Full Name:
Orwell Kitchen Brocken
He responds to either Orwell, Kitchen or Brock

Date of Birth:
24th December 2024, born in New Zealand at roughly 4pm

Current Age:
13

Basic Appearance:
Orwell is of pretty average height for his age. He stands at just about 5ft 4, he's a growing boy, and is slim, though not overly lanky. He's strong and does a lot of exercise, he's very active, so Orwell is in pretty excellent shape, and will likely remain in good shape. He's got soft green eyes, and a round face, he has thin, but plush red lips, and an average size nose. His hair, is naturally a brown colour, but he doesn't really enjoy sticking to one colour, so goes through many different colours of hair. Using the magic in the community he is able to do that. His hair is pretty messy, he doesn't really take that much care of it. There is no point, no one in the community really cares. He has a few birth marks, and is looking to get a tattoo at some point, in his community you can not get a tattoo, mostly just that they don't have the equipment necessary, but he desires one, currently they use something similar to henna to give temporary tattoos. Orwell is pale, and doesn't tan overly well. He has incredibly fair skin but very few freckles. He doesn't dress smartly, all of his clothes are second hand, and have been worn by others in the community. He doesn't actually personally own any clothes. Shoes are one of the few things that Orwell actually owns, but they are old, and don't fit him that well. He doesn't give a very smart appearance, but doesn't really mind about it. He likes his clothes, he likes not having to worry about anything. He likes helping to fix clothes by hand.

Personality:
Orwell Kitchen Brocken, is fairly different from most people. He was raised in a community where the collective was always put first, where he lives in complete harmony with nature and the environment. Orwell doesn't think of himself often, he doesn't put himself first. He's a very kind and good natured person. He's always thinking about others, and is keen to help anyone who requires his help. He has a reckless streak in him, which is mostly just about him trying new things, going on longer walks, eating some things without it really being approved. He's been raised in a pretty sheltered way, despite the openness of the community he lives in. He hasn't had much interaction with muggles, or people outside the community. He knows a lot of ideologies and reads a lot about different societies but hasn't really ever experienced it. He's a very loving person, and loves everything essentially, he doesn't like hurting people, animals or even plants really. He's incredibly non-violent, and cannot deal with conflict when it seems to involve violence. He's a keen reader, and an idealist, his head is largely in the clouds. He loves his community and can not see why more people don't live like he does. He's also very loyal to his community, and would be incredibly loyal to a partner. A lot of his community practice free love, and are not tied down to one person, he likes this in theory, but would enjoy the comfort of one sole person rather than several. He gets quite lonely, he's surrounded by people, but he feels lonely, like he's missing something. He has a excitable side to him, which loves learning new things, experiencing new things and being happy about life. He gets excited about things quite easily. He's a smart kid, but questions things a lot. He reads a lot, and likes to question things he doesn't always fully understand. Or when he has trouble with it. In his community everything is shared, so he doesn't actually own anything personally, and he desires personal property, which in his community isn't good. His parents and the community are pretty liberal, and he has very few boundaries, this makes him pretty independent, he can take care of himself. There are very few rules which he has to follow, which means he has a lot of freedom, but despite having a lot of freedom, remains well behaved and respectful to those around him.

