Alex couldn't believe that so many years ago he had been struggling to talk to Victoire because of her at the time boyfriend. He was admittedly a bit ashamed of himself at times because he had been quite petty about things. Some days he was still so surprised that a person like him had ended up with someone like her, it was a pairing that he would have never believed in when he was younger and certainly something that his parents would have never let him believe him. Nonetheless, the two of them had been going strong for years now, and he felt like maybe now was the time to take things a little bit further.

He waited for her outside a restaurant, she was working a little bit late, which was nothing unusual and happened more often than not. She was one probably one of the hardest working people in her department and had been extremely involved in the last election. He was proud of everything she was accomplishing and tried his best to be supportive whenever he could. He held a few roses in his hand for her and was looking forward to the night ahead.

Victoire couldn't believe she was running late for dinner. She knew she'd told Alex that she'd be working a little late, but they were going out for dinner and she had tried to be out the door as soon as she had said she would be. It was just one of the occasions that Victoire was very happy that she was magical, since the moment she could leave, no matter how much later it was it wouldn't ever be that bad because she could just apparate to where she needed to be. The woman had been kept busy, though the election was over and she'd had fun with it, the woman had been kept busy with her job, as she always did. Her work was very important to her, and she knew that Alex's work was important to him, it meant that despite their busy and often conflicting schedules, she liked that they tended to still try to take the time for each other.
It was also why Victoire was a little frustrated that she had been kept later than she had wanted to. She was late for an important date night with Alex, because all of them were important to Victoire. Victoire fixed her hair and her skirt as she walked to where she could see Alex, she broke into a little jog the remainder of the way and greeted her partner warmly. "Hey honey," she said as she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him lightly on the lips, "Sorry I'm late," she said with a sorry smile, she did feel bad whenever she was late, having always tried to be good and on time to things. "I hop you haven't been waiting too long," Victoire hadn't noticed the flowers in his hand, and was just keeping his gaze on him, a look of warmth and love on her face as she looked at him.

Alex raised his eyes when he heard the familiar crack of apparition and saw Victoire rushing towards him. He had been completely content in waiting for her to arrive, knowing completely that she would arrive as soon as she was able too. He had complete trust in his partner, and he felt a smile creating itself on his face as his girlfriend brought her arms around him and he felt the familiar feel of her lips on his, pushing into the kiss that she gave him. "Hey." He said, "You look great." He told her, offering the flowers that he had gotten for her. "Not long at all." He told her, return the look she gave to him. He cherished the time that he got to spend with her.

Alex knew that they wouldn't get to spend the exact amount of time that they wanted together because of their busy jobs, so he made sure to make every moment together special. He walked towards the door, holding it open for her to walk inside before slipping his hand into hers and walking in behind her. He quickly explained that they had an appointment and the waiter led them to their table. He held out her seat for her before taking his own, "How was your day?" He asked, with a smile, and settled in to listen.

Victoire smiled easily at him as he handed her the flowers. She took the bouquet and held them in her hand as she just marvelled at them, "These are beautiful Alex, thank you," the woman brought her nose towards them and smelled them. It was a nice gesture and she definitely appreciated him and everything he did, they were a good pair, and she knew how much he loved her by the little gestures as much as the big ones. The woman nodded, "That's not too bad," Victoire joked lightly with him, but she still would feel bad that she had been a little late. Work was always so complicated. Victoire walked in the door when he held it open for her and squeezed his hand a little as they were lead to their table. Victoire waited until she was seat until she replied to his question,
"My day was good, it's been busy, things are always so busy in our department, especially given the hand over in leadership," The woman said, she had to imagine that if her department was having a hard time then his auror department would be having an even worse time of it. Victoire placed the flowers down on the table beside her plate, where they was enough space for her to do so. it was so lovely and the restaurant that Alex had brought her to was amazing, it was beautiful. "I bet your department is even busier with it, what with having to look after the candidates and stuff," Victoire said "I'm so glad we could make this time together, this is a beautiful restaurant, how did you find it?" She reached out and took his hand in hers squeezing it lightly. She was very glad they could spend this time together. A nice lovely night just the two of them. Boy did Victoire love him.

