Michael Watson
Ravenclaw
Seventh Year
Lessons 1, 2, 3
Lesson One
Michael was so close to the end of school he could almost taste it. That was worrying, in a way - he didn't really know what was coming next. Not Quidditch, he knew he wasn't good enough for that. He didn't have any solid plans and that was worrying, but all he could do was just get through the rest of the semester, survive the NEWTs, and then go home to take care of his mum while he worked out the next steps. He tried to put the worry in the back of his mind as he sat in the History of Magic classroom, certainly not wanting to get on Professor Borisyuk's bad side. He could've kicked his backside into next week. The topics this year were interesting, Michael noted that they would be learning about the goblin wars, the giant wars, and the scitorari, things he didn't really know very much about. Hopefully that would be enough of a distraction from his anxieties, he thought, making a mental note to go talk to Professor Moncrieffe as well if he got a chance to do some revision.
Lesson Two
Michael was quick to take his seat and get ready to take notes in History of Magic, not wanting to waste the professor's time. There was a lot to go over, so Michael buckled down and started making a few notes as the professor lectured. They started with talks of the goblin rebellions, which were quite brutal, and Michael paused briefly as it was mentioned that they had allied with werewolves. Well, that was an unexpected alliance. He supposed desperation in what was probably a lot of prejudice led people to band together in desperation.
Michael kept writing, though he could feel how awkward learning about the giant wars from Professor Borisyuk was. He would keep his mouth shut, naturally - Michael didn't engage in conflict if he could help it (issues with his roommates aside). It was good to think things were getting better, but that wasn't necessarily the case. It wasn't often one saw part-giants and part-goblins - the only ones Michael had come across were this very professor and one of the other prefects. Michael was fairly lucky to not fully understand the prejudice, he figured. He made a note of the homework and headed out once they were dismissed.
Lesson Three
Michael remembered the Unforgivable Curse lessons - they were rather unforgettable as well as unforgivable. He set about taking notes as Professor Borisyuk lectured. He felt a little uncomfortable hearing about the Scitorari, considering their initial origins. Perhaps they weren't as outright evil as they used to be, in the sense they didn't necessarily have an evil dictator leader anymore. But Michael was still pretty wary. He hoped he wouldn't come across them, at any rate - after all, he was just a fairly run of the mill wizard. It was good to know about their symbol and their existence, however, as this way Michael would know what to stay away from for his own safety.
