Sitting behind her large mahogany desk Kida was accepting her newest student to the flying academy. The girl seemed bright, she had a good head on her shoulders and was a very good seeker who had caught her attention, she had a graceful elegance about her, she flew through the sky as if she controlled the wind and moved it to assist her. Shuffling the papers in front of her she smiled and stood up from her chair and extended her hand out to the blonde girl sitting in front of her 'Well, you seem like a wonderful fit here Ms Monarch, I'll work on getting your papers for your parents here to sign and assign you a room, uniform and study essentials and in the meantime, I will get one of our student heads to give you a full tour of the grounds'

Walking towards her office door she guided the new student out and held the door open for her 'If you need anything my office is always open and in the mean time...' Kida walked out of the office and to one of the common areas and walked towards a young boy who was sitting on one of the large tables 'Leonidas, this is Astrid Monarch, she will be joining us here, Could you please give her a full tour of the grounds and bring her back to my office once you're done' she smiled at her son and turned around to head back towards her office.

Leonidas had some books spread out in front of him although it may have looked like he was studying for a test or something he was actually mapping out a new broom race course on the grounds of the school, he had just found a spell which would help perfect his marker hoops and his Mum had given him a muggle style stop watch for timing his laps. changing pens he heard the distinctive sound of his mothers voice coming from the direction of his office, he heard his name and he looked up to see a blonde girl looking at him, he discretely closes the books he had open squishing his map between the pages as he stands up and nods slightly towards the girl, she was really pretty in an enchanting kind of way.

His mother left them alone and he exhaled
'well, Hi' he started with as the girl hadn't spoken yet 'Welcome to Frost Academy, I'm Leonidas, and you're Astrid right?' he said repeating the information he had been given to make sure he had the right name, he'd given a few of these tours by now and he'd accidentally once or twice spent the entire tour calling the student by the wrong name 'So, Follow me, I'll start the tour' Leonidas had a system with the tours by now, he followed the same route but his mother had strictly told him to take his time and not try make it a best time tour and to answer questions. Taking the girl to the entrance of the school he took his school blazer off a hook and put it on and took a deep breath to start their tour 'So this is the front door, It'll be probably the place you will see most of the famous Quidditch players who come to visit, we have some of them guest teach lessons...'

Astrid didn't want to show it, but she was nervous. A new school, a new home, it was all quite overwhelming. To top it all off, here she was in front of a woman she admired for some time and had never expected to actually meet, let alone be personally invited to her specialised academy. It was a dream come true. She had to stop herself from pinching her arm to make sure it was real. "Thank you so much for this opportunity, Professor Frost." She said sincerely. She had always been confident in her flying abilities, but she never would have guessed she'd attract any real attention. Astrid followed the headmistress out of her office, her hands clasped firmly beind her back, and smiled politely at the boy she was introduced to. She had been intrigued by the sorts of other students she would meet at the academy, and so far he was the first she'd come across. He was admittedly cuter than she expected. "Thank you, it's great to be here." She replied once Kida had walked away, leaving her with her new tour guide. She nodded to confirm her name, and slowly waltzed after the boy while he lead her around, taking the time to soak in the sights. It was different from the castle she was used to. She surpressed a laugh when he showed her the front door, where she'd first entered the academy from. "I wouldn't have guessed!" She said with a playful smile. She raised her brows, interested to hear that other players frequented the building. "Including more of the Tuscan Charmers, I assume?" She asked. She knew that the Headmistress had a daughter on the team, who had become quite famous due to her age when joining the team. It was inspiring, and had given Astrid hope to do the same.

'Ah, I see that you're a smart once, did you know some kids these days are confused when an entrance isn't a fireplace' The boy quipped back completely missing the fact that she was being playful with him. 'I think once every few weeks the schedule lines up at the Charmers train here, Professor Frost also sometimes holds endurance training for the squad every quarter to make sure everyone's up to speed' Leonidas was proud of his mother, his entire life he had spent around popular Quidditch professionals, he still didn't quite grasp the entire star struck concept.

