Lesson Missed: 1

There was something almost comforting about seeing Professor Styx again. Perhaps it was because all of Arvel's other professors were changing. And he had to admit, the man was a good teacher. The Hufflepuff sat down in his usual seat next to Analei, not feeling entirely prepared for the term ahead. He could have done with another two or three weeks off. Alas, he was a prefect now, and he had to set a good example to the other students. Imagine that! Arvel! An example! The only example he'd set over the last few years was how not to behave. He opened up his book and wrote the words 'Babbling Curse' at the top of the page. He had heard of it, but he didn't know how to conjure it. Suddenly he wondered if he should. He jotted down some notes, wishing he could skip ahead to the part where they learned non-verbal magic. That sounded infinitely more exciting than lectures. When the class ended he put away his book and slunk out.

Lesson Missed: 2

Arvel sat down next to Analei, flashing her a quick smile that didn't reach his eyes. He'd been feeling increasingly bored of late, which was ridiculous, considering he was at a school of witchcraft and wizardry, but true. He put it down to Quidditch. The first Quidditch match wasn't until December, and he hadn't been practising very much on account of having too many essays to write. Fifth year wasn't all it was cracked up to be. He flipped to a fresh page in his book and titled it 'Body-Bind Curse', though the lesson was more about the difference between a curse and a jinx. Arvel had always struggled with that, so he paid careful attention to the answers and wrote an explanation down in his own words. He also made a note of the Latin translation, just in case it came up in his exams. It would if he didn't write it down.

Lesson Missed: 3

Arvel still felt much too young to be making important decisions about his future. Decisions like which subjects to study, and whether or not he should train to become an animagus. He was already swamped with classes, but Analei had basically begged him to do it with her, and the thought of turning into an animal at will was appealing. Maybe he was just afraid the professor would refuse to teach them. He sighed and got out his quill. This was a Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson, after all; he ought to pay attention. Professor Styx didn't seem like the sort of man to repeat himself. Arvel took notes on the Gemino curse, though he was still confused about how it differed from Geminio, or how it could be fatal. He'd have to ask Analei later - she was clever. When the class ended he packed up and left.

Lesson Three:
The third week of the semester had come quickly for Gwen, whom hadn't even felt comfortable yet with all of her new professors. It was quite a lot of names to remember and quite a lot of getting used to, and yet the class was going through a lot of content which was moving very fast for her. Luckily, the Gryffindor wasn't as stressed as some of classmates though and so just went with the flow, knowing she would be able to catch up in time if she just kept at her usual study pattern and stayed consistent. The teen made sure to pack everything she needed for that day before heading out to her first class.

As Gwen entered the Defence Against The Dark Arts classroom she sat with her classmates as she waited for the lesson to begin. The professor started quickly, telling the class that they would be learning about the Gemino Curse. She sat with her writing equipment in front of her, trying her best to listen to everything he had to say. Gwen was admittedly disappointed that they weren't able to perform the spell themselves like they did almost every lesson in charms but knew that if she argued with the professor about it that it would not turn out well. As the professor finished the lesson and left them with homework Gwen sighed heavily as she packed everything away and headed out.

Lesson Four:
Gwen had been having a great year at Hogwarts so far, which was most likely different for the other fifth years who were stressing about the exams at the end of the year. The Gryffindor didn't care enough about them to be so stressed, but she felt the tense vibe throughout the classroom when in classes which definitely put her on edge. The teen just didn't think it was important enough to care about yet. After all, she knew that grades eventually meant nothing when one left school and so was not at all worried. Nonetheless, she still attended her classes and was happy to be making her way to her classes for that week, hoping the professors had fun activities in store for them.

The Gryffindor followed her classmates to her Defence Against The Dark Arts class where she knew the professor was going to lecture them again. Gwen did not particularly like lectures and always attended these classes reluctantly, knowing that they were important and she had to do them if she wanted to at least pass. The teen tried her best to write down everything the professor was saying about the two new curses he was introducing to them. Admittedly, they sounded amusing to the Gryffindor and she hoped that one day she would be able to finally witness it rather than simply have to sit and hear about it. Luckily, when the lesson ended, the professor left them with no homework and Gwen was happy for this as she exited the room and headed straight to her next class.