Family:
Father - Carsten Brocken, born and raised in Munich, Germany. Is a muggleborn wizard, who attended Beauxbatons. His parents are huge environmentalists, who worked with the German forestry commission, and have supported the greens their entire lives. He was raised with a love of the earth, and this grew as he also grew up and further with magic. He identifies as anarchist, and bases a lot of his world views on the writings on ecoAnarchists. He loves being able to preform magic because it means he's more likely going to be able to help the planet. He can help grow things, and care for animals. Carsten is close to his parents, but they are wary of him, and his magic. They don't see each other often, especially since Carsten now lives very remotely and doesn't visit them often.
Mother - Julia "Kitchen" Brocken, was born in New Zealand, but moved to Germany when she was ten years old, after her parents split up and she was forced by her mother to move. Julia has never gotten along with her mother, but was still quite upset when her mother died. She is also a muggleborn witch, who attended Beauxbatons. Herself and Carsten were close friends and ended up together in a lose sense. They are not married. She grew up in a conservative house hold, her father Richard "****" Kitchen is a former politician who was conservative, she doesn't hold any of the values that her father holds. He was never pro-environment, but has since warmed to it. He understand the importance of it. Julia and father are very close, despite ideological differences and she visits him often. He can not visit her home, however because of the magic, but she tells him about it all the time.
His parents are not married, they are not really technically together either, they are good friends, very good friends, and are most often together, but they practice free love and neither believes that one person has to be tied to another. They do not believe in marriage. For this reason, Orwell while born to them, is not really raised by them in the traditional sense of parents.

Pets:
In the community which Orwell lives, no one has an animal which they own, all the animals in the community are owned collectively, and are not seen as pets, they are allowed to roam free and are not restricted in the same way that house pets are. Orwell has a preferred owl, which he really loves. It's not his at all, but the owl likes Orwell most out of all the people within his community. More than anything, Orwell wants a pet dog, not one he has to share, but one that belongs to him, where he can pick the name, and it can sleep in his room.

Area of Residence:
For Orwell this is a little difficult to describe, he lives in a small community of about 50 or so people on the south island of New Zealand. All the people in the community are wizards and witches, who identify with the anarchist/bioregionist way of life, and have opted to live in the forest together, living off the natural resources around them. Never taking more than what they need. They are hippies, and would be described as hippies. The town closest to them is Te Anau, on the south island of New Zealand, they are close to Irene Mountain and are near Doubtful Sound, but Orwell couldn't give an exact location. He doesn't get to leave the area often, and it is protected by magic from wondering muggles. Magic is not often used, but it's to save any bother. They are completely secluded from the outside world. Orwell can count on one hand how many times he's left the camp.

Blood Status:
With both parents being magic, but them being muggleborn, Orwell is mixed blood. Blood status is not a huge deal within the camp, it just can't allow muggles. Since the camp is protected from wondering ones. Most people in the camp found about it through other witches and wizards and arrive alone. The only muggle that Orwell has ever meet is his grandfather.

Heritage:
Brock is half German, half Kiwi
However, he had never been to Germany, he's seen old pictures of it, but has never been.

Special Abilities:
Orwell Kitchen has no special abilities. None that he knows of.

Interests or Hobbies:
Orwell, has many hobbies, he likes reading, though there are a limited amount of books on the camp that he can read. A lot of the stuff he reads is pretty political, he's read more anarchist and books on eco anarchism than he's read on magic. He enjoys them, and utter believes in what they are saying. He also enjoys caring for things, animals, people, plants. He shares a love of nature, he loves going for walks, climbing up trees and enjoying nature. He likes going swimming, and he likes playing with animals. He can't understand that there are people who kill animals. He feels bad when he accidentally steps on an insect.

Additional Skills:
Orwell can speak German, because his parents both spent time in Germany, they taught him German. He can speak it well, but his reading and writing are very poor. He's never applied himself to it. Brock has a particularly knack for herbology, he's very good at it. He enjoys nothing more than helping something grow, or sitting in a field with flowers and watching the flowers sway in the wind.

Strengths:
His strengths include his caring nature, he's very loyal to pretty much everything, loyal to people, animals and the things he reads and believes. In a relationship Orwell would be incredibly loyal, to him being with more than one person is absurd. Kitchen is a loving person, with so much love to give to people. He is a quick reader, and has a wide understanding. He's a very strong swimmer, and a very gentle nature. He's not ashamed to get excited about things, or ask questions. While he wholeheartedly believes in his way of life, he isn't afraid to ask questions, and often can receive a harshness back from the other children and sometimes adults in the community. While being caring and loving, Brock has much thicker skin than most would expect. Although this could be tested when in the wider world

Weaknesses:
He has a incredibly caring nature that people may chose to take advantage of. Brock despite his easy intelligence has a tendency to fade out during classes and not pay attention which hinders his learning. He's very nervous with new people, and is very wary of them at first. He can at times be called too excitable. He isn't very good at writing, he's never really been required to do that often. So, he's got really terrible hand writing. One of the weaknesses that is specific to his community, is that Brock desires things that belong to him. He wants a pet of his own, and really wants clothes that are new rather than second hand. He's often called selfish in his community, which to them is a weakness, and a weakness that Brock sees in himself.

