Elio had been worried when he recieved Ava’s note asking him to meet right now. The Ravenclaw had a lot going on, he knew that, so it was likely something important or she was pranking him again. He headed down from the common room, leaving his camera in his dorm and taking the steps two at a time to get down to the lounge as fast as he could. Maybe next year they could learn to apparate and save the time travelling like this. Once he reached the room, he pushed open the door and peered around eagerly for the blonde. He didn’t spot her immediately, so moved forward further into the room as he peered down the isles of shelves and tables trying to locate her.

Ava nearly fell down the stairs more than once as she rushed down them. Three days ago, going through her trunk, Ava found an old portrait that she had made of Elio, one she had meant to give him before he had left, one she had promised to make him. Looking at it had both panicked her and made her cringe, so for the last 36 hours, she had locked herself in the dorms, eating only what Elsie had brought her. If she slept Ava didnt remember going to bed. She had poured her heart and soul into the new one, crashing for about an hour as her finished product dried before sending an urgent note to Zephyr. She wrapped both paintings in a glittery blue paper before gathering her things and rushing down to the student lounge.

"Zephyr!!" She called as she spotted him.

There was a reason Elio couldn’t find her, he’d had the head start. He heard his name called out behind him, and turned to see Ava standing behind him instead of already placed in the room somewhere this time. In all honesty she looked a little dishevelled, “Hey,” he smiled, back tracking the way he’d come in a few long steps until he was able to pick her up in a tight bear hug, “Are you alright? Your note sounded like something had happened?” He asked after placing her feet back on the floor.

Ava hugged Elio back, though barely, her lack of sleep was catching up to her. "It did!" She held up both packages, ignoring the paint almost covering her hands. "The first one was supposed to go to you before you left," she managed, yawning. As soon as the packages were in his hands, the world faded and she slumped against his chest, snoring lightly.

Elio's eyes looked across to see the packages in her hands, and took them in curiosity, "What are.." Elio was still looking at the blue wrapping and trying to work out what they were when he felt her fall against his chest. His free arm wrapped around her so she didn't fall over, and Elio did his best to guide her over to the nearest empty couch. He set the packages down on the table, before turning back to his friend who he could hear was asleep. It was pretty cute actually. He lay her down on the couch, sticking a pillow underneath her head and shrugged off his jumper that she could use as a blanket for the time being, before taking up position on the other end of the couch, legs up lengthways but careful not to disrupt the Ravenclaw. Reaching over again for the packages, he took the first one and unwrapped it carefully, revealing the one that Ava said was for him before he'd left. He assumed she meant third year but he couldn't be sure until he looked at it now. He swallowed out of gratitude for the painting in his hands, eyes glossing over every aspect of it. It was amazing that she'd done this for him, and reminded Elio of a time when things had been a lot simpler for both of them. It was a painting of the day they'd met. They were up on the seventh floor corridor, talking about their hobbies and Ava had been the one to introduce cameras to him properly in the first place after snapping a shot that she'd clearly later painted for him. At the time she said she would, but he never realise she'd done it. She'd drawn Elio back in his first year, posing in front of the stair rail, and he chuckled as he recalled how terrified he'd actually been to be stood there, but hadn't wanted to say anything and show himself up to his first friend. He lay the painting down carefully and unwrapped the second one. It was clear that this was the same scene, but what shocked Elio was the level of detail and thought that had gone into it. Painting what not his strong point by any means and he would have been lucky to get a stick man looking good, but he could appreciate art in terms of colour and layout, composition and emphasis. It was clear that this was a more recent painting, and perhaps the reason Ava seemed to have paint everywhere including in her hair right now, but the sixths years work had come in leaps and bounds since the first one, and even that was miles better than anything Elio could have ever hoped to produce. He lay the second painting down and trying not to move too much, slipped back off the couch, kneeling in front of the blonde and cupping her cheek and hair, a soft but firm kiss planted on her forehead. Ava was so.. pure. Pure and kind and the most considerate person he'd ever known.

Ava woke up after what felt like no time at all, groaning and rubbing her eyes as she yawned. It took her a minute to figure out where she was. She looked over to see Zephyr asleep next to her, and she couldn't help but smile. She rolled, reaching out and booping his nose. "Pssssst, Zephyrrrrrr," She whispered, booping his nose again. "Wake up, sleepy head," She poked his cheek.