Lesson Five:
Gwen was not looking forward to her next Defence Against The Dark Arts class. She had enough of having to sit in lectures and it was really starting to bore her. Despite this, she rather liked the class and everything they had to learn about when she was focused enough and was actually motivated to do the work. After all, many of the spells that were mentioned were quite interesting and she hoped that this lesson might be a little bit interesting to her. She entered the classroom and took her usual seat in the room, immediately taking out her writing equipment as it was no surprise that the professor would be lecturing them again. Fortunately, the professor told them that it would be short and this made Gwen slightly relieved. She listened as the professor spoke about the Flagrante Curse, finding it a very harsh punishment for simply touching something. She made sure to write notes on this, figuring she would need to know about it if she wanted to pass, and happily left the classroom at the end of the lesson.

Lesson Three:
With Halloween celebrations just around the corner, Sophie kept on her toes, trying not to let this distract her from classes, as well as her other responsibilities such as her position on the Ravenclaw Quidditch Team and her commitment to the Student Defence Association. She of course wanted to participate in it, especially since last year she didn’t get the opportunity to, but classes were much more important at this point. The Ravenclaw made sure she had everything in her backpack that she needed before finally heading out of her dormitory and to her first class for the week.

Sophie entered the Defence Against The Dark Arts classroom, looking forward to whatever they would be learning about. She listened as the professor began speaking about werewolves in detail and Sophie tried her best to write some notes on it. She didn't particularly like lectures however and soon found herself instead drawing a picture of a werewolf next to her notes, not really focused enough to keep on listening. When the lesson ended the Ravenclaw was relieved and exited the classroom to head straight to her next class.

Lesson Four:
Sophie had been enjoying her year at Hogwarts so far. The Halloween celebrations were very fun, and even though the girl had not won anything, she rather enjoyed her Cinderella costume. It was different to all of the other costumes as not many people in the wizarding world knew who Cinderella was and so she felt like it was a good choice to make. However, people not understanding who Cinderella was may also have been a factor into her not winning. Figuring she had other years to prove herself, Sophie packed everything she needed into her backpack before leaving her dormitory to head to her classes for that day.

As Sophie entered the Defence Against The Dark Arts classroom she took her usual seat in the room, taking her writing equipment out as she knew she would need to use it. Last lesson they had learnt about werewolves and so it was no surprise that this time they would be focusing on vampires. The Ravenclaw tried her best to take as many notes as possible, knowing it would be useful to her for the end of semester exam. When the lesson finally ended she took down the homework as instructed before heading out.

Lesson Five:
Sophie's fourth week back at school had gone quite slow and the Ravenclaw didn't think she learnt much from it. She was hoping her fifth week would be even better however. Sophie made her way into the Defence Against The Dark Arts classroom, eyeing the tank that sat at the front of the room as she took her seat. It contained a rather ugly creature and it reminded her of the mandrakes that she had to deal with in Herbology just the year before, just less life-like. It looked menacing as it stared at everyone outside of the glass and the Ravenclaw couldn't help but feel intimidated. She looked up at the professor as he began talking, saying that it was called a Grindylow. The girl made sure to write some notes on it, happy that they were actually allowed to see the creature in person this time. When the lesson ended the girl wrote down her homework and packed away her belongings, happy to leave the creature behind.

Lesson Three

Defence against the dark arts was a class Gwen always found very interesting but often struggled in when it came to the practical side of it, she knew she would need to work on that in preparation for her OWLs. She made her way into the classroom and was quite happy to hear they would be discussing the Gemino Curse, it was such a dangerous curse that she knew there wouldn't be a practical element in the classroom. Gwen took out her parchment and writing equipment and took notes as Professor Styx lectured them on the curse. It truly was a curse that had the potential to be brutal, she couldn't imagine how painful being crushed to death would be, it had to be up there as one of the worst ways to go. When the lesson finally came to an end Gwen packed away her notes and made her way out of the classroom.

