Professor Harrington was excited for this class. The first year was the most informative, for the students and herself. If the students were bored already she'd know not to except those students past 5th year, but those excited for the class were the most thrilling to watch as they'd grow up the next few years. "Kia ora, hello all! Welcome back to another week of Astronomy! I hope you are all excited for another lesson," Sarah said as she began to set up for the lesson. She was going to use a rare bit of magic to teach the students their lesson today. "This week we are going to be looking at how stars move in the sky." Professor Harrington stood at the front of the class, pausing a moment in case the students still had yet to take out their note taking utensils.

"Now if I were able to keep you all night you'd be able to see how the stars pass over us in the nighttime sky, much like the sun does during the day. To make things simple this week we are staying inside and I'll be showing you with a ceiling demonstration, much like the same magic used for the Great Hall ceiling. This will allow me to control time above us in our classroom sky." She cast her spell and soon enough there was a bubble around the classroom and looking up you could see stars appearing. The bubble did not reach the floor and was more like an umbrella over the students and herself. "Now, this is an exact representation of the night sky on September 1st, around 10pm, when you all had first arrived to the castle, about the time I'm sure you were all falling asleep," Professor Harrington said with a little laugh looking over at the faces of the students. "You'll notice when you look up facing towards the front of the classroom, a large star along our horizon line, this is Vega in the constellation Lyra," she said waving her wand so lines appeared connecting the stars to form the small constellation.

"Now watch what happens to the star Vega when I move time forward to how the night sky appeared just a few hours later," she said as she waved her wand and the stars began to slowly move across their pretend sky as the night she was recreating was moving along. The star Vega quickly fell beneath the horizon and to the east new stars were appearing and rising up, but the stars towards the south remained more or less the same. She stopped when the time would have been around three in the morning. "Vega is no longer visible, in fact in the same position is the constellation Pegasus," said the teacher as she again waved her wand and lines formed where the constellation was. "Now, constellations are something we will go into further later on your third year, for now think about what happened during the night on September 1st between 10pm and 3am that would change the nighttime sky like that? Next week we are going to go into more details about this process with more technical terms, see you all next week!" Professor Harrington said dismissing the class. She figured after the excitement of the lesson homework would be best saved for once their lesson on how the stars move in the sky was finished.

This Week:
*Kia ora means Hello in the Native New Zealand Language, Maori.
Please post with your student role playing the lesson!

Alexis paid extremely close attention to the class. This was something she enjoyed. Watching the stars. She's had plenty of time to do so before coming to Hogwarts. Accompanied with her Insomnia she paid much detail to the night sky while folding paper. That was something she was doing now as the professor spoke about the constilation Pegasus she folded a piece of paper maticulously into a horse. She thought of the constilations she knew as the professor spoke. This was a class she looked forward to each week

Lily walked up to the Astronomy classroom and took a seat at the front of the class and and saved a seat for @Aisling Sullivan because Lily knew Aisling loved Astronomy. Lily greeted the teacher softly " Kia ora Professor. " hoping Professor Harrington and heard her. Lily took out some parchment and her quill to write notes during the lecture.
As Professor Sarah explained what was going to happen in this lesson Lily smiled. As the night sky appeared on the roof of the classroom Lily leaned backwards facing up at the ceiling. Lily watched in amazement as the stars changed as the time passed by.
As Lily heard that the class was dismissed she looked down at her frieher and said " Wow! That was amazing right? " Lily smiled as she packed up her things. Before she walked toward the door she turned to Professor Sarah and said " Good night Professor! " After that she left the classroom with Aisling and went on to the next thing.

