence association had its sign ups. she headed down to the dungens and looked around there were already quote a few people there many of whom were sporting slytherin green. and it looked as though the head girl was running it. she had already spoken to aaren at the perfects meeting to congratulate her but she smiled "Hello Aaren." she said before nodding greeting at everyone else. "i thought i would bring some hufflepuff yellow into the mix" she said commenting that she was the only member of her house here. a total opposite to the academia sign ups where all the members to arrive first were hufflepuff. She looked at the pages on the table one was a sign up for the cub, the other was for the duelling tournament. "I am sorry but i dont think i will be signing up for duelling this time around. I just cant see myself having the time" she said but picked up the quill and signed her nam on the members list.

[Graeme Fergusson]

Graeme had always enjoyed Defence Against the Dark Arts as well as the student Defence Association. He doubted that he'd ever end up in a job where he was to be using any of it, but it was good fun and Graeme enjoyed testing his magic in a situation that was a whole mound more difficult. It had better and interesting elements, he had to think more on his feet and the practical work in his mind was far more desirable than sitting in a boring classroom. He smiled to himself. Despite this being his OWLs year, the boy wasn't overly concerned. He was keen to do well, but he just needed to pass the classes. He wasn't looking for anything much better than a pass in any of them. He was heading to the SDA sign-ups and feeling pretty good. He wanted to get started with duelling and to be able to put his spells in real practical work. Smiling to himself he greeted the head girl, who was in charge, and then the wider rest of the room. Graeme signed his name and then also for the duelling.

[Victoire Fontaine]

Not being the kind of person who liked to fight Victoire had come to really love being able to take part in duelling. She thought it was good fun. She liked being able to push herself and taking part in things that she wasn't particularly good at. She wanted to make herself get better and she knew that in doing that she would need to start really taking her classes and things seriously. This SDA club was the one club that she wasn't just interested in having some fun in the arts and the club academia were fun sure. She liked them a lot but that didn't mean that she really was pushing herself in them. In this she would have to. A mistake could cost her. Victoire, being muggleborn knew that in this world when people found out it might be practical for her to being able to fight back, and not just cower away or talk to them.

[Avie Mitchell]

Avie had been a part of the Student's Defence Association, but had never taken part in any of the duels. This was different from now. He had decided that he would give it his best try. He would try his hardest and maybe, just maybe he would be able to get better at casting spells. Avie's mind was pretty busy a lot of the time. He moved from one things to another never really settling on any one thing, which made it difficult for the teen to occasionally cast spells, but this time around he was looking forward to it. He was going to be trying his hardest at this. And he was ready for it. Entering the room, Avie easily spotted Lucien and Esme, they seemed to be talking about something, and Avie took the opportunity to just sign the sheet to sign himself up for both of the things. He knew that he would probably really hate the duelling but Avie didn't care, he was giving this his best try.

[Isaiah Jeffreys]

Isaiah believed in a good many things, and tried his hardest to believe in and practice non-violence. However, this proved difficult. While not entirely quick to anger, sometimes when he was annoyed he couldn't stop himself from leaving behind words and just flying for the person. He tried his hardest to keep calm, but in essence he thought that an outlet for him would be easier. He had no idea if this was the best decision for him, joining the SDA, but he wanted to make more friends and have the opportunity to take out his anger in a controlled manner, it just meant that he was leaving most of pacifism behind if he did this. Which the teen found he was actually surprisingly ok with. Entering the room, the ravenclaw realised that he didn't know any of these people, and as far as he was aware none of these people were in his year either. Was that a good thing or a bad thing he couldn't help but think. Discarding those thoughts, he gave his congratulations to the head girl and then, signed himself up.

[Zechariah Powell]

Zechariah didn't care much for socialising and had yet to attend any of the school run events such as the Yule Ball or the Halloween Feast, it was all too fun for him. The only things in this school that Zechariah really cared about were Quidditch and dueling. He was on a winning team with Quidditch and he enjoyed being part of that, the fact that he was a beater was an added bonus as it meant he got to let out all his pent up anger. Dueling was his other vice at the school pretty much for the same reason he liked being a beater on the Slytherin Quidditch Team. As dueling didn't happen all too often Zechariah took up joining the SDA as it was as close to dueling as he was going to get. Entering the meeting area he signed his name on the list and took a seat in the back corner as he waited for the meeting to be over.

[Stella Lagowski]

Until Stella had overheard a conversation on the fourth floor corridor, she had known nothing of the Student's Defence Association, nor had she assumed something of the sort might exist. However upon hearing where it was taking place, she headed straight down to the duelling chamber to sign up. Stella highly doubted she would ever have to defend herself, but it certainly didn't hurt to be cautious. She had been trained in martial arts as a child, long before she had discovered she was a Witch, and it was the one skill she was grateful to have.

Stella headed down the steps and into the duelling chamber, expecting to see a room filled with students young and old alike. The realisation sank in fairly quickly. This was not a club many first years were coming to. In fact, the majority of the students were in years several above Stella's. She swallowed nervously, trying not to look as though she was completely terrified of the older students, and wandered over to the sign-up area. Not letting her concerns dampen her enthusiasm, Stella quickly scribbled her name down underneath the other signatures and shot a fleeting smile toward the head girl.

Stella drifted across the room, her eyes lighting up as she spied the snacks on a side table. She casually popped a few treats into her mouth, hoping that nobody would bother her, or question her presence in a room full of older and, much, much more talented witches and wizards.

Tomas shrugged to himself as he approached the Student Defence Association, knowing that it was very close to the Common room, and he had enjoyed his time there, so why not? The Slytherin chewed on his bottom lip as he entered, and saw a small group of students already present, including the Head girl herself, some Gryffindor chick he didn't know. He waited for the parchment to be passed to him by some little girl, and nodded his thanks to her. He looked it over, grateful that the name of his younger brother was not here. However, he was slightly disappointed to not find his sisters' names, and had been tempted to just add them himself and inform the two girls of what he had done afterwards, but decided against it, and scribbled his own name down.