Lesson Four

Gwen had been enjoying the recent defence against the dark arts lessons, they had been learning about some interesting, if not terrifying, curses and jinxes and she hoped their latest lesson would be no different. She took her seat and Professor Styx informed them they would going over two curses but first they were to cast their minds back to the jelly legs jinx that they learned about during second year. Gwen knew it was a popular prank jinx used by younger students and she had managed to avoid being hit by it. Gwen took out her parchment and quill and began to take notes on the Jelly fingers curse and the sponge knees curse. Both sounded pretty self explanatory and both like they were experience she would rather avoid, so was glad they were just talking about them. She noted the answer given by one of her fellow classmates that they would be classes as curses over jinxes because they could be used to put the victim in danger from another curse or can prevent someone from using their wand, it was a good point. When the lesson was over Gwen packed away her notes and once they were dismissed she made her way out of the classroom.

Lesson Five

Gwen very much expected the latest defence against the dark arts lesson to be the last lesson with new content before they had their review of the semester. She made her way into the classroom and took her seat curious to see what Professor Styx had in store for them. It turned out they would be going over the Flagrante Curse, it was a curse used to make an object burn whoever tried to touch it. It was a curious curse, not the most dangerous of what they had covered but definitely a useful anti theft curse, a sentiment Professor Styx backed up as he told them it was sometimes used on valuable items at Gringotts. The lesson came to an end and the professor requested an essay on the curse for their homework which Gwen made a note of. Once they were dismissed she packed up her things and left the classroom.

Willow made her way to the defence against the dar arts classroom. She was in a great mood even professor Styx's usually serly demeaner was not going to big her down today. She had dinner the revious day with chante who could hardly sit still with the news she had to share. her aunt was pregnant and she would have a new cousin early next year. It seemed lie the felix felicis they had been given in potions had spread from not just her but to her whole family. she new that taing a potion was not going to effect her aunt, but maybe the combination of events had lead to her finding out was due to the potion, either way she was excited.
she took her seat and took out a quill and parchment. there was little chance that this would be a practical class. she was right and the professor started to tal about two curses that were similar to a jinx that they hd learned about years ago a jinx that she had used a few times and been hit with during duels. she pocketed that information maybe in the duelling tournament next semester she would have a few new tricks up her sleeve. she wrote down what the professor was saying before they were dismissed. she packed up her things and headed to the owlery. she needed to send her parents an owl

Willow had had potions the previous day her mind was on that class as she walked into the defence against the dark arts class. she wasn't thinking about how she had spilt potion across her desk. but about the professor. how had she been so oblivious not to have seen it before half of her mind was shouting at her the other half was being a little more practical how do you know you aren't just seeing things and jumping to conclusions. it may have just been a coincidence.
either way, she had to focus on the class at hand. after deciding she wanted to be an Auror she knew that she had to do well in this class. she hadn't looked up the specific requirements but a newt in DADA seemed like a no-brainer.
she took out her parchment and quill and waited for the professor to start the class. todays curse was an interesting one one similar to a charm they had learned a while back but this was a curse that was used in gringots. despite his description she was not 100% sure how this classed s a curse but she knew not to question. it wasn't really that important anyway, the classifications of spells all seemed to be a bit grey with many grey lines between them. instead, she wrote down notes until the class ended once she was done she picked up her things and made her way to the lounge where she was going to meet up with Noelle.

Lesson Three

Harper entered Defense Against the Dark Arts, ready for his third lesson. His sister hadn’t arrived yet, so he found a seat in the middle. Just before Professor Styx began to speak, Elizabeth slipped into the back row. He smiled, she was probably off on some adventure. The lecture began about the Unforgivable Curses. Harper had heard about these, of course, because they were forbidden.

