Knock. Knock. Knock.

Hemi kept his knocks solid, well paced and professional. He knocked as if the headmistress herself was paying the Professor a surprise visit. It certainly was not the knock of a first year who had nothing better to do on a rainey afternoon other than bother a Professor with his Slytherin friend.

"Quick - hide" Hemi whispered to Charlotte urgently. The Gryffindor dived behind a suit of armour which had ample space to conceal both first years. Bending onto his knees, Hemi was able to gain direct tunnel vision to the door. He watched for signs of movement.

He bit the edge of his balled up fist, careful to ensure that no sound evaded his lips. He was not planning to get caught!

Charlotte hadn't had this much fun for at least 5 years and she was enjoying every bit of it. It reminded her of when she used to play with her cousins except her accomplice was her own age, was not related to her and was able to do magic just like herself. This was definitely going to be the highlight of Charlotte's year, even if they ended up getting into trouble over it.

As fast as she could, Charlotte went down low and followed Hemi behind a suit of armour once he knocked on the door. She buried her face in her hair and tried her best not to make a sound. Charlotte was quite a loud laugher and she didn't want it to ruin their chances. She didn't really want to get into trouble after having this much fun.

Professor Justin Cliffeton sat inside of his office as he began to look over the papers with the notes he had made about his students for the term. Their was some pretty half decent ones, but others struggled quite a lot and he would most definitely have to keep an eye on Hemi Te Rua. After he stormed off during the last lesson he had made a mental night to make sure that he would keep an eye on him. Hearing a knock at his door he called out for them to come in and when nobody came in he got up to check who was out there and he found nobody. Rolling his eyes he sat down and continued what he was doing.

If Charlotte and Hemi were smart, they'd move on, maybe hit a couple more studies before curfew. The reason they didn't; all the teachers offices were far apart. The first years would have to climb a million staircases to reach them all. Nope it was just Professor Cliffeton's office tonight.

Hemi waited a few minutes, he wanted to give the Professor enough time to settle back into his chair and resume repairing broomsticks - or whatever it is Flying Professors do in their office. Once he was satisfied he nodded to his partner in crime to make their second move.

Edging forward, Hemi anticipated Charlotte to knock this time. After the knock Hemi urgently returned to their hiding place behind a suit of armour.

Charlotte watched as the professor opened the door and looked outside to see who knocked. The confusion on his face was priceless and Charlotte tried her best not to make a sound. But they were going to keep knocking whether he liked it or not. After all, there was nothing else to do and Charlotte was not the type to go and study. She'd much rather be here annoying the professor.

Knock. Knock. Knock. After a while, Charlotte walked back to the door, knocked firmly then quickly ran back behind the suit of armour. This was definitely the best thing she'd done in years.

Once Justin had already settled down and began to get back to work he heard another knock on his door and gave a deep sigh. He knew that there was a student or two out there and they were pranking him. He was familiar with the prank they were playing on him and he wished that they would just keep to themselves instead of annoying him. Opening up his door, he walked out into the corridor. "I know you're there, come out now and I won't take you to your Heads of Houses." He said with an agitated look on his face. He had just wanted to have a nice and quiet night and he knew that the Heads of Houses wouldn't want to be bothered by something as simple as this.

Hemi sqeaked, it was an involuntary sound caused by the sudden urge to burst out laughing while having to force himself to remain silent. He covered his mouth with the back of his hand and held in the laugh until the door closed. Unfortunately, the door didn't close again.

From what Hemi could tell, Professor Cliffeton had figured out he had fallen victim to a juvenile prank and was not amused. When he called to show themselves Hemi looked at Charlotte. He shook his head no and, had it not given away their location, would've yelled 'NO DON'T SURRENDER! IT'S A TRICK. HE DOESN'T KNOW WHERE WE ARE!'

In truth, the odds of them getting caught were not in their favour. They were cornered. Running away wasn't an option since Hemi had learnt the hard way that running from a wizard more powerful than himself didn't work because, well, they could do magic! What Charlotte and Hemi could do with right now was an invisibility cloak, but sadly, they can't all be Harry Potter. That said Hemi still wasn't prepared to surrender.

Charlotte froze as she heard the professor speak up instead of going back into the room and closing the door behind him. He knew it was a prank and threatened to take them to their head of house. Charlotte hated her head of house and their last encounter had definitely not been what Charlotte was expecting. If Charlotte was afraid of anything it was her head of house and she really did not want to have to stare into that cold soul again for something else that she was doing wrong.

Despite not wanting to have to make her way to her head of house, Charlotte took a big sigh of relief when Hemi shook his head to say that he didn't want to have to surrender to the professor. They were having too much fun and there was no point if they were just going to give themselves in. Besides, Charlotte's head of house probably had too much on his plate right now and he'd hate Charlotte even more if she was dragged into his office once again. There was no way of them escaping now and Charlotte stayed still, trying her best not to make any sudden moves or any sudden noises that might give away their location. Hopefully her flying instructor would just give up and make his way back inside.

Justin sighed deeply when they continued to hide. He was certain that there was students out there but he would have felt a lot better if they would just leave him to do his marking. He turned around and headed back inside of his office, he would leave them alone for now because he wasn't overly interested in this. He hoped that they would have enough common sense to just leave him alone. He was tired, and he hoped they were smart kids. Sitting down, he sighed to himself. Why were kids so stupid sometimes?

It was Charlotte and Hemi's lucky day! Cliffeton had threatened to catch and reprimand them both, but he hadn't done either of those things. As a matter of fact he didn't do anything as he returned to his office. This was fantastic for the first years as they could continue the emensly entertaining game of Knock and Run.

Hemi waited for the door to slam shut before daring to speak again. "We should wait a bit, I bet he's waiting behind the door." He whispered, moving from a kneeling position to a more comfortable sitting position "What do you reckon?" Personally Hemi could do this all evening but they would have to draw the line somewhere. "One more then call it a night?"

Charlotte was glad that the professor hadn't punished them yet. He didn't even know which students were doing it which made Charlotte even more excited. She wanted to keep doing it all night but she knew that they were going to have to stop annoying the professor eventually. "This is so much fun though!" she whined when Hemi suggested they do it one more time and then call it a night. "But I guess we can't keep doing this all night." Reluctantly, she stood up and brushed the dust off her robes. "I'll do it." she said, walking slowly up to the wooden door, trying her best to keep her footsteps quiet. She knocked on the door firmly and then quickly ran back to their hiding space. If what Hemi said was true about the professor standing right at the door, she knew she was done for.
