Vivan was trying desperately not to feel bad about his decision to attend the dance alone. Sitting around stewing in the jealousy that just wouldn't leave whenever he thought about Tristan's newest girlfriend wouldn't do any good, it would be better to get out and enjoy the evening. He could talk to Tristan after the dance, tell the other boy how much his rose had meant. Right now Vivian was going to ignore Tristan, and have fun. Maybe he would run into Vincent again, or find Hudson and ask the younger boy to dance. Or meet someone new altogether, only time would tell. Tonight, Vivian wasn't going to think about Tristan at all. He didn't care about Tristan's girlfriend at all. He was just here to have fun. Tristan wouldn't even cross his mind. He looked around as he made his way over to the snacks, pleased with how independent he felt, just doing something for himself, without even thinking about Tristan at all. Tonight was all for Vivian, and he couldn't wait to see what it held.

Hudson tried his best with his outfit that night. He wasn't fashion lover like Fleur and he ever thought his younger brother was better at picking outfits than himself. Sighing he figured he looked the best he would as his hair was always all over the place and the tie wouldn't tie around his neck in a nice looking way. He opted for just black jeans, black shoes, and a red plaid shirt fitting for the Valentine's Theme. He'd been thinking about asking a date, but he wasn't brave enough to ask the only guy he'd want to go to the dance with and he wasn't sure about asking Alexis or another girl from his class. He felt bad, knowing they could think it was really date and he wasn't that interested in them. Going alone was his best option, so he made his way down to the Great Hall looking at all the decorations around the room. He hadn't sent any roses, nor receive any roses that year which was fine for him. He'd figured that Vivian probably wasn't into him and he hadn't ever really showed outwardly, he thought, that he was interested in the older boy. On the plus side it meant Hudson would probably get by not having to dance, despite years of lessons at home thanks to his parents and now Aunt and Uncle, he wasn't the biggest fan of dancing. He did know how to spin a lady around the dance floor in a few different styles but he didn't enjoy it. He wondered if he'd enjoy dancing more if it was with...Vivian. There the older boy was, Hudson spotted him and quickly looked away not wanting to be caught staring at him. He brushed his hair back wishing he had tied it back in stead of leaving it down.

Looking around the room, Vivian spotted a few familiar faces, but everyone he knew seemed preoccupied with friends or dates, and he didn't feel comfortable approaching any of them. Until his eyes landed on Hudson standing alone, and his mood changed at once. Surely there would be no harm in asking the younger boy to dance. Maybe Tristan would see and be jealous, and it would certainly be a better way to spend the evening than lurking uncomfortably by himself. Drawing on all his meager confidence, Vivian made his way over to Hudson, giving what he hoped wasn't as nervous a smile as he felt. "Hi Hudson." Vivian said softly, confidence not enough to boost his gentle voice. "Would you like to dance?"

Hudson was keeping an eye on Vivian for a few minutes from the corner of his eye. Never did he want to appear stalkerish but he couldn't help himself. Something about the older boy always had intrigued him. The older boy began to move in his direction and Hudson fought the urge to call out to him, but Vivian could be heading to anyone and to his surprised his name was called. He wasn't even too sure if Vivian really ever remembered him, maybe his memory for names was good. "Hi," he said in reply. Shock from Vivian's question was clearly on his face. While he knew he liked Vivian no one else did. What did dancing with a guy mean? Looking around he couldn't see many couples dancing that weren't boy/girl. "I, uh," Hudson stuttered out for a moment before meeting Vivian's eyes. "Yeah, that'd be cool," Hudson said with not much confidence.

Vivian knew that asking Hudson to dance was a bit of a risk... he had enjoyed his conversations with the younger boy, but didn't know how Hudson would feel about such a direct question. To his relief he accepted, though Vivian could clearly hear nerves in the boy's voice. Vivian was nervous too, and immediately found himself second guessing the invitation. It had seemed like the kind of thing Tristan would do, but had it been too forward? There was no time to question though, Vivian had already asked, and now there was nothing to do but follow through. Giving a nervous smile, Vivian started leading Hudson towards the dancefloor, deciding that being honest couldn't make things any worse, and looked at Hudson again. "I've never actually danced at one of these before..." He confessed, nerves creeping into his soft voice a little. "It... seems fun though, right?"
