Nathaniel smiled as he sat down of one of the benches in the hall of the police station, putting his bag on the ground next to it and glancing through the glass doors; it was raining like crazy outside. It had been rather busy and the young man was glad that he was done for the day, but his clothes seemed to finally be dry after doing his patrol and he didn't feel like getting them soaked again, so he decided to wait for the weather to clear up a bit. It didn't seem like it would stop raining for a while though, but hopefully it would get a bit less so he could walk home and if it wouldn't he might just wait on Matthew, who would be done in about two hours, and catch a ride home from him.

A cold stream of air entered the police station as the doors opened and three officers walked in, greeting Nate as they passed him and he tried not to laugh, whilst saying hello to them. He felt like he really shouldn't laugh, because although the chances of their grumpiness being caused by the rain were very big, they might've also just had a rough day, which could be very understandable seeing as that happened a lot. In Nate's experience all of the people who work at the station are incredibly nice and friendly and he felt like it was a shame that people were often very rude against them. Whenever he walked around in his uniform Nate felt like he was judged by a lot of people, having the idea that some of them were praising him for the job he did, whilst other disliked him a lot. Another stream of cold air woke Nathaniel up out of his thoughts and he turned his head towards the doors, watching them as they opened up again.

Rosa Antolini had been having quite a miserable day. Ever the optimist however, she chose to mostly ignore it. For Rosa, the day was not yet ruined. Rosa and her dance troupe of thirty had been called to Melbourne recently for a special fundraiser for children. Leukaemia in children was a big deal and Rosa's teachers had all jumped at the chance to be recognised internationally. A resident of Australia's neighbouring country, Rosa had been quite excited to travel in order to dance in another country full of sick little girls and boys that she would have a hand in making happy. What made the day miserable however, was the need to cancel the festivities. Australia was normally such a sunny country, but apparently, during their so called "rainy season" they basically had nothing but rain. She supposed it was the same for New Zealand as well, but seeing as she moved around a lot, she supposed the hadn't really noticed it as much as she likely would have. Rosa, however, was determined to salvage the day, even if that meant braving the rain to do it. Grabbing her coat and making sure she had her umbrella with her, Rosa made her way out into the downpour in search of the meeting place of her friends. They had been supposed to wait for her, but she guessed it got too wet for them, as they were now, nowhere to be seen. It was a shame really, because Rosa would have liked to head to the restaurant as a group. Unperturbed, Rosa headed down the street all on her own. The rain wasn't extremely bad yet, so she was certain she would be able to find her way. She knew where she was supposed to be, it was just a matter of getting there.

The rain picked up and Rosa looked at the slowly flooding footpath beneath her. Already her boots were soaked, she could almost feel the water, though she was lucky to know a few drying spells and would be able to use them as soon as she got in doors. Maybe coming out in the rain was not such a good idea after all. Breathing heavily, mostly caused by the exertion of trying to keep her umbrella in her hands, Rosa looked around her and tired to find somewhere she could possibly seek shelter. However, she was unable to see much through the rain or the way she was holding her umbrella. As she moved the umbrella slightly, to get a better look, a quick gust of wind blew the umbrella straight out of her hands and far away. "No!" It was too late however and Rosa knew it. Her wand in her pocket and now drenched from the water, Rosa was finally able to see somewhere she could take shelter. A Police Station. The Muggle form of Aurors, though they weren't nearly as so highly trained. Whilst there were millions of Police around the world, there was special training involved to become an Auror and so there were not to many of them. At least, that was what she had heard, not knowing any Aurors herself. She knew she would be safe there and so very carefully she made her way down the street, across the road and eventually up the steps to the sliding doors that would allow her entrance. With her coat pulled right up to her face, Rosa stepped through the doors and the immediate relief she felt from the rain was all too obvious on the young brunettes face. Walking over to the first person she saw, a young police officer, Rosa dropped her hands from her coat to her sides.

