Kat is extremely shy and introverted and will typically do what she can to avoid a confrontation with another person. She opens up easily though once someone takes the time to talk to her. She isn't very good at first impressions, and can tend to be a little awkward. Keep working at her though and the dam will break. Once she gets comfortable with someone she is extremely excitable and tends to babble a lot. She can get very snippy and sarcastic when she is stressed/tired/annoyed.
Kat is very much a thinker, she would much prefer reading a book to human interaction. She likes to study school texts, but her favorite books are fantasy novels, both wizarding and muggle. She is not a very sporty person, but she absolutely adores flying. She enjoys quidditch a bit too, but not nearly enough to have a desire to play it. She'd prefer to just take her broom for a few laps around the pitch on her own or with a friend. Maybe a pick-up game here and there, but nothing too serious.

History
Kat was born and raised in Christchurch, NZ. She grew up as an only child of a wizard and a muggle, and had the best of both worlds. She did not have much interaction with other kinds her own age though, with the exception of her father's best friend's daughter, Luna Birch. The two had occasional visits throughout their first 6 years, before the Birch's moved back to New Zealand from France. From then on Kat and Luna were near inseparable, and even had lessons together from both of their parents.
Kat's maternal grandparents passed away while she was at a very young age, so she holds no memories of them. The only family she knows aside from her parents are her paternal grandparents. She did not encounter them often in her life, especially before she showed her first signs of accidental magic. He grandparents did not approve of their only son, and heir, marrying a muggle as their family had been purebloods for many generations. They considered the marriage to be beneath him, and thus did not accept their only grandchild either.
However, that fact remains that Kat is currently the last descendant of the Porter family and is thus the only option as Heir to the line. She tries her hardest to please her grandparents, but no matter what she does, she is never good enough. This has led to many of Kat's insecurities.

Kat loves anything and everything to do with Potions and is very eager to learn anything she can on the subject. She loves music, both magical and muggle, but is not musically inclined herself. She is a fair flyer, but wouldn't consider herself good enough, or confident enough, to go out for quidditch. She adores fictional stories, and would gladly spend all of her free time reading them if she could. She has shown slight interest in art, but with all of her other hobbies, she has not had time to explore any possibly talents in that field.
Goals:
Kat's main goal currently is to prove to her family that she is worthy of being heir to the Porter line. She will soon realize that nothing she does will sway their opinion and shift her goals toard her dream of becoming a Potion's Master.
Fears:
Kat fears failure above all else. She has never seen failure as even being an option for her. She is also fearful of bad confrontations with other people, and disappointing others.
Strengths:
Kat is very attentive and is a quick learner. She is very stubborn and will not give up on something until she has exhausted every available option.
Weaknesses:
Kat's shyness is her biggest downfall, she will avoid talking to other people if at all possible, making many things more difficult in the long run. Her stubbornness, while sometimes helpful, is also detrimental to her as she sometimes has a hard time accepting help from others, believing she should be able to do things on her own.

Kat happened to have the book Margo was seeking. After some clumsy introductions on both parts the two began to click and are on track to being fast friends. | Nixon Mercury: Kat ran into Nixon as they were both exploring the castle one day. Kat, embarrassed at barging in on the boy tried to leave before he reassured her. They had some issues getting conversation started, but are beginning to work it out. |