Describe your character in three words:
Gentle, Anarchist, Curious

Favourite place to be:
He's never really known anything outside his community of people, so he'd always say them. Being with them in their little camp, or village. His favourite spot is by the near by river. It's a little away from where most people go, and is the most tranquil place Brock has ever experienced. He likes swimming there and going there to read. He enjoys the sounds of nature, around him and it calms him.

Friends:
Orwell has friends within his community. Technically everyone is a family, they share clothes, food, the work load. Orwell, has helped his parents build a what they call houses when a storm caused one of the new houses to fall. As well as help build the one they currently live in. Everything in the community belongs to everyone, he pulls his weight as does everyone else. Despite being a child, he's not seen as lower, or inferior. He doesn't have many boundaries. Because of this openness and collectiveness of the society which he lives in, everyone is his friend, and they are all his friend, but really, he has no one he'd say was a good friend.

Hogwarts House:
Brock was accepted into Hogwarts, all the magical children are, but he like all the rest of them, turned down the offer, and chose to be educated at the makeshift school which they have. It means that Brock doesn't actually know what any of the houses are, but he would either be Hufflepuff or Gryffindor. He's a brave kid, who doesn't often think things through before he does them, but is also incredibly loyal and hard working in a sense.

Hogwarts Hopes and Ambitions:
Since he doesn't go to school, he doesn't have any Hogwarts hopes or Ambitions, he isn't even sure what he'll do when he gets to the age of 17 and can technically leave. He likes the camp, but isn't sure if that's what he wants to do with his life. He wants to see places in the world. Brock like his parents and his community believe completely in the life they lead. That humans can live in harmony with nature, but he wants to see how other people do things, how other societies are set up. The future for Orwell, is a strange thing. He doesn't know what to expect.

Best school subjects:
They have limited learning in the community. He's only in school four days out of seven, and only for about five hours each day and all the children are taught together. He doesn't get any homework. His best subject is herbology. He has a natural talent with it. He's good with identifying plants, and knowing how to look after them, both magical and muggle. Despite not being the oldest in his class he's the best at it out of all the students. In his community a natural ability with nature is heavily sought, so he does make some people pretty jealous of him in class.

Worst school subjects:
They do have limited learning, and his magical learning is very limited, he doesn't do any potions, since they don't have a lot of the ingredients, he does read about potions, but will never make any. Only a select few in the community make potions. They don't do any defensive or offensive magic, because they live in peace with nature and other people. They believe in and practice non-violence, he has also never done any sports, and they have little charms or transfiguration, they learn mostly theory in class, practical is done in their own time. As well, as magic, they learn muggle things like maths, english, history, politics and geography. Brock is terrible at maths, he just can't really do it. He is awful at it. The numbers just swim in front of him. So, that would be his worst subject.

Extracurricular Activities:
He doesn't really have extracurriculars, he does learn german on the side, but that's something he does with others. He doesn't play many sports, though they sometimes play football. He spends his time outside of class helping prepare food, and helping mend clothes and other things. He'll read a lot, and spend a lot of time talking and arguing with others of the merits of their way of life against other ways of life. He ends up doing a lot of debating, where one person always has to play devil's advocate to stimulate discussion, since they all in the community hold the same view. A lot of the time, spent outside of classes, he spends learning how to do things without magic. He doesn't have extracurricular activities as people who attend real schools do.

