Entering the busy chamber, which was already filled with students whom had gathered to watch their favourite, or least favourite professors duel, Katherine gestured for the two combatants to take their places on opposite ends of the platform, and took a moment to explain the rules set in place, out of a formality more than anything by this stage. Enough duels had taken place in the school for its staff to be aware of how it worked by now, though in this case the new Flying instructor may have benefitted most from an introduction. Between the two, Josephs had many more years worth of experience over Holland, but as had been proven in the last wizarding war, age did not necessarily make one a decent magical combatant, so it was anyones guess as to who the victor could be. Stepping away from the platform, the Headmistress took her place on a further elevated podium, and raised her hands for attention. "Duelists, prepare yourselves." The woman called, allowing the two a moment to bow. "Commence."

Ensure you have read the Duelling Points and Duelling Rules topics before posting. The Acceptable Spells By Year topic may also be useful for ideas and guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Below is a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, disarmed or otherwise incapacitated and unable to cast any more spells with a wand, you lose. If you run out of points, you also lose.
The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post within the next 24 hours, they are disqualified.

Grace still didn't feel entirely comfortable with her job here at Hogwarts. Every single one of her colleagues she had spoken to had been very nice to her so far, but she still felt a bit like a child next to them. Signing up for the tournament had partly been to prove herself, but now that she was standing here she was starting to doubt her decision. She bowed to the Ancient Runes Professor before taking out her wand and shooting off the first spell of the duel. "Stupefy!" It was basic, but Grace felt like there was no reason to beat around the bush. Knocking out her opponent was the surest way to win.

Standing across from her duelling opponent, Kahurangi was more nervous than she had felt in a long while. It had been years since she had actually taken Defense Against the Dark Arts, and though she had done a little practice in preparation for the duels, she was still feeling incredibly rusty. The Boggart incident last year had been a harsh wakeup call that she couldn't expect to simply be safe and cushy in her job, getting in some real practice using defensive magic felt important, but it had been so long, and Kahurangi's opponent's youth could be an advantage. All of this was much more recent for the Flying professor, surely Defense classes were still fresh in her mind. Kahurangi bowed to her opponent, trying to ignore her nerves as she steadied herself. She had to do her best, not just for herself, but to be a good example for the students watching. Kahurangi had expected the younger woman to want to strike first, prepared to shield herself once the duel began. "Protego!" She cast, barely managing to get her shield up in time. Kahurangi had spent time thinking about her strategy. She wanted to make sure early on that her opponent wouldn't be able to strike back at her easily. "Langlock!" Kahurangi cast back at her opponent quickly, hoping that stopping the younger woman from talking would be enough to give her the edge, at least temporarily.