Walking further into the school and spread his arms at the main common room before him, the walls lined with books on various magical topics but the main shelf was full of books about Quidditch and flying techniques from various authors, there were brooms hanging from the walls which were probably some of the finest crafted brooms anyone in Quidditch would come across.
'Welcome to the main common room, the school has three, that's why its a common room' Leo had practiced that joke on many tours, it at least got a smile 98% of the time 'It also doubles as our library'
Turning on his heels he started walking to the left which lead to a hall of rooms containing desks, he opened a door to a classroom filled with drying herbs and potion pots the sun streamed in to make the room almost glow 'Potions are held in here, we have classrooms for all disciplines of magic' showing her out he quickly showed her all the other rooms, some of which were already being used for classes so they were filled with students wearing their stylish uniform, Leonidas wasn't one for fashion but he had yet to find a student the uniform didn't flatter.

The Quidditch professional in training showed Astrid the Kitchens plus the other common room which has a full skylight allowing the sun to stream in and to look up at the skys you could see some students on brooms zip overhead, It was more plush than the first, you could generally find more students napping in the sun.
'So this is...' he paused awkwardly as he noticing the sunlight illuminate her hair he was mid description of the room 'moving on' he forgot to describe the room at all and went forward to the dorms which was on the second level 'Our dorms are all on the same floor, with two sometimes three to a dorm, You'll probably be paired with another girl in your skill level' he said, There was only one student who had a single share room which was him which sometimes he felt guilty for, but he liked his space.

Taking Astrid out to the fields they could see the stretch of land down the mountain, it was peaceful up here some days as the wind moved through the threes
'and the reason we're all here, the Pitches, we have 4 above ground pitches located throughout the mountains plus one underground pitch which is for only when the weather is too aggressive' the boy explained taking her to a vacant pitch which was surrounded by trees to imitate where the audience would be 'So, which Quidditch player would you most want to guest coach?' he asked completely off script.

Astrid gave the boy a funny look at hearing his fireplace comment, and let out a small laugh. It wasn't really so farfetched. She'd only ever entered Ministry buildings through the floo network instead of a door. The prospect of getting to watch some famous Quidditch players train around the school was exciting, and she pushed past the nervousness and into excitement. Continuing the tour, she slowed down to admire some of the brooms on display. It made sense that a professional player would collect rare and quality items in her field, and what better place to display them than a flying academy?

The common room joke elicited a smile and an amused hum as Astrid suppressed a giggle. It was a first she'd heard a joke like that and she found it refreshing. Coming into a specialised school, she had an idea of what it would be like. Strict, unforgiving, formal. She'd been prepared to endure it if it meant learning from the best, and so the humour was a nice touch. The lack of an actual library was another difference she would need to get used to, unlike the expansive library of the castle she'd left behind. A smaller academy meant less features, and books were hardly useful for learning such a physically demanding skill.

It was with a small relief that Leonidas showed Astrid the classrooms, and she realised she wouldn't have to entirely forego some of her essential classes. Giving up on a few of her electives had been a sacrifice she was more than willing to make in order to pursue her dreams, and since none of them really followed what she wanted to do in her future, it had been an easy decision. She continued to follow the boy, and stopped to look overhead in awe. Her attention was caught on her new classmates flying overhead, so few compared to the hundreds she was used to seeing milling about in corridors. It was cozier. She lost herself in looking up at the sky, that she almost didn't realise her tour guide had moved on. Had she missed what he'd said? Or did he not go into detail? It hadn't felt like long. She hurried after him, coolly acting as if she'd been paying attention.

The outside was the highlight Astrid had been waiting for. What the academy lacked in its interior facilities like the other schools, it made up in its exterior. This was what the school was all about. "I am...impressed." She breathed. There was no other word for it. They were dedicated to Quidditch and flying, and there was nowhere else in the world she'd have rather been. She turned her head to face Leonidas, tucking stray strands of hair behind her ear while she thought about his question. It was a tough choice. "I would have to say...anyone from the Quibberon Quafflepunchers, or the Holyhead Harpies." She decided. It was too difficult to find one player she favoured, especially with the current longest reigning player already in charge. More than twenty years of experience was bound to take her far. "Only because Professor Frost isn't a guest. Dare I ask who you would pick?" She said with a hint of genuine curiosity. There were both raised in different countries, and she wasn't as familiar with his local Macaws and Keas as she was with other teams closer to her home.