Nikola entered the Astronomy classroom with a spring in his step, it being his favourite class. It would have been impossible for it not to be, given the fact that astronomy had been a rather large part of his life growing up. It was convenient to have the observatory so close to the Ravenclaw Common Room, as well - it was one of the few classes where he didn't think he was going to die on his way to it by risking the staircases. Whoever thought it would be a good idea to enchant them to move either feared the castle being raided far too much, or was just downright cruel.
He definitely enjoyed the recreation of the sky above them, and it was almost distracting enough to take his attention off his note writing, but when the professor started naming constellations and stars, be snapped right back to the lesson and began writing it all down. There was plenty to think about, and he wasn't particularly happy to hear that he would have to wait until third year to learn about the constellations in the sky, but he supposed he could always ask his father. It would be rather nice to have a topic of conversation over their shared hobbies. The young Ravenclaw finished up his notes on the shifting sky above as they were dismissed and left the classroom with a quiet goodbye to the professor, after thinking it a nice thought when he noticed fellow Ravenclaw @Lily Harbour do the same before him. He just wasn't quite at the level of doing so from across the classroom.

Sutton had been enjoying her experience so far in the Astronomy Classroom as she climbed up the stairs, knowing that she would soon have to climb down them once more as they went on their nightly excursion to the cliffs. The young Ravenclaw did not mind though, the night star was worth way more than the walking journey. Sutton had been looking forward to watching the stars all week, the view could not be beat.

The young blonde entered the Astronomy tower and took a random seat. She did not have an 'assigned' seat in this room, rather all seats seemed equally fitting. Surprised, that Sutton would be sitting the entire lecture, she listened to the Professor's introduction to the lecture. They would actually being staying the classroom today. Sutton was a little bummed about that, however the Professor mentioned she would turn the classroom into the night sky. Not as good as the real thing Sutton thought. She was begining to get use to the ever changing night sky in the Great Hall. Don't get her wrong, it was still amazing and beautiful, but it had become accustomed to it since she experienced it on a daily basis. To see it in the Astronomy classroom would be different though.

Sutton took out her quill, ink and parchment knowing that she soon would have to take some notes. Some of these constellations were difficult to remember, some almost impossible to spell. But she was doing her best as she listened to the Professor. Sutton made sure to watch the night sky the most, jotting notes down in between. It was much more interesting to see the stars than learn their names.

Movement of Stars in the Sky
-Vega Star (In the Constellation Lyra)
-The Vega Star on September 1st Along the Horizon Line
-Hours Later, The Vega Star moves beneath the Horizon, More stars appear in the East, The South remains similar.
-Now Replaced with Constellation Pegasus

Sutton watched in amazement as the stars moved in the star in such a pattern. She was not sure if she could ever learn the pattern, but she felt like she was a stargazer in one of her novels, She could be a pirate looking at the stars to determine their pattern, her way to the treasure. Or she could be a sailor watching the stars to find her way home. The young Ravenclaw felt like all of these as she watched the night sky. Although it wasn't the same, she understood the purpose. I wouldn't mind one of these in my bedroom She thought wondering if she could learn to enchant her own ceiling one day.

As the lesson was dismissed, Sutton blinked her eyes a few time, trying to adjust her eyes after gazing so long at the ceiling above. Sutton packed up her parchment and quill, climbing down the stairs. She wondered if she could sneak outside now and see the real position of the stars, but she decided against it as she made her way to the Ravenclaw Common Room, a few hours of sleep wouldn't hurt.

Ann entered the classroom together with another group of Ravenclaw students. She sat herself down and was excited about what this lesson would bring. Last week she had been enjoying their stargazing night, and hoped that they would do something along those lines again.

When the ceiling of the Astronomy classroom lit up with the night sky, Ann let her mouth fall open in awe. During the entire lesson the gaped at the ceiling, while being sure to sometimes quickly scrabble a few notes in her notebook. When they were told that the lesson was over. Ann once more looked up at the enchanted ceiling. She grabbed her notes and ran after the others who were already walking down the spiral staircase.

Marlow had been up again sketching her notebook. She was working on, concindently, a night time sky. She had been inspirated by the view from the Towers and could not get the image out of her head. With her pencils sprawled out on her bed and her sketchbook open, Marlow leaned over and drew what she could from memory, but something was off. Something the young Slytherin could not put her finger on. Tapping her pencil against the sketchbook, it came to her. She needed a real life subject or in this case the real life night sky. Actually perfect she thought as she looked at the time. She had exactly ten minutes to get to her lesson. She could finish the drawing there. She did not always have to take notes.