"Hi, i'm really sorry, i know you're not supposed to loiter in a Police Station," Rosa looked over her shoulder and out at the rain. Slowly she began undoing her coat as it had become quite the heavy burden. "Would it be alright if I stayed here for a bit? Just until the rain stops?" Rosa didn't know what she would do if the officer told her no. Maybe she would commit a crime or something, because there was no way she was going back out in that storm. She hated apparation and she couldn't just randomly pull her wand out right here, so a crime was her only choice really. She looked at the Police Officer and frowned slightly. "I don't want to commit a crime, but i won't go back out there, i won't!"

The weather outside just kept getting worse and Nate wasn't very pleased with that, he would probably still be stuck here for some time. Not that it really bothered him that he couldn't head home yet, but everyone in the station was still rather busy which meant he couldn't just go up to someone and have a bit of a chat. Perhaps the hall wasn't the best place to sit as well, not only officers but other people kept coming inside and every time the doors opened streams of cold air entered the building, some of them making the young man shiver. He could put on his jacket though, but if he did that he would get warm and when the time came that the weather finally cleared up a bit and he was able to head home the temperature outside would feel colder than it actually was and Nate didn't want to have that. The young man rested his head back against the wall and sighed. He didn't mind a little rain and actually loved the smell there was outside after it had rained, but this really was too much rain for one day. Once again the sliding doors opened and he sighed again as he felt the cold air touch his skin.

Nathaniel rose up from his seat as the young woman who had just entered the police station came walking towards him. She looked like she had been walking in the rain for hours, but seeing as it was still raining like crazy it could've easily been just a couple of minutes. The man smiled at her as she started to speak and couldn't help but snicker once she basically pointed out that if she had to go back out there she would commit a crime to get back in, even if she didn't want to do that. "Don't worry, it's totally fine to seek shelter from the rain here. So no need to commit a crime, okay?" Nate chuckled shortly before smiling at her. Why would he want to send her back out there? After all he was waiting for the rain to stop or the weather to clear up for a bit himself, so it wouldn't even be fair to do so. "Here, let me take your coat. I'll put it somewhere it can dry, if you want to?" The young man extended his arm as he shot her a smile. If she's give him her coat he would put it over one of the radiators so the heating could help it dry up. He had done it with his own coat earlier that day and it actually had dried rather fast plus it had been nice and warm, which was always a good thing.

To say that Rosa was relieved, would have been quite the understatement. She had worked herself up quite substantially to the point where she had thought she was likely to get throw in gaol for hyperventilating. Shaking her head and smiling slightly at the Officer, Rosa showed herself to be visibly calm. "Sorry. I guess i overreacted... a smidge." She indicated how much using her fingers. She had the tendency to over react just as often as she jumped to conclusions, which was really quite a lot. She wasn't sure why she tended to make crazy assumptions on barely any evidences, but she did. Even if it was annoying for others. She did tend to apologise at least, once she realised that she was in the wrong, which admittedly could take a while. Sometimes it took a couple of weeks, but it was something her friends grew to identify and understand rather quickly. However it didn't stop them from leaving once they'd had enough. To be fair, Rosa did carry a lot of the blame. She'd jumped to a few too many ridiculous conclusions that had destroyed relationships and the like. Really she needed to learn to keep her mouth shut, or at the least, learn herself a damn filter.

When the Officer offered to take her coat, Rosa nodded her head in thanks and continued undoing the buttons before carefully sliding her coat off and handing it to him. It was quite thick, but now it was drenched and so was quite heavy. Rosa quickly looked down at her playsuit to ensure that nothing was see-through and once she had discovered that she was good in that area, she moved on to her hair. Twisting it up into a bun to keep it out of the way, as it was also wet, though not as badly as her coat, miraculously. "Ugh, this is going to take forever to dry." She was just about to reach into her pocket to retrieve her wand when she remembered that it was in the pocket of her coat and she looked after it hesitantly. Once she realised that it didn't matter if her found it, as he wouldn't know what it was anyway, Rosa relaxed. To him, she would just be some bizarre brunette with a stick in her pocket. Surely he'd seen worse walking through here? Rosa smiled at the young man and gestured in the general area of her hair. "Dryer? Perhaps a bathroom?"