Leonidas loved being outside, their school location was hidden in the hills, the initial climb was too dangerous for any muggle to attempt which kept them safe from being stumbled upon, but once you made it past that there was so much space, the school buildings itself was tucked away surrounded by trees, but enough space that the sun would hit certain spots of the school every day lighting it up making it not feel dusty and draining like other schools he had heard of.
The pitches were his all time favourite, there were two which weren't always used, they were more endurance pitches which was sometimes lent out to teams to do some high altitude training, another pitch was located in a perfect geographical spot where the wind seemed to rush through the fastest. But the main three were located near the school. Astrid thought about her answer carefully and he cracked a slight smile, he loved seeing the different levels of enthusiasm people had for the sport, some students wanted to one up him on his knowledge, some acted too cool to fan over Quidditch because they would be the next best thing, but Astrid seemed to breathe the sport like most good players did.
Nodding with her answer he replied
'The Harpies are a really good team' he paused for a moment 'The Wimbourne Wasps as well, I like their fly in celebration for matches, always a good laugh' he chuckled thinking of a match her attended where they cast a bunch of wasps to scare people before they showed up, it wasn't allowed ever again, some Wizards can't take a joke.

The boy walked further onto the field realizing he had paused the tour to ask the unnecessary question
'So, anyway, this is our main pitch, directly under this pitch is the underground pitch I mentioned before, and if you move over here...' He walked right to the centre of the field and took a few little steps looking up to the peak 'May I?' he gently put his hands on the girls shoulders and bent down a little to line his head up with hers to move her into the right position 'If you look right up there at the peak you can see three rings poking out, That's our advanced endurance course' he realised he had let his hands linger for a bit too long and quickly let go and took a step back, rubbing the back of his neck he wasn't one for much physical contact, but something about the girl made him want to show her everything he could about the school.
'Do you know what position you're going to specialise in?'

Astrid would not have guessed Leonidas was a Stinger. She wasn't sure why. The Wimbourne Wasps weren't local to New Zealand, and her first opinion was of something closer to home, but her choices weren't native to her country either. The French team came from her mothers background, and if the Harpies weren't all all-female team, she couldn't say with any certainty that she'd have followed them as closely. She smiled at his choice. She did have to agree that they were an entertaining team to watch.

Following her classmate onto the pitch, Astrid stopped to soak in the sight. She dropped her gaze to the lawn beneath their feet and tested its solidity with the tip of her boot. If he hadn't told her there was a hollowed out space in the mountain beneath them, she wouldn't have been able to tell they were stood above another field. Flying competitively in an enclosed space was a new concept to her, and another aspect of the academy she was excited to partake in. Feeling Leonidas' hands on her shoulders she looked back up at him, and followed his line of sight overhead. It was high up, where the air had to be much thinner than where they were stood. There didn't seem to be an aspect of flying they didn't cover. She hadn't thought she could be more impressed.

Astrid absently raised her hands to her shoulders after Leonidas let them go. She was used to the cold, but this high on the mountain made the chill of the air more evident. She listened to his question and felt a resurgence of confidence. The academy was new and intimidating, but this was a question she could answer without a second thought. "I'm a seeker. I always have been." She told him. She was one of the best flyers at her old school, and she knew it. Seeker had been a natural choice. "I want to be the difference between a win and a loss, and I don't lose." She smiled. "What's your specialty?" She responded in turn. She had her guesses judging by his physique, but she'd been surprised by people before. A shadow passing by distracted her, and she looked up at one of her classmates from earlier lapping the pitch. "There's something else I wanted to ask about, but I didn't get a moment to ask Professor Frost. Are we allowed our own brooms here?" She asked curiously. She was attached to hers, it had gotten her through thick and thin, and she hadn't been told otherwise so she had brought it along with the rest of her luggage.

The Girl commented on being a seeker, she did look like a seeker, and a confident one at that, he had seen this confidence before in his older sister Scarlet, she was a Beater who didn't take no for an answer, it was something he admired in her ability 'That's a big burden to put on your shoulders' he commented wondering if she had actually lost a game before, considering they were approaching the big leagues now the competition was better and the stakes were higher, if she hadn't dealt with losing a game before it might break someone.
'My Specialty?' anyone who knew his family could take a easy swing at what his position was, 'I play Beater, although we're encouraged here to be able to play any position' Leonidas resisted the urge to pretend to swing a bat to avoid looking too ridiculous in front of the new student.