Marlow threw her pencils and sketchbook into her backpack. Swinging the overly full backpack over her shoulder, she left the dungeons knowing she had a hike in front of her. She knew she may be a few minutes late, but she did not want to have to rush. Her mind still full of ideas to finish her new 'masterpiece.'

Right one time, Marlow entered the Classroom, only a minute to spare before the Professor began her lecture. Marlow sat in the back and took out her sketch book realizing it may look odd to take out a muggle colored pencil. That's going to make it look obvious. She thought rolling her eyes at herself for not realizing this sooner. Luckily, Marlow did have a quill and some ink in her bag. She had never quite practiced art with this medium, but now was the time. Marlow set her ink well on the desk and picked up her quill. She began to start filling in some shading on her drawing as the Professor spoke.

They would be staying in the classroom today. But what about my inspiration! Marlow thought angerily as she contemplated leaving the classroom and going to the cliffs herself. Luckily before Marlow packed up the Professor said she would be doing a magical sky demonstration. That made things even easily for Marlow would now could look at the sky and have a desk to help keep her drawing balanced. It will do She said with a smile to herself as the Professor began her lesson.

Marlow seemed to have zoned out many of the actual words as the Professor spoke, but she did seem to pay attention in her own way. Marlow watched as the night star began to change. She followed the stars adding them to her drawing, not having as much time to get it perfect as she wanted, but it certainly was giving her sketch the movement it did not have before. It seemed flat from the image in her mind, now Marlow had a moving sky to add all the right elements.

Just as the young girl finished about three fourths of her drawing, the Professor dismissed the class. Taking one last good look at the stars above, Marlow packed up her things, closing her sketchbook carefully not to smudge any ink. The young Slytherin girl left the Astronomy tower, heading straight back down to her dorm to finish the artwork that had taken a surprising turn due to the lesson she had just attended.

Settling into class, Brooke took out her notes as Professor Harrington got their lesson started. She appreciated how excited the professor always seemed for this subject, generally finding enthusiasm for the subject meant the teacher was often more involved in their subject. Brooke found the magical projection of the night sky fascinating, staring up at it appreciatively. She wished that was something they could learn quickly, but she had no doubt both it and the spell on the hall ceiling were more complex magic. Maybe as she got older she could convince Professor Harrington to show her. She took notes of the stars and constellations the professor mentioned, tracking their movements across the projection of the sky. They were moving, or more specifically Brooke knew the Earth was moving, but it was interesting to watch it happen spend up before their eyes. With the lesson over, Brooke packed up her things, stretching so her neck didn't cramp up before making her way downstairs.

Penny couldn't say that she was passionate about Astronomy, but she enjoyed staying up late to watch the nights sky and listen to the Professor share all her knowledge about it. This week was a ceiling demonstration that Penny was happy to listen to. It helped the Professor demonstrate her point in accelerated time using the nights sky from Sorting. Penny snorted, she had not been asleep at 10pm on that night or taken a look at the stars either. She listened to the Professor continue to teach them, remembering to make some notes along the way. By the end of the lecture, Penny was beginning to feel sleepy and returned to the Slytherin Common Room for the night.

Astronomy was definitely winding up to be one of Hadley's favourite classes because it was all about science, and science was stuff that she actually knew, why wouldn't she enjoy it? She grinned as she walked into he classroom and immediately took a seat, waving at @Nikola Raven as she did so, though she didn't sit with him as she knew she would only ask him questions and she didn't want to distract him from his work. Instead, she sat towards the back and looked up at the recreation of the sky above them. How cool was that!? As one of (the only) only classes they did science in, Hadley was confident enough to express the perhaps this was her best class, or it would be and she was sure she would get an A, well, she hoped she would get an A, or whatever that equivalent was, because she wasn't totally sure, given there seemed to be different system here than at home. At home, getting an A meant you were at the top of the class, but receiving one here apparently was more average. There was obviously a reason for that, though she would have to find out because she didn't herself understand any of it. The grading system was so weird. She loved the demo with the changing of the sky though and wondered if magic would help build a more accurate projection model though this one seemed to be fairly accurate. She didn't feel the need to take notes in this class and so she packed up as it was time to leave and headed back to the common room, just hoping she wasn't going to pass out on the lounge.