Alex smiled at his girlfriend when she accepted the flowers he had given her. He was happy that she liked them, he'd spent an embarassingly long time picking them out in the store. It had been a difficult choice indeed, but he had arrived at what seemed to be the correct choice in the end, and for that he was quite grateful. He had spent an even longer time picking the other thing that he had procured for her, and he was certain without a doubt that she would like it, but he had no idea what her answer would be when it came time to give it to her.

He sighed a bit, his eyes falling, but then they shot straight back up and a grin spread across his face, and he squeezed her hand back as she took his. "Yeah, it's absolutely crazy for us too. What with the Scitorari involvement in the elections. What a mess. You'd think they'd have more thorough background checks." He said with a chuckle, hoping that this would help mask his previous uncertainty. He shrugged when she asked where he found the place. "I just walked past it on my way to somewhere else, and it looked like a fun place to be." He said with a grin.

He looked up when the waiter came to take their order. "Ladies first." He said, and when she had ordered he ordered something chickeny and just gave her a smile as he lost himself in those eyes. Tonight would hopefully be the perfect night.

Victoire couldn’t imagine how busy his department would be, if hers was already so busy. They were busy with some of the transfers in power but that would be nothing compared with what Alex’s department was involved in. Victoire gave him a little smile and nodded sympathetically. She knew that the hours had been difficult on them, but the importance of these nights was just even more pronounced that before. They needed to make time for each other and they had always tried and now was just that. The former gryffindor knew that working on relationships and being visible. She loved Alex and she knew that she wanted to spend time with him, she wanted to be with him. They would remain together she hoped. The woman nodded as he mentioned that he had just passed it, ”It’s beautiful Alex,” She agreed, as she looked at the menu and quickly picked what she having and ordered it, ”Oh and a bottle of some house white wine,” she quickly added after Alex had ordered his. She looked back at him and smiled warmly, he was looking at her warmly, in a way that she just loved. She enjoyed how they were, and she looked back at him very fondly. ”This is really nice Alex,” She commented as she glanced about, ”I’m glad we could do this,” she squeezed his hand lightly and smiled, ”We should do this more often, if only we both had the time,” she joked with a little smile, they were both constrained but she would never ask him to ever give up anything and she knew he would do the same for her, they lived and spent almost all of their available time together and that was what matter, that was what was important.

Alex couldn't help but smile hearing Victoire speak, he just loved her so damn much. He couldn't believe the history they had gone through together and even more than that he couldn't believe the outcome, that they had ended up together. Seeing the way she looked at him filled him with confidence and it made him appreciate everything that he had and everything he had accomplished more than ever. He looked around the restaurant, admiring it. It certainly was a nice place, and a good choice for what he had planned. He smiled, and he thought he heard something in that little mention of wanting to have more time together.. and wanting to take the full advantage of the moment ahead of them, "Well.. speaking of time..." He said, and he stood up, got down on a knee, and popped open a ring box in front of her. "How do you want to spend all the time in the world with me & get married?" He asked her.

Victoire was glancing around the restaurant, she smiled at him as she did so. It was just nice, things were good between them, had been for a very long time, they had just managed to strike quite the balance. They didn’t need to think too much about it. It was just perfect. She was a little curious when he stood up and started speaking. She gasped a little when he got down on one knee and opened a ring box. She couldn’t believe what he was doing, there was no way he was actually proposing to her right now. She couldn’t help the hands which rose to her mouth as he proceeded to do just that. He was actually proposing to her. Victoire reached down and took his hands and just started nodding, ”Of course!” She couldn’t help the excitement in her voice. She couldn’t help the way her face was showing all of her joy and excitement. Who would’ve thought that a tentative friendship would grow to mean so much. How much she cared about and for him. How much she loved him. It would be the best part of her life to be with him for the entirety of it. They could have the time to grow old together. To share all aspects of their life together. She loved him so much, ”Yes, of course,” the woman was so happy, so pleased, so content.
