Things annoyed Rowan. Lot's of things annoyed Rowan and most of it was in association with herself, but what probably annoyed Rowan the most, was that these other things annoyed her so much. They were small things that annoyed her, Elsie not saying good morning to her at breakfast, Elsie saying good morning to her at breakfast, Zennon sitting with Sam, Zennon not sitting with Sam, Professor Ward setting an essay instead of a lecture, Professor Castillo giving a lecture instead of setting an essay and it was all so contradictory that she ended up more confused about everything else in her life as well. She didn't know why these things annoyed her, and that was probably the worst part, because they caused her so much grief and yet she couldn't work out why and had no powers to correct any of it. Valentines roses annoyed her, sending them, receiving them and yet she was also annoyed when she didn't receive one, or didn't send any. She didn't think she'd been more twisted around in her life. This seemed like such a trivial thing to be annoyed about, as she was sat in the library, tucked away in a corner against the wall, books floating around her as she tried to figure out what she was going to write for her History of Magic essay, but it was strangely because of this essay that she started to think about it. It didn't make much sense to her that she was a little bit annoyed by tiny little every day things that literally no one else in the world would even worry about, but there was just something in it that caused her to stop and think.
None of the offending actions even had anything to do with each other, Elsie had nothing to do with Zennon sitting with Sam, Professor Ward was no where near Professor Castillo and Sam was so far removed from any of this she had to wonder why she was thinking about her at all aside from the fact that she was her brothers girlfriend. She'd barely even spoken to her since she'd spent Christmas in the castle with Elio, which was another confusing point too, because now that confused her. It was probably the most confusing aspect of this whole situation. She couldn't figure out, really figure out, why Elio just let her get away with it all. She was whiny, annoying and extremely possessive, she'd told him that the day she'd vowed basically never to touch her camera again. And then she'd gone and picked up her camera to take a couple of sneaky photographs of Elio and hung them during his birthday. She hadn't touched her camera since that time and it was only at this precise moment that she realised it was because she felt really guilty. She'd done the thing she'd said she wouldn't do until she felt in control enough to trust herself with it, but she certainly didn't trust herself, if the way she was feeling was any evidence at all. All of this was making it extremely difficult for her to think straight let alone writing an essay that was supposed to get her some much desired house points.
Looking over the texts she was supposed to use for her essay, Rowan couldn't help but put herself into the shoes of some of the Gods. How must they have felt to have all of this power and then not be able to stop some of the awful things that were happening around them. It was panic inducing in the most minor of thoughts and she didn't even want to think about what else it could lead to for anyone who wasn't aware of themselves. It was a crazy thought to be sure. Osiris is the Egyptian Lord of the Underworld and Judge of the Dead, brother-husband to Isis, and one of the most important gods of ancient Egypt, the book said. The name `Osiris' is the Latinized form of the Egyptian Usir which is interpreted as 'powerful' or 'mighty'. The fact that he was named after two of his traits that meant the same thing annoyed Rowan almost as much as the rest of the afternoon had been annoying. She just didn't get it. None of it was helping her and the essay was due by next week. She groaned in annoyance and pushed the book aside, grabbing one that had been floating beside her. Where, when, and how Osiris was first worshipped is much disputed. It has been claimed that Osiris was originally a deified Predynastic king, a primitive vegetation spirit, a jackal god of an early royal necropolis, or a mother goddess. Rowan rolled her eyes, because as usual, this wasn't working out for her. It never did when she actually tried to do research on her own and of course Elsie wouldn't be there to help her, she hated History of Magic so it was questionable as to whether she would even do the homework at all.
Rowan wished Zennon was there, only she also didn't want him around because she was too frustrated really to deal with anyone at the moment, let alone anyone that was just going to tell her all the things she wanted to hear and not the things she needed to hear, though she didn't know what those things were or surely she'd be here saying them to herself rather than relying on having the answers from inside a textbook that wasn't going to do anything for her at all. Though Zennon surely would help her with her homework, sometimes he liked to talk and she wasn't really in a talking mood right now, she just wanted to deal with herself, with her emotions in a quiet moment where no one was going to do anything that could possibly annoy her. She just needed calm and quiet, not unexpected complications. She didn't know why it was so hard to just do things the way they were supposed to be and not throw her a curve ball. She was supposed to be able to move on with things and get over with it. Deal with it and just let things go as they would. She'd have been happy with that, surely there was something else she was supposed to be getting out of life and not this crazy weirdness she was getting instead that made even less sense to her than it seemed to make to literally anyone else. She dropped the next book into her lap and looked at the cover, The Search for God in Ancient Egypt, she snorted. It sounded like a muggle book and probably was not going to have any of the information she needed. Ah well. She shook her head and pulled out her parchment. Time to start from the top she supposed. She should at least have something to start with before she worries about anything else.

Considering it had taken her over an hour just to write the title and her name, she supposed she wasn't exactly off to a great start.

I wasn't going to post this because it got so long, but then I thought, nah, why not. Even if no one replies it's there for posterity. Feel free to read over it.
