Nikko was relieved when Gyffindor got position of the quaffle, giving him at least some time before anyone tried to get one past him. He watched Sully and tried to keep an eye on the ball despite being on the opposite end of the pitch.
Juniper hadn't been able to sleep over the excitement for her first Quidditch game. She made her way to the pitch and felt somewhat energized by Lars' speech. When the whistle blew she took to the air, making her way after a bludger. Her goal was to try and take out their seeker. As she caught up with one, her bat made contact. Unfortunately, it didn't hit the Gryffindor seeker but instead her fellow classmate Emma instead. Oh well, a hit was a hit.
Juniper was glad that she had hit somebody, even if she felt a little bad. She kept an eye on the bludgers that may be after her teammate. Maybe she'd get a hit at the other Gryffindor beater as well to make up for losing to him at the duelling tournament last year.
Sully could tell Lars was keeping a close watch on him, but he feinted at the last second, cheering as the quaffle managed to make it through the left-hand hoop. He circled back, grinning at Noel and Chloë while they waited for the quaffle to be back in play.
Determined to even the score, Lysander accelerated toward a bludger and raised his bat, lining up a shot. He struck the ball, watching with a pleased smile as it flew into @Minnie Calida. Yes! Hopefully that'd help give Sierra more time to find the snitch for Gryffindor.
Juniper was chasing after a bludger when she saw another hit Minnie. She winced, frustrated that she and Chloe had missed it, allowing their seeker to be hit. She flew after the bludger, hoping to catch up and hit the Gryffindor seeker as payback.
Sawyer was unsurprised when he was relegated to the bench, taking his seat happily to watch as the game began. With Lars being their captain and the starting seeker, Sawyer was pretty content unless something crazy happened, he was staying put for the foreseeable future. He gave Lily a quick smile, wondering if she might get to play today, before turning his attention to the game above them. Unlike him, Minnie was a much bigger target, so Lily actually stood a chance of having to play in a pinch. It had to be a lot fo pressure. Speaking of pressure though, Sawyer winced when Minnie took a bludger not long after Gryffindor managed to score. He hoped they could swing the momentum in their favour now that Ravenclaw had the quaffle.
Chloe listened to Lars’ speech, and nodded at his words. It wasn’t long before the rest of the players arrived, and then the referee blew the whistle to signal the start of the game. The prefect mounted her broom and was on the air in seconds. She began to hunt for bludgers, but was seeing none.
Feeling on a high, Lysander continued on, chasing the bludger that had struck Emma. He tried to line up another shot on Minnie, but it went wide and made contact with @Juniper Zumwalt instead. He couldn't complain. It made up for the hit Emma had taken, and he shot his friend a thumbs up, as if he'd meant to do that.
Juniper felt a sudden pain in her side while she flying and lost control of her broom, starting to spin. She came to a stop seeing the bludger go off in a different direction once it left her vicinity. Groaning, she looked up and saw Lysander nearby seemingly happy that he hit her. She frowned and shot after the bludger, hoping to take a swing back at beater.
Sully grinned when Lysander landed another bludger hit, pleased that their beaters were on the war path. He tried to focus on the quaffle though, hoping all his and Chloë practice with stealing hadn't been wasted now they were in a real game.
Nikko had a hard time keeping track of the quaffle with all of the bludger hits and everything else. His teammates seemed to be doing well and holding their own. He just hoped he'd be able to do a good job too.
Waiting tensely, Sully grinned when he spotted an opening, shooting forward to grab the quaffle before any of the Ravenclaw chasers got a chance. He gave Chloë and Noel a knowing look, sure they remembered the back and forth quaffle stealing they'd had in practice.
Juniper heard a cheer from the crowd and saw Gryffindor had managed to steal back the quaffle. She groaned, still feeling the pain in her side, as she continued chasing bludgers, hoping to get another hit in soon, preferabley at her intended target this time.
As soon as the game was started Chloë had shot up into the sky, sticking close to Sully as he made off with the quaffle. She winced when Emma got hit with a bludger but cheered a couple of seconds after when Sully managed to score. She shot him a thumbs up, eagerly waiting for the quaffle to be thrown out again. Once it was she was glad Sully managed to steal it, shooting forward to move after him whilst also keeping an eye on the other chasers.