Happy the class was over early, Harper was disappointed that they had an essay. He decided he would work on it later. That usually never worked well. Collecting his belongings, he left the classroom to find somebody to play wizard chess with.

Lesson 2
Ollie wasn't all too fond of his Defence Against the Dark Arts class, although he knew it was something they had to be thought. He didn't like hurting people and he didn't like hearing about people actually wanting to hurt others. Having fun doing that. Nevertheless the youngster knew it was good to have some knowledge about the side of the wizarding world that wasn't as fun. Just as with non magical people, there were always some with twisted minds. This lesson in particularly wasn't fun to listen to for the Muggleborn. Ollie tried his best to take notes on the lesson because he knew he would need them later, but at the same time he was feeling uncomfortable listening to it all.

Defence Against the Dark Arts Lesson #2

Use of the Dark Arts can get someone arrested and taken to prison, because that's were bad people go. Bad witches and wizads go to a special, magical prison which is even worse than a Muggle prison. The Dark Arts can also take a toll on your soul and your appearance, because it seems to drain its users from everything good that might have still been inside.

Lesson 3
After last weeks class Ollie was slightly hesitant to enter the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, as he really didn't like the class. The professor started to talk about unforgiveable curses, and the boy wanted nothing more than to slide down of his chair and disappear, leaving the classroom behind him. At the same time, he didn't want to fail the class. So he reluctantly sat through another nauseating lecture, almost jumping of his seat when class was dismissed because he wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible.

Lesson 4

Harper entered the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom for his fourth lesson of the year. The professor hadn’t lied when he said there would be a lot of theory. He found a spot near his twin sister, Elizabeth, and waited for instruction. As Professor Styx began to speak, he was happy to learn they would busing spells. Harper was familiar with both stupefy and protego, he did enjoy reading about spells. As soon as the professor mention partners, he glanced as his sister whose look was already boring a hole into him.

Pulling out his wand, Harper followed his sister to an open area in the room to practice the spell. Elizabeth was the first to cast the stunning spell. “Protego!” He was quick to react. Smirking at his sister, he cast the stunning spell in response. “Stupefy!” The spell barreled toward his twin but was deflected by her casted shield. After the twins went back and forth, Harper took a deep breath and jabbed the spell at her once more. “Stupefy!” He watched as she tried to deflect his spell. Trying to hide his smirk, he waited for the professor to revive her. As soon as Elizabeth was back up, spells started whizzing towards him. “Protego!” Harper cast, holding the wand out in front of him in defense. Class ended and Harper didn’t get a chance to say anything to his sister before she stomped out. He decided to pack his things up and go hang out in the dungeons.

Lesson 5

Elizabeth had been giving him the silent treatment since last Defense Against the Dark Arts class and Harper hoped she would be over it now. When he found his usual spot, he watched as she entered the room and sat as far away from him as possible. Before he got a chance to switch closer, the professor announced there was a quiz. He sighed. I'll have to talk to her later. Harper felt like his sister was being ridiculous, but their birthday was coming up and he didn't like when they fought. He completed the quiz the best he could and submitted it to the professor. Harper rushed off to find his twin.

Lesson One

Christian knew that Professor Styx was not a man to be messed with so he was always on his best behaviour in defence against the dark arts class. The Gryffindor made his way into the classroom and took his seat while the man began his lecture. After a curt comment about how the students didn't need a reminder about the professors rules before he went on to tell them about what they would be learning about over the coming semester, they would be learning about various different magical beats. Christian took notes on the beats they would be looking at. When the lesson was over Christian put away his notes and left the classroom.

Lesson Three

Christian was enjoying their education on magical beats and creatures so far, he made his way into the classroom eager to see what Professor Styx had in store for them, he soon learned they would be studying werewolves which perked Christians interest even further. He reached into his bag and took out a sheet of parchment and took notes as Professor Styx talked about werewolves, how to spot them, their weaknesses and defining characteristics, it was a fascinating lecture. When the lesson was over Christian made a note of the homework they were assigned and made his way out of the classroom.