Lina, better known as Pavlina Zhefarovich, didn't like or dislike any of her classes really, well, that was a partial lie as for the most part, Defence Against the Dark Arts with her brother was a fun time all around, because she actually trusted him as an educator to give her the truth, but she supposed of other classes, perhaps, Astronomy was another she liked, because she could look up and see the exact point the Professor was talking about reflected back at her. She sat back in her chair and looked up at the night sky, which was a reflection of the night they'd all showed up in September. It was pretty cool and she was interested in knowing more about all of this. That kind of thing was cool and she knew that the planets all meant other things, thought to be honest, the passion about the subject would likely never exist, she was still convinced it would be a fairly good class. She took notes as she knew she should and grinned as the lesson ended. She, unlike others, had taken a nap in the dorms so of course she was better rested, not that she didn't want to head up to her dorm now and sleep for a week.

Ruben entered the Astronomy classrom, he'd be lying if he said this was his favourite class but it was surely an informative and interesting one, one of those classes that you go to just for the fun of it because it makes you feel good and it's actually really easy to understand.
Professor Harrington said that today the would be learning about the stars movement on the sky. Ruben had never thought about that, the sun 'moved' on the sky as the Earth rotated around itself so it was obvious that stars would do the same but it was just a thing that never really crossed his mind since the sun is usually the main focus on muggle classes.
The teacher then made a projection of the stars in the night sky, it was really beautiful and Ruben took a mental note to ask Professor Harrington how to cast that spell, it would be a great decoration in the ceiling of his room, maybe it was a little advanced right now but he would make sure to ask her in the following year.
She pointed a star, Vega, that exactly over Ruben's head, he looked up and then to the teacher again who gave him a smile, probably noticing that too. She kept going on Vega's movement that after five hours wouldn't be visible anymore and that the constellation Pegasus was now taking Vega's former place.
Ruben looked up again, looking at Pegasus, he wondered why was it called that way, it didn't look like a pegasus to him, it didn't look like anything to him but he was always bad at seeing figures in the constellations, it wasn't as easy as finding figures in the clouds.
The professor ended the class but before that she tell to think about what might have happened in the sky that it would change it like that. He was glad that they didn't have homework today and he left the class with a another bit of knowledge he didn't have before.

Sydney arrived to class, one of her favourites. Professor Harrington was with the same good mood as always, it was kind of her signature card. The Ravenclaw girl really enjoyed last class and hoped there would be more classes where they would go out to watch the sky. Maybe not all classes and maybe not on cold and rainy days but a class outside seemed more enjoyable and more carefree which was different and that's exactly why most students liked last class too, some liked the stars, some just enjoyed being out, odd teaching methods were the new cool.
The girl started paying attention when Professor Harrington started speaking, unfortunately they wouldnmt go out again tonight but they would be seeing a night sky projection which was really cool, Sydney remembered noticing that on her first time inside the Great Hall.
Today's topic would be the stars movement in the sky, Professor Harrington then casted a spell and a dark sheet with white shiny dots covered the ceiling of the classroom. It wasn't as good as seeing it outside but it would have to suffice. The teacher then started talking about Vega and it's movement and position on the day they first arrived at Hogwarts, Sydney remembered looking out of her dorm window to the sky on that night but she didn't pay much attention to the sky. The professor said that a few hours after the Vega star was gone and now another constellation took its place, it was really interesting to see that the whole sky had changed into something completely different, most of the stars had disappeared and others were still in the sky but in a different position than before.
The class soon wrapped up and Professor Harrington dismissed them, Sydney couldn't wait to keep learning about this next week, this week's class was certainly very informative.

