This would be Sophie's second year as editor of the Hogwarts paper, and she felt more confident than she had the year before. She liked being a part of the club a lot, and enjoyed working on the end result with the other members. She would miss Noemie, who had helped her a lot last year. The girl had graduated recently, along with Sophie's sister and another club member Evelyn. But at the club fair a lot of young students had shown interest in the club, which Sophie had been happy about. The Ravenclaw really wanted to make the new members feel welcome to the club, the way she had been welcomed when she had joined in her first year. She hoped everyone else would do the same, as she knew it could be intimidating to be in a club with older students.

Sophie had gotten the room ready for the meeting, putting up a few decorations as well as scattering around old issues, as it would show the legacy they were working with. The school paper had been going on for years before Sophie even started school, and it would hopefully go on for just as long after she graduated. She had pushed a few tables together so people could sit together, though there was room to stand around and chat too. Snacks and drinks were spread over the room, and Sophie was sure it would be enough for the meeting. She tucked her hair behind her ear, then put on a smile. She didn't smile often, but Hogwarts Monthly was something near to her heart, and it wasn't difficult to feel excited and happy about this new year of running it.

After a year, Caro was over any secret bitterness that Sophie had been chosen to be editor. Her friend had done an excellent job with the paper last year, and Caro was relieved not to have quite so much responsibility on her plate. She only had to worry about her pictures, and that was one thing she was perfectly confident doing. Arriving at the meeting to prepare for their first issue of the year, Caro was pleased to see only Sophie had arrived so far, hurrying over to her friend and giving her a hug. "Hi!" Caro said cheerfully, feeling uncharacteristically happy today. She didn't know what it was, but Caro knew this was going to be a good year for the paper. "Excited for today?" She asked, releasing Sophie from the hug and taking the seat next to her.

Sophie wasn't surprised Caro was the first person at the meeting, and she gave her friend a small smile. She had thought Caro was perhaps a bit disgruntled that Sophie had been chosen to take over the paper, but it seemed like that was in the past now. Sophie gave her friend a hug, a little surprised by how happy she seemed today. Sometimes Caro could be incredibly grumpy, though Sophie was hardly one to talk. "Hello." She said with a smile as she let go of her friend. "I suppose so. There's a lot of new students, I hope they'll come so we can help them get started." She said, a little nervous that the meeting would be ignored by some of the members.

Sydney pushed her way into Hogwarts Monthly meeting room, quickly taking stock of the room. She'd done her best not to arrive too early, in case anyone thought she was too eager, but it seemed like there wasn't too many people here yet regardless. She dropped herself into a free seat, trying to appear nonchalant and composed. She knew there were several other first years joining the paper this year and Sydney wanted to make a point of standing out so that everyone would take her seriously. Writing was no joke to her and she wasn't just here for fun. She'd figured if she wanted a platform for what she wanted to say, the paper would be the place to do it.

Cyzarine skipped her way to the Hogwarts Monthly meeting, she had a wide smile on her features and was making her way to the room. She had been so pleased to have been accepted to be a part of the club, she was just an intern but she was ready to do her first article, she was excited to have a go at writing for a proper school newspaper. She had always wanted to do that. The Gryffindor arrived at the room and smiled happily at the two girls who were already in the room, one of the girls was the one who had signed her up. She waved happily at them both and walked up to them, ”Hi, I’m Cyzarine!” she greeted, at least one of the girls might know her name but the other one was far less likely to. She thought it would be good to introduce herself to them both, and additionally show them how ready and excited she was to work with them. ”I’m very excited to get started,” the Gryffindor smiled excitedly at them both. She was very ready for it, and her energy towards it was near palpable.

Joshua came to the Hogwarts Monthly meeting, Sophie expecting them all to be there. Joshua wasn't going to let her down and not show up. Joshua casually enters the room with his typical journal at hand. Before this meeting, he was told he was promoted to reporter status. He didn't know to feel about that, to him it was all the same. Unless he was an editor like Sophie, Joshua didn't see the difference in updating his status. He guessed he should feel great and honor about it. He thanked Sophie during their first week back at school. Joshua took a seat and placed his journal right in front of him. He was quieter than usual, he barely greeted anyone else in the room. Joshua sat with his arms crossed over his chest, silently brainstorming of articles he can write about this year. He still wants to pursue investigative journalism. But how will be able to if Sophie followed a formal outline from the previous years? Joshua doesn't think it would be possible to do if Sophie didn't agree with that kind of reporting.

Samantha finally found the room where the Hogwarts Monthly was taking place. She got lost as Hogwarts was still a new surrounding to her. Once she got inside, she noticed that there were some students already there. There were a couple of faces she could recognise and a lot she hadn't. She waved shyly at some of the students that were there. She was excited about this, and she couldn't wait for this part of her life to begin.

Sophie was glad when her worries seemed to be for nothing, as three of the new members then entered the room along with Joshua. Sophie gave them all a smile, then gestured around. "Take a snack or something to drink, and feel free to chat a bit with each other. I'll wait for a few more members to arrive and then we'll start the meeting." She told the group, forcing herself to give the younger girls her friendliest smile. She wanted to be a good role model for them as head of the club, even though she really wasn't a very social person. It didn't come naturally to her, but she had to try. One of the younger girls came up and introduced herself, and Sophie nodded at her. "Hi Cyzarine, it's nice to have you on board."

Nell had enjoyed every moment on the school paper so far last year, and privately thought it might be her favourite of the myriad clubs she had joined. She was excited that her writing had been published twice already, and couldn't wait to see what they would be writing about this year. Not wanting to miss out, she made her way into their clubroom for the meeting, grinning brightly as she saw the collection of people already gathered there. "Hi guys!" Nell said brightly, taking a seat with her clubmates. She was excited for the year to come, and wondered what new scoops would make their way into this semester's issue.

As another student joined, Sophie glanced at the clock. It was time for the meeting to begin, though she hoped the other members would join them later. She smiled at everyone who had arrived, then spoke to them. "Welcome to Hogwarts Monthly. This is the first meeting of the club this year, and it won't be a very formal one. We'll meet again soon to work on the first issue together, but I wanted this meeting to simply be one where we could chat and catch up with each other. We have a few new members, and I would like to ask our existing members to make them feel welcome." She said, giving the young girls who had joined a smile she tried to make as friendly as possible. It was perhaps a bit forced, but she hoped they wouldn't notice that. "If anyone has suggestions for the club and ideas they want to bring to my attention, this would be a good time for that as well. I'm always happy to listen to feedback from the members, as that will help the club grow." She then gestured at the snacks she had brought. "Feel free to eat and drink something while you talk with each other... I think that's really all I wanted to say." She said, ending her speech a bit sheepishly. "Oh, have fun." She added.