Lesson Four

After werewolves in the previous lesson Christian was curious to see what Professor Styx would be moving onto and he wasn't disappointed. Not long after the Gryffindor was in his seat the professor announced they would be covering Vampires that lesson. Christian took out his parchment and quill and took notes on the creatures as the professor went into detail about them. He was surprised they were covered in the class as it wasn't a creature that came up in the outside world, he'd always assumed they were rare creatures, if they still existed at all. Christian took notes until the lesson was over and they were dismissed, after which he packed away his notes and made his way out of the classroom.

One
Upon entering the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom for the first time, Lysander came to the conclusion that he was not a stan for Professor Styx. He did not come across as nice as a lot of the other professors in the school did, and he'd heard enough stories about the man from his dad to know that he wasn't the friendliest of professors. Immediately, the Summers boy was relieved that he hadn't been placed in Slytherin like one of his fathers had. He was yet to meet his own Head of House, as the woman had been on absence, but he was sure she was going to be a lot more welcoming than Styx ever would be.

Trying to ignore the professors aura of unhappiness, Lysander took his seat, and shot Alec a grin when she plopped down beside him. He didn't have Ellie or Spencer for company for this class, so he was glad that he had one friend who could combat the gloominess of the subject. The boy listened as the professor spoke, sounding no more nicer than he looked, and quietly jotted along the list of rules as he relayed them. So far it wasn't too difficult, but it was becoming increasingly harder to resist the urge to talk to Alec during the lesson. Keeping quiet for the whole hour was not exactly his forte. Thankfully, the lesson was coming to its close in what seemed like no time at all, and Sander jotted down his question for the class before he left.

Homework said:
Can you tame a Dark Creature?
Two
Once again, Lysander was back in the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom. He did look forward to the lessons and had high hopes that the subject would be one he was good at, as long as the professor didn't put too much on a damper on learning about it. "I bet Styx has never heard of Lumos." Summers whispered to Alec as they took their seats, gesturing around to the overall dark environment. The lesson began and already he was intrigued, curious to learn more about what happened to people who practiced the dark arts. When an image of an older boy appeared on the blackboard, Sander frowned at it, visibly confused. He was in no way familiar with whoever that person was, and couldn't fathom how some random student was relevant to the lesson. It wasn't until the image changed that he gasped. The person - if you could call him that - reflected on the blackboard looked nothing at all like the previous boy. There was no way he could have ever guessed the two were the same. When Alec questioned him, he nodded his head slightly. "Um, yeah, I've heard about him from my chocolate frog cards. He's real bad. Like, worse than Hitler." Sander murmured back, opting for the first muggle reference that popped into his head. The lesson concluded before long, and Lysander packed up his notes and followed Alec out, eager to talk about all the dark wizards they could defeat when they were older.

Three
The lack of light in Styx's classroom was beginning to take an effect on Lysander, who could swear that he felt tired and ready to sleep from the moment he walked in, despite how much sleep he'd gotten over the previous night. Stifling a yawn, the boy sat down and unpacked his things. The previous lesson had given him a lot to think about, and he'd spent a lot of time thinking about the appearances of all the people he'd met or passed by on the street. He knew there were all sorts of dark wizards running around every day, but he hadn't noticed anyone with red eyes or snake noses so far. He'd once seen a guy with purple tendrils on his face, but he was pretty sure he'd eaten or drank something wrong, rather than just being someone who used a lot of dark magic.

Trying his best to keep his head up, Lysander listened to the professor as he asked about the three most famous dark curses. Sander was surprised by how many hands were raised. Even he didn't know a lot about them, not by name at least. His dads didn't spend a lot of time telling him about unforgivable curses while he was growing up, shockingly. He knew there was one that could kill someone instantly, which is why Harry Potter was called The Boy Who Lived on his chocolate frog card, but he didn't know too much about the other two. The boy listened as a girl in his house gave the answer, and took some notes for future reference as the lesson progressed. He was further surprised to hear that Aurors were allowed to use these particular spells. Would that mean aurors could have their faces change into snakes too? That sounded crazy to him. Jotting down the essay at the end of the class, Lysander packed his things and left with even more to think about. Despite not learning any spells yet, DADA was a pretty interesting subject.

