Professor Burke was wandering around the classroom as the students arrived, placing a small box with holes in it on each desk. "Welcome! I want to get things rolling quickly. Take a seat." She smiled as she placed the last box out and returned to her own desk in the front of the room.

"Today we will be focusing on untransfiguration and nonverbal spells. Does anyone remember what untransfiguration is?" she asked the class. A student raised their hand. "Yes?" she asked, pointing to the student who raised their hand first. She nodded. "You must have been paying attention last lesson. Great answer." She paused, then started to pace the aisle between the desks. "In the boxes on your desk you contain frogs. You will be transfiguring them into grasshoppers and back to frogs, using nonverbal spells. Just for review, who can tell me what the spell is for this transfiguration?" she asked. She nodded at another student, who gave her the correct spell. "Exactly."

"The main thing to remember is to focus. You don't want to be thinking of a dog or cat and end up with a very odd animal. You will use the three tap method of course. You may verbalize the spell, but I would like each of you to also practice it non-verbally. You will change the frog to a grasshopper, then back to a frog, like this." She moved to the closest desk and opened the box. She took out the frog and placed it on the desk, tapping it three times. With a bit of a poof, the frog quickly became a grasshopper. Another three taps and the frog was back. "Any questions before we begin?" she asked. Seeing none, she gave the students the go ahead to start practicing.



Homework: RP the lesson. First poster answer the first question, second person answer the second question. Good luck!

Noemie was happy with the new leadership in the monthly, though she was a co-editor, the girl was pretty happy with the new person leading it. Noemie though she was in a position to manage didn’t want to do much more than that. She knew that upon leaving school, it might’ve looked a little better if she had been doing a little more in it when it would come to applying for jobs, but Noemie was worried that her grades would slip further if she didn’t concentrate a lot upon them. She had back seats in positions of authority and a quidditch position, she couldn’t afford to lay off working hard now. The teen was getting ready for the day, she had done her usual morning run, spent time get herself pumped up for the rest of the day and feeling pretty happy about the state of her life. She was a seventh year and it was really dawning on her slowly that this would be her final year of school. She was trying to make the most of it entirely. The girl put her hair up in a loose bun as she gathered up the rest of what she needed for the day and headed out to the first class of the day.
Noemie walked into the transfiguration classroom and took her seat in the room. She looked towards the front as the professor began the lesson, asking them all a question. She thought she knew the answer to it, but decided to not reply. She didn’t feel certain enough about her answer to want to say it in front of everyone else in the class. The part-veela just listened as someone else answered the first question and then someone else answered the second. She remembered the incantation for the spell they were doing. They would be doing the spell non-verbally too which would add a layer of difficulty. She got the frog from the professor and visualised it become a grasshopper remembering the spell that they would be doing. It had been some time since she’d specifically had to do that spell, but she knew nonetheless that she had to get it. Noemie cleared her mind and only thought about changing the frog to the grasshopper. She tapped three times and watched it happily change to a grasshopper. The girl stopped the grasshopper from getting very far and then did the spell again but in reverse, she tapped three times but nothing happened. It took her a few more attempts to get it to change back, clearly it was a slightly more challenging thing. She was able to practice a few more times before the lesson was wrapped up and she was packed up and left the room.

Rory was frustrated as the semester progressed. His brother being at the school was beginning to annoy him quite a bit more than he’d thought it would. His brother kept wanting to talk to him, to talk about what had happened, but Rory would rather ignore it. He could and had to just focus on the classes he had and the future. The boy came in from an early quidditch practice, he was finding that flying and quidditch were helping him quite a lot, allowing him the time to just relax a bit more. The teen had always liked flying but now that he would need a job there was more pressure to it and he was fairing better. He didn’t feel particularly happy most of the time, losing his family in such a way had been tricky and he knew that his parents were keeping in touch with Aonghas and not sparing much of a thought to him. What did it matter really now. Rory had to just look beyond it and focus, stop being so melancholy all the time. He didn’t have the time for all of that. Rory got showered and changed and gathered up everything he would need for the day before heading out of the room and to the class.
Rory walked into the transfiguration classroom and took his usual spot in the room. He was eager to just get the lesson over with, with quidditch at the end of the week he had to focus upon that instead. The slytherin looked up at the professor as the woman got started on what they would be learning, which he knew from the prior week would just be learning to undo the transfiguration spell that he’d do in the class, which would help him undo other transfiguration spells he might do later. That was the point of the class after all. The teen listened as the professor gave her short lecture, spending time asking them the question before letting them know which spell they would be doing and then practicing to undo. The teen took a frog as it was handed to him. He placed it down upon his desk in front of him and pointed his wand, he did the first side of the spell, easily, since he had practiced some of non-verbal magic outside of classes. The teen took a few more attempts to change it back, a few times he almost got it, but then it failed. Finally he managed to get it. From then he struggled less transfiguring the frog back and forth until the lesson was brought to an end, he packed up his things and left the room.