Following the gaze of Astrid he watched his fellow student fly above them, he tilted his head slightly when the girl asked about bringing their own brooms and he chuckled at the thought, Imagining a school which had standard issue brooms for everyone, no variety or changes in any way wouldn't make a good Quidditch player.
'Absolutely, it's encouraged to have your own broom any make or model as long as it's within regulations' Something within Leonidas wanted to impress the new girl, he had completely forgot that he was meant to be giving her a tour and he still had the recovery facilities to show her, instead he turned towards the opposite corner of the pitch and gestured for her to follow him 'Each player is unique in their own way, and Professor Frost believes that It's not just limited to our abilities but our Brooms, our Uniform and even for me down to my bat, The grip is custom and so are my arm guards in case I do take a hit' passing the border of the pitch he walked into the trees surrounding and followed a small loose stone path which seemed to wind for a bit. Checking that Astrid wasn't scared at the boundary and was following a boy she had just met into a forest he kept on walking until they approached a cabin.

'Professor Frost actually makes custom brooms and has been for years' He put his hand on the door and pressed down on the thumb lock opening it for Astrid to go inside, there was a small gold plaque on the door which said No Students Allowed which was put in place as a more muggle preventative than a magical one to encourage respect, but Leonidas didn't have to follow that rule. Once inside the boy raised his arms to present the workshop which was definitely larger on the inside than it was on the outside, but still quite modest, 'Tada' he added for a bit of flare.
Along the walls were cupboards containing various materials and brooms lined up vertically along side them, the workshop smelt very woody as there were a few piles of wood which would be later fashioned into the shaft of a broom.
'What do you think?' he asked

Attending a new school was new and unfamiliar, so Astrid was thankful she could keep hold of her personal broom. She didn't doubt that any brooms the flying academy had were bad, or unfit for her, but they weren't hers. She was curious to know what the boy meant by within regulations, although she assumed that meant any tampering or irregular modifications. Hers was a classic, and the only changes had been wear and tear over time.

The girl followed her tour guide past the treeline and into a forest, assuming that she was being led to another location on the tour route to really question it. She ducked beneath branches to keep them from clinging to her hair, and stopped outside the entrance to a lone cabin. She hung by the door, shooting the sign a questioning look. "Hum..." She muttered thoughtfully, and peered into the cabin from the doorway, without crossing the threshold. Now that she thought about it and could look around, she realised how remote they were from the rest of the school. This wasn't simply a pitch further up the mountain, and the No Students Allowed sign did not evoke any welcoming feeling. Was he trying to get her in trouble, she wondered? Some sort of hazing ritual for beginners. "Are we allowed to be here?" She said instead of answering his question, her fingertip tapping against the sign pointedly. She wasn't stupid, and if he thought she was, he had another thing coming.

Leonidas walked in and picked up a long bit of wood which had been carved out but not smoothed or polished yet and assessed it's weight and balance in his hands, he had drawn up the design for this broom but he hadn't seen it since he gave his mother the sketch, he had designed it to be a sleek racing broom and was looking up muggle textbooks on aerodynamics and seeing if he could apply them to the broom to allow him to get the most speed from a broom without sacrificing it's sturdiness. Inspecting the cut of wood he hadn't noticed that Astrid hadn't walked into the workshop, he spun the wood around in his hands before placing it back where he got it and moved over towards another stack of wood sorted by the different types, he always tried to pick a piece on it's feel and hoped that it had really good patterns once it got carved, he picked one piece once which was a light wood which apparently had dark rings throughout making it a very sought after piece, he let his mother sell it instead of keeping it for himself but sometimes he wished that he did.

The student heard the girl ask a question and he picked up a fresh piece of wood from the middle of the pile and wiggled it out, it was wedged in under the weight of the other pieces
'Huh?' he asked first, not quite focusing on the question being asked but instead getting this piece of wood out before realizing it was a question 'Oh yeah, Mum has no issue with me coming here' he said as he pulled the wood free and turned around the see the girl in the doorway, his face fell slightly when he realized what he had said, Leonidas loved his mother and sister greatly and was extremely proud of their accomplishments but it wasn't something he shared with people, he knew how much people adored Quidditch players and when ever someone found out they treated him differently, hoping the girl didn't hear him he chuckled nervously and walked forward placing the wood on the workbench 'This is a cut of..uh' he paused 'Oak wood, If you stain it right it has a really pretty pattern to it' he looked over at Astrid nervously waiting for what she would say next.