Four
By now, Lysander had practically forgotten the professors rule about keeping quiet and spent the start of the lesson chatting with Alec about one thing or another. When Styx eventually began, the boy was almost surprised to hear that they'd be doing some actual spellwork. At this point he had nearly forgotten that the subject actually taught spells, much like in his Charms class, and as cool as some of the theory was to learn about, the practical is what he was really there for. "You're going down, Alec." He whispered to his friend once they were given the spells to practice with. He packed away his writing equipment and found a corner of the classroom to practice in, giving his wand a few experimental flicks before they began. "Hang on, I need to make sure this works properly, don't start yet." He told her. He mumbled the shield charm to himself a few times before giving it an actual go, and breathed a sigh of relief when a barrier shimmered into existence. "Okay sweet, I'm ready!" He continued, semi-confident that he wouldn't end up unconscious and on the floor by the end of the lesson. He spent the remainder of the class taking turns to attack and defend, and in what felt like almost no time at all, the lesson came to an end. Disappointed that he didn't get more time to practice, but equally glad that he finally knew some cooler spells, Lysander left with everyone else.

Five
Lysander was used to getting his writing equipment out when it came to Defence Against the Dark Arts classes, so when he entered the classroom he did not expect to see a sheet of parchment already laying on the desks. He nudged Alec and pointed them out when they took their seats, reading over what was written down with a curious glance. A quiz! That was so boring. After learning how to shield and stun the previous lesson, he had hoped they would be able to learn even more spells instead of doing theory work all the time. With a sigh, he listened to Styx and then got to work on filling in the answers to the questions. Luckily they were all pretty easy, but he still lifted his arm to let Alec see some of his answers as he wrote them down, in case she needed to cheat off of him.

Lesson 5

Third year so far had provided some very interesting lessons in defence against the dark arts and Christian didn't think they could be topped as he headed into his latest lesson. Unfortunately he was correct, for their penultimate lesson of the semester they would observing a Grindylow. Though he had to admit it was pretty cool they were able to observe a greater in person even if it was something they could all pretty much handle already. Christian watched the creature and took notes on some of the things he observed about the creature. When he was done and the lesson was over he packed away his notes and left the classroom.

Felicita wasn't quite sure whether she was looking forward to Defence Against the Dark Arts. It seemed like a nice subject even though Professor Styx wasn't exactly the most pleasant professor around. She hadn't had him as a professor yet since this would be her first class with him, but seeing him around last semester and hearing about him from Soro and Chia gave her enough of an idea. Still, the class seemed straightforward enough, and it seemed to be a really nice class that it seemed to be one that she'd relatively like. Or at least more than Charms. The topics seemed to be fairly interesting when she looked through the contents of the book. And well, Professor Styx might not be pleasant, but he was an okay teacher. Feli really could do with a little less grumpiness though. Nevertheless, the Ravenclaw thought that overall, the lesson went quite well as she filed out with the rest of the class after she completed the really short homework provided.

Alice was looking forward to Valentine's Day a lot this year. Getting to help organize the roses was a huge honor, and Alice was proud that Kauri and Tomas wanted to work with her for the event. She was also looking forward to the day itself, as it was always so wonderful to see all the love and friendship spread around the castle. Privately, she hoped Blake would approach her too. She was starting to think he really liked her, and she liked him too. He was handsome, sweet, and a great Quidditch player. Alice knew it was lucky that he seemed to like her. The Hufflepuff took her seat in the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom and listened as the professor told them they would be learning about the Imperius Curse in this lesson. Alice was nervous about it, as she remembered the form they were able to take during the last lesson. Alice had decided not to do it, and now she was scared to see who had been picked for this lesson. The girl who came forward was a Slytherin named Luna, and Alice watched in horror as the professor put the curse on her and made her jump on the desk. Then she had to do push ups, and Alice felt her stomach turn. There was something horrifying about watching her do everything the professor said without even a thought. Alice had to turn her eyes away, and was glad when the spell was over. Luna told them how she had felt under the spell, and Alice really felt for her. She didn't know her that well, but she felt really bad for the girl. She wrote down the homework for the next lesson, then packed up her things and left when they were dismissed. She still felt a little queasy.

