Nikola did not have much of an appreciation for water. He may have been surrounded by water at home, but he didn't enjoy swimming, fishing or snorkelling. The only thing that was potentially of interest here, was the fact that there were apparently magical creatures in the lake. Both of his parents had worked at the school, and between various family members, the stories were confirmed, though their activity seemed rather low, or perhaps his cousins and older siblings just weren't patient enough to wait for them. His cousins were certainly too loud for anything of interest to go near them, surely. He couldn't imagine Felicita staying around any location for longer than five seconds, unless she had someone to annoy for the entire duration.
The lakefront looked nice, though, but he was more interested in the small specks in the distance, which he presumed was Brightstone Village across the water. There were no landmarks he recognised, however, so it didn't capture his attention for long. There were students wandering across the grounds behind him, exploring the rosebush, laying out in the sunshine across the lawns and sitting under the trees, but Nikola was far enough away that he couldn't quite hear their chattering. Instead, he could hear the wind blowing through the trees and across the water. Finally caving, he decided to pick up a rock and skip it across the surface, though it only managed one tap before dropping beneath the surface.

Sandy was lurking in the water when as per any other day a student was sitting near the lake. She decided to swim closer and check on the boy. He seemed to be staring at something across the lake. Sandy popped her head out of the water and greeted the boy with a sharp shriek. She friend to put on her best smile and waved for the boy to come closer. She motioned him to put his head in the water so that they could communicate.
Sandy stared at the boy trying to figure out what she he was.
