Quidditch Game: Gryffindor vs Slytherin

It was the first game of the season, and Reeve could feel the excitement. He was excited anyway as he stepped on to the school grounds, quickly grabbed some toast and jam from the Great Hall, and ate it on his way to the pitch. He always felt much more at home on the pitch, he'd spent most of his life on pitches and was happy to have continued to be in them after his career was cut short.

The weather was amazing today, sunny but not overly bright and an easy breeze that would keep things would keep things pleasant. The grass was a little slick but they'd be up in the air, and Reeve didn't think it would impact too many people. He made quick work of grabbing some school brooms in case anyone on either team needed one, and opened the game trunk though he left the bludgers and snitch in their confinements. Reeve finished most of his tasks even before the stands began to fill up in earnest.

[Solomon Tofilau]

Sully was feeling good today, and the weather seemed to reflect that. He grinned at the team as he walked out onto the pitch, enjoying the sound of the energy in the stands as he swung his broom over his shoulder. This had to be Gryffindor's year this year, and if they took out Slytherin in the first match, there would be no stopping them.

 

[Flynn North]

Flynn felt like he was about to be sick, anxiously shifting on the as he held onto his broom a little tighter. Hopefully this match would go better than his disastrous performance in the practice, but he doubted it. Instead, he just tried not think about it or the opponent he was going up against.

 

[Nikko Blackwood]

Nikko gripped the handle of his broom tightly as he waited for the game to begin. He shouldn't be so nervous, he had done this before and they had won. But being up against Slytherin seemed to make all of that irrelevant. He looked into the stands hoping to see some familiar faces but seeing all the people made him break out in a cold sweat. Instead he took a seat on the bench to wait for the game to begin.

 

[Lysander Summers]

It was perfect weather for a Quidditch match, and initially, Lysander had taken that to be a good omen for his team in the game ahead. Until he realised it was also a good omen for Slytherin, in which case, the good omens cancelled each other out and weren't actually all that good for anybody. Divination and destiny were all so confusing in that way. He supposed if it were possible to just prophesize the outcome of any match, there'd be no point in playing them. He sighed inwardly. He didn't wholly want to play this match himself - not against Slytherin. Blake was a tough seeker to beat, and Flynn was...way, way less experienced by comparison. They still had a chance, but he'd be lying if he said he liked the odds.

Lysander headed across the pitch to gather up his crew, casting glances at the Slytherin team as if he could magically pluck out any weaknesses at the last minute, before lowering his voice and huddling everyone closer. "Everyone ready? We good? Today's going to be a tough start to the season, but we can do it. There's no better team than Gryffindor, right? We just have to get through today, win, and then it's smooth sailing from then on out. North, just focus on the snitch, don't let anything else distract you. Emma and I will take care of your competition and we'll try to make sure you stay completely bludger free. Chasers, you guys are always on fire, you've got that quaffle. I want to see Blackwood yawning from the lack of activity on his side of the pitch. Blackwood - don't actually yawn. Everyone's gotta be focused. Let's make this our year!" He broke away with a thumbs up, and headed on over to Reeve to hand in his line-up sheet, offering him a smile that felt more like he was trying to reassure himself.​

[Chloe Thompson]

Chloë felt ready for today's game, even if she had to admit going up to slytherin right away made her a bit nervous. Especially since they were the one to beat. She obviously wasn't going to show any of that though and confidently made her way up to the pitch with her teammates, enjoying how good the weather was at the moment. She listened to Lysander talk, nodding along as he spoke and hoping luck would finally turn their way somehow.

 

[Jasper Night]

It was a little weird to think that this would be the final year Jasper would be playing Quidditch like this. Even if he didn't make it as an Auror as he hoped, he knew he likely would never qualify for a professional team. So after this year, he was pretty much done with Quidditch. Weird as it was. The boy waited impatiently for Blake to give his usual dramatic speech. He wanted to get to the air.

 

[Emma van Houten]

Emma stood close to Lysander and gave him an encouraging smile as he started his speech. They HAD to win from Slytherin, they just had to. Emma nodded when Lysander mentioned her, giving Flynn another encouraging smile. She knew he had to be nervous about playing today, especially with Blake on the Slytherin team and his reputation. But he wasn't unbeatable, they could win this. Emma started cheering and clapping after the speech, punching her fist into the air. "GO GO GRYFFINDOR!"

 

[Mordred Cavanaugh]

Mordred looked forward to ending his school Quidditch career on a high note. Slytherin had to win. "Slytherin will win," he said to himself. Despite all his hard work, Mo was anxious and he didn't know how to fix it. His foot tapped impatiently at the Slytherin benches.

 

[Noel Waldgrave]

Noel made his way to the pitch and was excited. The weather was good today the sun gave him energy and although Slytherin was mostly hard to beat he knew they had an good team. He smiled while standing with the team and nodded as Lysander spoke. Flynn had a lot of pressure on his shoulders but if they had faith it could happen. He cheered along with go go Gryffindor and waited for the game to begin.