Beckett arrived at class, he was the first arriving, as usual "Kia ora" he said smiling to Professor Harrington who didn't notice him come in. She smiled back at him and he couldn't figure out if it was her usual smile that she gives to every student or if she felt genuinely happy for that. It wasn't that much of a big deal to repeat something she says every class but maybe she got proud that she was rubbing off in a student.
Ten minutes later the classroom was packed with first years and Beckett was ready to learn. Professor Harrington started her lecture on today's topic which was the apparent movement of the stars in the sky. The professor decided to cast a spell in order to provide a fake night sky so they could study without having to go outside and wait hours to see the way stars moved.
Beckett watched carefully as Professor Harrington explained the how the position of Vega changed and how in a matter of hours the stars stops being visible in the sky to give place to the Pegasus constellation. It was a really informative class and Beckett was taking notes and loving every second but unfortunately it soon came to an end. Professor Harrington decided to leave the more technical terms for next week and end class for today.

Veronica was going for another round of Astronomy, that didn't exactly thrilled her but she wasn't bothered with it either. She had really enjoyed last class and being out watching the sky, she even had a drawing in her notebook as a reminder of that class.
She opened her notebook and admired her drawing from last class, it was fun to draw something different for a change and drawing starry skies wasn't exactly easy.
Professor Harrington in the meantime welcomed all the students and told them that today they would be learning about the stars' movement in the sky. Veronica knew that stars didn't really moved and they like they did because the Earth was rotating all the time but she didn't care, the spell that the professor casted was so pretty that she didn't care if she knew that already or not. She was amazed with the amount of skies and constellations, it was even more impressive that the projection didn't even show the whole night sky as some thing kept disappearing and others appearing as the time passed.
Professor Harrington decided to dismiss the class and spare the details for next week, Veronica hoped she would still cast the same spell of today.

While the previous astronomy lesson had been quite interesting Alison hoped they would be staying in the classroom as she headed back up the Astronomy tower. It was late and it was cold outside so hoped they wouldn't be seeing a repeat of their astronomer adventure. She took her seat and listened as Professor Harrington started telling them they'd be studying the movement of stars in the sty, which made her nervous they'd be going outside but thankfully that wasn't the case and instead Professor Harrington produced a projected version of the night sky on the ceiling that they were able to observe. That was cool, it was all the joy of stargazing without having to go outside! Once Professor Harrington had finished her introduction and what they should be looking for in the projection Alison leaned her head back and watched the stars on the ceiling. If she was honest, she wasn't looking for anything or listening to anything else Professor Harrington might have been saying, she was just enjoying the view. Once it disappeared and the lesson came to an end Alison rubbed her eyes, impressed she had managed to stay awake the whole time, and made her way out of the classroom.

The previous Astronomy lesson where they had been able to go outside and actually stargaze had been a lot of fun for James and he was looking forward to seeing what Professor Harrington followed it up with. He made his way into the classroom and took his seat, Professor Harrington told them they would be studying how stars pass through the night sky but quickly followed this up by telling them they would be staying inside to do so. James was confused for a moment before Professor Harrington revealed a projection of the night sky on the ceiling of the classroom. He looked up at the classroom sky, watching the stars move as Professor Harrington talked them through what was happening. It was interesting but James couldn't take notes due to the position of his neck so he just watched and listened. The end of the lesson came all too soon for the Slytherin. When it did he packed up his things and made his way out of the classroom.

Saira looked up and watched as Professor Harrington manipulated the image to show them the stars. It was without a doubt that Emori was enjoying her time at Hogwarts. She was loving it here, she got to do so many wonderful things, and she had already met so many nice people, in her year at least. She was looking forward to start going to the clubs she had signed up for, and whatever events they planned. It was only the third week of the semester, but the Slytherin was eager to see what they were all about. Three clubs would probably keep her busy, and she wanted to just do things and get properly busy. Here, she would be able to do the things that she had missed out on when she was little, before she was adopted, so she wanted to experience that type of freedom. Em placed all the required textbooks in her bag before she headed to Astronomy, making sure to sit somewhere near the front as she did not want to be distracted during class time. She needed to learn to go to bed earlier the day before she had this class or at least take a nap during the day instead of explore the castle but the latter was too tempting to pass the opportunity. She took notes throughout the lecture and watched the demonstration of the enchanted ceiling. She loved looking at it it was almost mesmerising. The professor didn't mention any homework and Emori was perfectly fine with it. She packed away her notes and thanked the professor before she made her way out of the tower and headed to the dorms for a good night's sleep.