Graduation:
Technically Orwell doesn't have to go to the school that they run, most chose to go, since there isn't too much else to do. But officially he should be done with his education when he turns 17 and he can then go outside the community and do magic, but by the time he would reach 15 or 16 there wouldn't be much else to teach him, so he could just stop attending the classes. He won't get any qualifications, since they don't do those. As much as he really would like to be able to get at least some OWLs.

Current Job:
Within his community, Orwell, is an apprentice herbologist. Which means he shadows the people in his community who work mostly with plants, teaching him about their properties and what to do with them. There are 7 herbologists in the community whose sole sort of role is that. He works with them some of the time, though because he's only 13 he isn't officially working with them.

Plans for your future:
Brock has no real plans for the future. He had no idea what he wants to do with his life. He isn't sure what the future can hold for a kid like him. He figures he'll likely just remain in the community that he's in, never really advancing onwards and just staying with them. Kitchen doesn't really mind that. He likes where he is. He is curious about the outside world, and he wants to see places, but he wouldn't honestly mind if he then didn't.

Your Patronus:
A kiwi bird, Brock has always loved them. He's found them not only to be completely adorable, but he just finds them fascinating. He likes walking around doing impressions of them, and loves that they only exist in New Zealand. They are pretty small, and he likes looking after them. It's just a little love of his.

Your Patronus memory:
Orwell has many happy memories, but he would say that his happiest would be the day that he helped his parents build their home. Orwell was pretty young at the time, only about 6 or 7, and they'd been living with several other people, and the house had gotten pretty crowded. Orwell had been looked after by several different people, he for a long time didn't see his parents as just being two people. But, his biological parents decided that since one of the people living in this home was pregnant that it was time for the three of them, to build their own little place in the community, since it was no longer going to just be a pitstop, it was their home. It took over a week, but Orwell, finally felt complete in that week. He had never spent that much time with just his parents, but together, the three of them, they built something. He remembers helping his dad, and watching his mother use magic in certain areas. He remembers feeling like a family, like a real family, like in the children's novels that were largely untouched. Orwell felt like they could be a real family, the three of them as a unit rather than just three people in a wider community. It didn't last, but Orwell holds on to this memory and the possibility that his family could actually be a family in a traditional sense. He loves the community, and he loves all the people in it, but he doesn't understand why they can't co-exist in this community and also be a three person family. Where his parents care for him first, rather than just allowing various adults to do it at different times. it's a happy memory for him. The one that fills his heart with complete joy.

Your Boggart:
It would losing all of it. Losing his home, and his way of life. He doesn't deny that a change would be nice, but having it ripped from him. Having his culture and society torn away in the blink of an eye without him being the one to decide to leave would hurt him so much. His life and livelihood depends so much on the community, on the people around him, that to have it torn from him, and to lose his family and the wider community would just make him feel so lost. So, he would see losing all that he currently has.

Your Animagus:
It would be the same as his patronus, a little kiwi bird.

Mirror of Erised:
In the mirror, Orwell would see his family. He has his family with him by his side, and they are a real family. It's difficult for him to describe as he has his family, his parents play a role in his life, but to him, they are occasionally parents, and most of the time they are just other people in the community who exist. They are no more his parents than any of the other people in the community. So, he'd see his parents and the structure of a family in the traditional sense.

A page from your diary:
Dear Diary,

Today was pretty neat. I got a letter from that magical school. But, of course I'm not going. I have all that I need here. Why would I want to go to some school? I'd have to obey rules, and wouldn't be able to learn all the things that I do currently. It might've been pretty neat to meet new people and leave the camp for a little bit, but, why would I really want to do that. I like it here. Everything I need is here.
I spent the morning in classes, but then the sun came out, and I decided that I didn't feel like afternoon classes, so I decided to go swimming instead. It's not a huge deal, you know that. I can catch up tomorrow, or later. The teacher doesn't mind if we do that. Everyone who goes to the classes wants to learn, I mean I want to learn but what could he teach me today that can't wait until tomorrow.
Anyway, that's enough from me, I'm going for a swim.
