Syrus should've known better. He should've expected the moment he called out the position. Well, it was his fault for NOT knowing before hand. That the position he randomly selected was already met for someone else. He didn't care though, all he wanted, all he really desire was to play the game before he graduated. When he read the lineup, he saw his name and the word alternative before it. Good enough. Then why he felt so pressed up getting alternative? It's typical of him. To let out all the uncalled for aggression, he decided to head for the pitch. With his nimbus in hand, Syrus made his way down to the pitch. There were some randoms in sight that he paid very little mind to. As long as they didn't get in his way of flying, Syrus wouldn't care to acknowledge them. Syrus mounted his broom and took off.

Alternate. The word conjured up a feeling of disappointment in the Gryffindor that she hadn't expected to feel. James had once been an alternate and things had turned out well enough for him but when an open spot presented itself Jess had been sure she had done well enough to earn it but in truth she hadn't considered the returning alternates in the equation. She was disappointed in herself but she was still on the team, that had to count for something and she was sure Leila would act like being an alternate was a big deal to make her feel good about it.

She may have been an alternate but Jessica Cade was determined to be the best she could be and that had brought her to being out on the pitch with her broom in hand and apparently she wasn't the only one who had thought the same. Mounting her broom Jess did a couple of laps of the pitch before she brought herself level with the boy and her fellow alternate. "You feel as bad as I do about making alternate?" She asked the boy brushing her long blonde hair out of her eyes.

Syrus took a tour around the pitch several times. Every time he scored a lap he would go faster than the last. The adrenaline flew through his veins and he didn't want it to stop. Apparently, he wasn't the only Gryffindor who felt vexed over the alternative status. He crossed path with another, a blonde. James's little sister? "Bad is an understatement, if I'm being perfectly honest with you." Syrus slowed his way down, leveling off with the other. It could be worst, he couldn't have made the team at all. Merrill gave him the chance, that counted.

"So, being James little sister didn't guarantee you a spot?" Syrus question the girl, a small smirk playing across his lips. He didn't have nothing against the blonde, nor James. It's the wanting to play and make the team, he sure his father had passed that down to him. Syrus remembered the man being a competitive type, especially with muggels sports. Syrus must've inherited that from his dad, definitely. "That's too bad, you're good."

Jess smiled and nodded at the boy. She understood how he felt, she felt silly for being worked up over it. She didn't really deserve to walk into the over hard working alternates from previous years but she couldn't help it. Being the younger sister of James put certain pressure on her. He had been captain for three years and won championships in his time, if she wasn't careful she'd be an alternate her whole school career. The stupid thing was Jess didn't want to be a professional player like James she just didn't want to be a failure compared to him. "I get it,"

The boy seemed to know who James was which wasn't surprising but also that she was his sister which was. "Being James's sister is why it took so long to make the team," With high tryout numbers James had kept Jess off the team to not show favouritism. Jess blushed when the boy told her she was good, he was cute, a year ago she wouldn't have noticed but now she'd pulled herself out of the abyss (with a lot of help) Jess was more open to things. "Thanks, you were impressive too, Syrus right?"