 

[Blake Irons]

It was hard not to be anxious about today. Stepping onto the pitch, Blake could feel the weight of his entire future on his shoulders. Graduation was terrifyingly close, and this year was his last chance to impress a good team and find a decent professional position for the future. Slytherin's chance at the cup depended entirely on his ability to win today's match, and on a more personal level, his own self-worth did too. Blake knew logically that coming out hadn't changed his athletic ability at all, hadn't affected his skills or dedication to the game, but it still felt different now. He wasn't the man his father had wanted him to be, and today felt like a chance to prove the man he wanted to be was just as capable.

After handing in the lineup to the referee, Blake called his team over for a huddle. "Alright, everyone listen up closely. Beaters, I want you guys entirely focused on their Seeker. The sooner you can take him out, the better. If we can force them into relying on an alternate it'll work in our favour. Chasers, teamwork when you've got possession, no mercy when you don't. Liusaidh, you're queen of steals, don't hold anything back. All of you, if you think you need to pass, pass. Don't hold onto the Quaffle if it looks like they're gonna get a chance to steal. Mordred, you've got this." He looked around the faces of his teammates before giving a confident nod, stepping back slightly and putting his hand in the middle, gesturing for them to join him. "Slytherin on three... One, two, three, SLYTHERIN!" He cried out, adrenaline pumping. There was no option today but to win.

[Indira Khatri]

Indi was excited for her first game and when she saw her name on the line up she beamed. She had felt good a practice and was glad the captain had taken notice. She chanted Slytherin with the rest of the team and eagerly waited for the game to start, her mind racing. She wondered how Liusaidh was going to take her temporary promotion since she got the sense the other girl didn't like her much. But she didn't mind, it wasn't like Indi had to impress her.

 

[Ronald Lazarao]

Ronald was so excited about what will happen for this match, but Ronald knows that his teammates work hard at the practice and he wanted that this 1st match will be in their favor, Ronald cheer at Gryffindor Quidditch Team together with Lumio and Bern with others Gryffindor House "Laban at kaya nyo iyan Team Gryffindor" Ronald said in her dialect in his country it means "Fight and you can do it Team Gryffindor", whatever happens, Ronald ready if he could call to substitution but he knew Nikko was good Keeper like him, All of us waiting to start the game.

 

[Eleanor Kingsley]

Eleanor wasn’t too pleased that she had been benched for today’s match against Gryffindor, but she was determined to cheer her teammates on despite her personal disappointment. The third year sat down on the bench in her Slytherin quidditch robes and waited for the rest of the team to join them.

 

[Lucie Vernier]

Lucie was excited for the first ever quidditch game with her being on the team. She was only an alternate, but it meant a front row seat watching it, and she was more than ready to cheer Slytherin on as she made her way to the bench and took her seat before the game began.

 

[Skylar Anderson]

Skylar couldn't wait for the Quidditch match against Slytherin. She knew it would be tough, but she had faith in Gryffindor and knew they'd play their best no matter what. Although she wouldn't admit it, she was secretly quite glad that she wasn't playing and was just an alternate for this match, because after the practice they'd had earlier in the semester, she had lost a lot of her confidence. How could she have missed 5 attempts at scoring in a row?! She tried not to think about that though, just in case she was needed as an alternate. Instead she took a seat on the bench and waited excitedly for the game to begin.

 

[Reeve Buchanan]

Reeve turned his attention to the parchments he'd been given. He spent a moment looking at each before confirming that they were in order and giving the captains a nod. Reeve cast the sonorous charm on himself before he addressed the captains. "Gryffindors, you will be Keeping the North hoops. Slytherin, you will be Keeping the south. Please get back to your teams, mount your brooms, and prepare to fly!" Reeve couldn't wait to see how this first game of the season would go.

With that Reeve opened the game chest and released the snitch and bludgers. The snitch flew up into the air and disappeared quickly, to his eyes anyway. The bludgers were another story, they lingered and Reeve had to use his bat to send them into the air before they hurt someone before the game officially could begin. Reeve reached for the quaffle and then headed for his broom. When he was high enough, he tossed the quaffle into the air. "Game on!" he declared, bringing with those words the start of the quidditch season.

Lysander wasted no time taking to the sky, accelerating after one of the bludgers Reeve had batted away and keeping his awareness focused on Slytherins seeker.

 

[Solomon Tofilau]

Sully grinned, joining in the team cheer before mounting his broom. He wasted no time grabbing the quaffle, not wanting to give Slytherin a chance.

 

[Nikko Blackwood]

Nikko’s heart raced as the whistle blew and the game began. He kicked off and took his place at the hoops and was relived to see that Sully grabbed the quaffle first.

 

[Blake Irons]

Blake kicked off hard at the whistle and shot into the air, looking for any signs of the snitch he could follow.

 

[Indira Khatri]

Indi scowled when the Gryffindor chaser grabbled the quaffle first. But she wasn't discouraged yet and kept close, looking for a chance to steal.

 

[Lysander Summers]

Lysander caught up to a bludger and struck at it with a back-handed swing, watching with a frown as it spun harmlessly past Blake.

 

[Solomon Tofilau]

Slytherin was right on his tail, so Sully shot forward, trying to get to their keeper before they had a chance to defend. He let out a whoop as the quaffle sailed through, raising his arms in triumph.

 

[Nikko Blackwood]

Nikko cheered as Sully made the first goal with ease. But now it was time for him to get ready for whatever Slytherin was about to send his way.