Astrid almost missed the boy's words, distracted by his fidgeting with some of the wood. It didn't feel right to be there, and she couldn't understand why he seemed to be right at home, until his words hit her. She watched him in shock, while he messed about and explained the oak wood he'd found. With a glance over her shoulder to make sure no one was looking, she stepped inside the shed and closed the door behind her. He might not have been worried about being caught, but she was. "I prefer hazel. It's what my wand is made from." She said slowly, taking deliberate steps toward the workbench. "Did your mum teach you how to stain it?" She asked, leaning forward with the quirk of her eyebrow. "You never did tell me your last name." That seemed like important information to know, if his mother was the headmistress and it hadn't been a simple slip of the tongue. Just who was this boy? If coming to an entirely new school, run by a famous Quidditch player wasn't overwhelming enough, this was icing on the cake.

'Hazel, We've got some Hazel wood around here somewhere' Leonidas repeated before pushing off the workbench he had just set the oak wood down on and turned back to the pile of wood and sorted through it checking the ends of each bit of wood not seeing the wood he wanted he moved to a different section of the workshop grabbing another piece of wood and brought it back to the bench, he heard the girl ask if his mum taught him how to stain it and he nervously paused before dropping wood and picking up the oak he had got out before 'Staining? You can do a dark stain or a light stain, there's even some custom pigments you can mix in to get a really cool reflect or shimmer to the wood' suddenly interested in explaining what stains were.
Placing the Oak back Leonidas turned back around and paused as if the words went right through him You never did tell me your last name he walked back to the table slowly trying to take as long as he could to come up with an answer which would satisfy her, for a brief moment he considered using his fathers name Stratis but didn't want to lie to Astrid. He put his palms down on the bench
'Frost' he said 'My name is Leonidas Frost'

Astrid exhaled slowly, her arms folding tightly across her chest, waiting for an explanation from the boy. He could go on about wood stains all he liked, she wasn't budging. She fixed him an impatient look until he relented, and admitted he was who she thought he was. She didn't know how to feel about it. Pleased? Annoyed? intimidated? Almost. He was the son of one of her icons. She'd known him for all of thirty minutes, yet somehow it still felt like he'd lied to her about something incredibly important. Omitting the truth was still lying, and his reluctance to admit it made her wonder how long he would have gone on not telling her who he really was. She uncrossed her arms, putting her own palms down against the opposite side of the bench. "So your mother is Kida Frost, as in, the headmistress? When were you going to mention that? Did you plan to?" She said with no small hint of accusation. And to think she'd thought he was cute. She could have completely humiliated herself on her first day.

He knew what was coming next after he said his name, Why didn't he mention it, Your mother is Kida Frost, Can I meet her, he sighed slightly but covered it well with a stretch before putting his hands back on the wood in front of him and rolling it on the table, checking the knots in the wood focusing too much attention on it. 'uh, Yeah' he admitted not sure what else he would say 'I didn't realise it was relevant to mention who my mother was, I didn't ask who your parents were' he said knowing as soon as he said those words he would probably regret it but decided to double down on his decision 'but since you need to know my family tree, my sister is Scarlet Frost, would you like me to get their autographs for you?' he looked up maintaining eye contact with the girl trying not to show how much living in the shadow of his mother caused him grief or how much people didn't think of him as Leo, but instead "Son of Kida Frost" 'My Father was also a Professional Quidditch Player, his name is Icarus Stratis, I guess I could try get his autograph for you as well, oh wait he's dead' he maintained eye contact for a bit longer to see what she would do, his silver eyes almost burning into her waiting for her to respond he didn't want to argue with a girl who he just met and was attracted to but he also didn't want to spend every moment of his life expecting to recite his history to someone just because his mother was famous.
Leonidas broke eye contact and pushed off the table and turned away walking towards a beam and leaned on it for a moment, he ran his fingers through his hair before grabbing a card with different coloured stains on it and returning to the workbench and tossed it on the table.