Connor was looking forward to his second semester at Hogwarts even less than he had looked forward to his first. New classes meant new teachers and new rules, and probably the horror of new introductions where he was expected to stand up in front of his classmates. Connor didn't think he could take a whole nother round of those introductions. He didn't have any choice though, as he definitely didn't want to fail his classes either. He couldn't imagine how mad Eric and Mum would be if he failed. So he made his way into the classroom, taking a seat and looking around nervously.

Defense Against the Dark Arts was by a long shot the subject Connor was the most terrified of. The horror-inducing professor aside, Connor didn't like the sound of the subject either. Dark arts weren't something Connor wanted to really think about, and the thought that they were out there, existing was terrifying. He kept his head low in his seat as Professor Styx spoke, listening intently in hopes of not angering the professor, and made sure to take careful notes of everything Professor Styx said. When he began calling on people for questions Connor lowered his head even more, not wanting to be noticed at all. He was beyond relieved that the only self-introductions they were asked to do were writing a question down. Connor could handle that. He didn't want to have to talk out loud to such a scary teacher, or his classmates, but he could definitely write something down.

Aisa wasn't thinking much about the upcoming Valentine's Day celebration. The only thing that had to do with her was that she had to take pictures at the dance and somehow try to make the pink and red decorations not clash with everyone's dresses. But truthfully, Aisa enjoyed her work on the yearbook and was glad she could be a part of it. It was definitely making her time at Hogwarts more interesting. The girl took her seat in the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom and sat down in the back of the room. Professor Styx started off the lesson with a question, and Aisa listened as one of the other students answered it. Then the professor answered the question himself, basically letting them know they were too young and too weak to really survive against Dark Magic. Aisa listened as he went on with the lecture, telling them he would teach them how to recognize jinxes and curses and how to reverse them. Then the lecture went on about the Knee-reversal jinx. It sounded quite brutal for a 'prank' jinx, maybe wizards had different ideas of what a prank was. the professor told them how the jinx could be used in a more cruel way, and Aisa decided she didn't like it. She noted down the assignment, then left the classroom once they were dismissed.

Alice had loved Valentine's Day, and she was grateful for how well the rose deliveries had gone. It had been scary to run it together with older students, but everyone had worked together to make it all go smoothly. And the dance had been wonderful too. Alice had only gone with a date once before, and that had been very different. Blake had been a great date, unlike Phineas who had hardly paid her any mind. Alice thought Blake really liked her, and that was a nice feeling. But she couldn't only focus on Valentine's Day, she had her lessons to worry about too. Alice headed into the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom and took her seat near the front. Professor Styx seemed to be gone, and a substitute professor was teaching them instead. The professor launched right into the lecture, telling them they would be learning about the Cruciatus Curse today. Alice was nervous about this, as she vividly remembered the lesson on the Imperio curse. The professor told them about the spell, then showed them a jar with a spider. Alice paled when she enlarged it, and scooted her chair back when the professor used the Cruciatus Curse on the spider. It was a horrifying sight, and Alice had to turn her gaze away. She managed to take a few notes on the lecture that came after, but she wondered if the demonstration had really been necessary. The sight of the spider writhing in agony on the table wasn't something she would forget anytime soon, even if she kind of wished she could forget it. Feeling a little sick, Alice was glad when the lesson was over. She noted down the homework, then left quickly when the class was dismissed.