Nathaniel smiled at the brunette in front of him as she apologized to him and slightly shook his head. "It's okay, I've seen people do a whole lot worse." The young man had been working at the police station for over a year now and he had seen some people overreact way worse than the woman did. Thinking back on the past year there had been some situations that he managed to control pretty good, but there were other that hadn't worked out that well. One of those moments he remembered best was when a man got angry about something that wasn't even that big of a deal and punched him in the face, resulting in a black eye. He hadn't been too happy about that, but at moments like those he reminded himself of why he became a police officer in the first place and carried on.

The young woman handed Nate her coat and he took it from her, kind of hanging it over his arm for the moment being. "Sure, follow me." He smiled at her and started walking, leading her the way to the locker room for the ladies, which was linked to a bathroom. He wasn't sure if there would be a hairdryer there, but he figured there would be, and otherwise he was sure there would be clean towels, which could also do miracles. "Here you go." Nate stopped in front of the locker room and opened the door, after making sure there was no one inside by knocking on it. "Just walk straight ahead and there'll be a bathroom to your right. In the meanwhile I'll put your coat away and if you're looking for me I'll be straight across the hall, in the canteen." As he was talking his hands were motioning in which direction she had to go and when he was finished he smiled at her once again, waiting for her to go in so he could put away her coat, get his own stuff and take a seat in the warm canteen.

Rosa couldn't believe she was being so silly. Just because it was raining and she couldn't do what she wanted, it was no reason for her to act like a fool. Rosa smiled then, as the Officer mentioned that he had seen worse. Though she thought that he must have had quite the experience then, as her little show had not been all that pleasant either. However, he was a Police Officer and she thought that it rather made a lot of sense for him to have been used to someone acting out and over reacting as she had. It was basically in the guys job description to handle these types of situations, at least that was what she thought. She couldn't be sure as she didn't know any Police Officers personally. In fact, this was really the first one she had spoken too. Even though she had only been an average student, she had learned enough to be able to fit into the muggle world, though all her muggle education had come after leaving school as Durmstrang did not teach about muggles, nor did they allow muggle borns in the school, at least that was how it had been before, she was pretty sure she knew of at least one muggle born in the school since she had been there. Still, she was good with animals and plants, so she wasn't a complete lost cause. Not that she thought she was anyway, she was working and that was all that really mattered to her, despite what anyone said.

Rosa nodded him as he motioned for her to follow him. A tour of the Police Station was quite nice as he showed her to a bathroom, or some sort of equivalent for a Police Station or just randomly for muggles really. She was still amazed at the similarities between the muggle and the magical worlds, even though she had lived here for quite a time. Rosa looked around as she kept her hands in her hair, trying to hold it so that it didn't go everywhere. She happened to really like her hair and didn't at all enjoy it when it was all a mess. To be honest there were many reasons why she hated her hair being a mess, but the main one was that it got all frizzy and it was so hard to work with when it was frizzy. Eventually they made it to the place and he knocked on the door to make sure that there was no one in there. Rosa smiled at him and followed his instructions to get to the bathroom. Once she got there she immediately got to work on her hair. She would have used her wand, only she wasn't sure how that would go down with all the electronics in this place. Rosa supposed this was what she got for deciding to go out in the rain. Still, it wasn't all bad. That Police Officer guy was gorgeous. Spending a couple of hours with him may not be so bad.

Smiling to herself as she finished up with her hair, something that had taken her a little over ten minutes. She definitely would be preferring her magical abilities over her ability to be a muggle. She wasn't very good at it as it turned out. Remembering that he had said he would be in the canteen, Rosa went on her way to find him, getting lost a couple of times as she did so. She wasn't completely terrible with directions, but sometimes she got confused, as sometimes they were rather complex. When she found him, Rosa immediately smiled and leaned against the wall. She didn't know what to do now. She was finished with her hair, but because of the rain she would be stuck here for a while. What did one do in a Police Station? "I don't think I ever told you my name." She said. Now that her hair was in a bun, and no longer wet, she didn't have to worry about it. She felt much more comfortable. She had also fixed her make up, she hated being seen without it. Make up was her life. "I'm Rosa Antolini. Thanks for the help."