Making her way into Transfiguration, Ainsley was excited for what they would be learning this week. She took her usual seat, peering curiously through a hole of the box sitting on her desk. It was a little too dark to make out what was in the box so she just waited for class to begin, setting her wand next to the box, as it seemed like they would be required. Once the lesson began, Ainsley listened to Professor Burke reminding them what they would be doing. She raised her hand to answer the question, smiling when she was chosen. “Untransfiguration spells reverse transfigurations that have already been done and return things to their proper form.” She raised her hand again for the second question, lowering it when someone else was chosen.

Once Professor Burke had told them to begin she did just that, carefully opening her box. The frog inside reminded her of her early Transfiguration spells, and Ainsley focused on exactly what she wanted to happen as she cast the spell to turn it into a locust. A task that had been so difficult when she was young felt so simple now and she was proud of her progress, as the frog changed form easily. Once she was sure the spell had worked, Ainsley focused had as she prepared her wand and cast the untransfiguration. She focused on the frog that had been there before, and to Ainsley's delight, the locust took frog form once more. Once Ainsley felt confident with the spell she tested it out nonverbally as well, and was pleased to find that it worked just as well. Proud of her work, Ainsley set her frog carefully back in its box for the professor at the end of class.

Amber had gotten used to her new title as head girl, but it still made her very happy to pin the badge to her robes every morning. She was a little nervous about her seventh year, but was also confident that hard work and perseverance would ensure she got the results she wanted. That had always been her way. She had been enjoying being back with her friends, and was happy to help Evelyn out with Heta Omega. She had been sad two years ago when the other girl had been picked for president instead of her, but as she looked at her workload now, she was kind of glad she didn't have to run the club and could just help out.

Amber had always found Transfiguration a difficult subject, but also knew it was an important one. She was curious what they would do during this lesson, and quickly took her seat next to Ainsley. She listened as her girlfriend answered the Professor's question, and gave her a proud smile. There had been a time when Ainsley had been far too shy to do something like that, and though it was long ago, it was really remarkable how much her girlfriend had grown over the years since they had first met. The professor told them that the boxes on their desks contained frogs, and that they would have to transfigure them into grasshoppers and then untransfiguring them back to grogs, using nonverbal spells. At her question, Amber raised her hand. "Locusta." She said with confidence. She took a few notes on what the professor said about performing such a spell, and how to perform it. She was glad they were allowed to verbalize if necessary, even if the professor asked them to practice it non-verbally. She watched as the professor demonstrated, but had no questions to ask before beginning. She couldn't help a small grimace as she took the frog out of the box. She changed it into a grasshopper without too much trouble, and then cast the untransfiguration. She tried her best to do it non verbally, and it took her a few tries before it worked. Amber was proud of herself, and proud of Ainsley as well. She asked Ainsley to put the frog back in the box for her, then left the classroom together.

Flavio's second week of classes was going well, and he had been feeling confident and happy to learn more in the subject of transfiguration as he arrived to his next lesson. Though after sitting down and watching as the professor placed small boxes with holes on each desk, this confidence changed. It would be a shame for him to be asked to hurt animals by vanishing them again, especially now that he was more comfortable and actually enjoying transfiguration as a subject, and he did not want to refuse to take part in a lesson and risk getting in trouble or losing points for it. Swallowing the lump in his throat, Flavio kept quiet as the professor asked the class about the previous lesson, only feeling less anxious when the woman said the class would only be transfiguring the frogs into grasshoppers and back. He listened to another person in the class answer the second question and watched the demonstration, waiting until the class was instructed to begin before attempting to transfigure the frog himself.
He was relieved that at least he wasn't vanishing the frog, but wondered a little what the morality was in transfiguring one animal into another. Frogs and grasshoppers were obviously different animals and he imagined it wouldn't be a comfortable switch, but tried to focus on the fact there was no doubt the animal was still alive since that seemed less awful than simply vanishing it out of existence. Flavio began his attempts to turn the frog into a grasshopper verbally, using the three tap method of course, and then eventually attempted to transfigure the creature without saying the incantation. It took a few tries but with focus he managed to transfigure the creature successfully from one form to another.