As soon as the young woman had made her way into the locker room Nathaniel started walking towards the canteen, which was quite a bit of a walk. The police station was rather big and even after being employed there for almost a year now Nate still found rooms or halls he hadn't been to before and where he maybe wasn't supposed to be as well. After turning left and right a few times Nate finally found himself in the canteen and hung the woman's coat over one of the heaters, wondering if he should have given her directions to the canteen, seeing the fact that she didn't know the building as well as he did. The canteen was almost empty at this time of the day, aside from Nathaniel getting himself a cup of coffee and two trainees talking about their day there was not a lot going on in the room.

The sudden sound of a womans voice caused Nate to look up and see the young woman standing close to the door opening, leaning against one of the walls. "You didn't." Nate smiled as he nodded to one of the chairs next to him at the table, motioning for her to take a seat. "Pleasure to meet you, Rosa." The young man said as he took a a sip of his coffee. "My name's Nathaniel Rowe and helping is pretty much what my job is about, so you're more than welcome." Waiting for Rosa to sit down he continued drinking his coffee and turned his head a bit, looking at the two trainees, who seemed to be having quite some fun, and shot them a keep-it-down look before turning his head back towards Rosa. "Would you like something to drink? Coffee, tea, hot chocolate?"

So so sorry this is so late and so bad

Rosa smiled at the Police Officer. He was kind. She'd heard some pretty nasty things about the kind of people muggles employed to work in these places. She knew that some Auror's went crazy from the proximity to dark magic and dark wizards, but what excuse did these muggle law practitioners have? Still, Rosa was glad that this man at least did not seem to be like those she had heard the stories about. She wasn't even afraid of him, despite not having the ability to use her magic right now. Still, she felt safe her, a fact she was sure her brother would disagree with, but that was okay, he was fine on his own. She hadn't thought she'd told him her name. She didn't remember doing it so the confirmation made sense. She followed his gesture and took a seat across from him. He seemed really nice and he was cute too, which was always a bonus. His clothes were neat. Something she'd noticed when she'd first walked in. Some men didn't take pride in their appearance. She didn't like people like that. She just wanted those kind of people to leave her alone, but they rarely did so. As a dancer she'd worn her fair share of skimpy outfits, so she knew the kinds of looks people gave her. Not all of them were nice ones. Rosa smiled at the man as he gave his name. It was a nice name. Nathaniel. She didn't know any Nathaniel's. She rather thought that she liked the name for him. It suited. He simply looked like a Nathaniel.

"'tis a pleasure to meet you as well." She extended her hand to shake. A formal knowledge of names after all was occasion for a hand shake, right? They did that in the muggle world didn't they. Well, she certainly hoped so and if not, well, she guessed she had invented something new. But no, she was being ridiculous. She was sure she'd used it with others before and that she'd used it on her muggle friends. Not that she had many of those, but it was thanks to those muggle friends that she even knew how to spot a Police Station. She let her eyes wander to where Nathaniel was looking, and laughed lightly at them. He was telling them off, though she wasn't completely certain as to why. Then when he addressed her again, Rosa nodded at him. "Yes, actually. A hot chocolate would be nice. Help with the chill." She told him, folding her cooling hands in her lap. "How long have you been a Police Officer?" She was curious. She liked meeting new people and she simply had to know.

Agreed, I'm so sorry!

<COLOR color="#000"><FONT font="verdana">Nate nodded as he turned around to get her a hot chocolate and put it down in front of her on the table once it was done, sitting down again afterwards. "About two and a half years now, if I'm not mistaking." The young man smiled at her question. He wasn't completely sure how long it had been, but he remembered he started training at the age of eighteen and he had recently turned twenty-one so it must be somewhere around two years. He remembered the moment Matthew mentioned that he could work at the police station if he wanted like it was yesterday, he had never been happier. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy working at the book shop, but he had always felt rather useless whilst being there. Nate had a habit of helping people and what better way to help than to join the police?

The young man took another sip of his coffee and looked at the woman in front of him. "So what about you?" He smiled at her, growing rather curious about what her story was. "What do you do to make a living? Or perhaps you don't have a job? I mean there's nothing wrong with that." He awkwardly smiled at her, he knew he had never been the best person to have a conversation with or will ever be, but at least he tried. He had never had a good talk with someone himself before he came to Australia about three and a half years ago. Might have been because he never had someone to talk with, but those were his dark days and he was glad to say that those were pretty much over now.
