Cyzarine was surprising herself by being rather nervous before her first charms class of the semester, she’d been looking forward to it for ages, ever since she’d known she’d be coming to Hogwarts New Zealand where her father taught, but she was nervous. What if he wasn’t how her mother had always described him? What if he wasn’t nice, what if he was a bad teacher, what if she was bad at charms, there were too many options that Cyzarine couldn’t help but think about. Too many possibilities that could happen which were dampening her mood overall. But she was taking the worry and trying to turn it into action, which despite it being so early in the semester meant that she was very eager to get started on the work for charms. She had set herself up in the student lounge with the charms book she had for this year and a few other more complicated ones she’d picked up from the library that she definitely didn’t understand and a whole load of parchments for notes. She’d go into that class reading and raring to just get started, no matter how dull and incomprehensible the other charms book was. She just needed to read it again and again and she’d eventually get it! She’d have to get it. It couldn’t be any more difficult than anything else that she had learned during her life prior to that. She took her wand in hand, since she was getting a bit bored and frustrated and practiced the lumos spell, that was an easy one, that she could do and it helped her feel a little bit more at ease than any of the complicated reading she’d done that was before her.

Selene had gotten into the habit of wandering the castle finding random places to stop and read. she had discovered the north tower the other day and knew that it would be one of her favourite spots but that didn't mean that she could not wander elsewhere. today she was wandering back from lunch in the great hall. first floor, along a corridor, up a flight of stairs, second floor, another corridor another flight of stairs, third floor two more corridors and a flight of stairs. the fourth floor, now around this corner should lead her to... "not the library" she said out loud as she entered the room. whilst it was clear that it was a room for students to relax in the number of books, or distinct lack thereof, meant it was not the library. she was on the search for a charm to block sound from getting out of the curtains around her bed. she had been in the library the previous day. the librarian, uncle Stefan, had pointed out the section for charms but they had started talking and she had forgotten her initial search but she could not get many more nights without a proper sleep. She saw that there was another girl in the room. "Sorry, do you know which way it is to the library?" she asked hoping that this girl might be a little older or more familiar with the castle and able to give her directions. she was fairly sure that it was this floor

Cyzarine looked up at the girl who was near her, she noted immediately before the girl spoke that she looked fairly tired. That was odd, the beds in the school was amazing. She hadn’t slept so well in ages! Though Cyzarine was spending each day keeping busy that she wouldn’t struggle to sleep at all. The first year nodded, ”I do,” she had come to learn where the library was in relation to where the student lounge was. She didn’t mind the library but it was a little stuffy for Cyzarine’s tastes. She liked the buzz of noise that could be in the student lounge, where they were able to make a little noise. It felt weird to be in a room where the point was to be quiet. She didn’t like it much yet, though Cyzarine was determined to do well so she would of course give it her best shot. She stood up, ”I can show you if you want?” Cyzarine offered, she wouldn’t even have to go that far in showing the girl. It was easy to confuse the two if you didn’t particularly know where one was. ”It’s not that far from here, like the next door down!” the girl had to agree that there was a lot going on on this floor that it might be easy to confuse the two. Or end up in one and miss the other.

Selene smiled when the girl said that she knew where the library was. she hadn't actually been to this room yet, it was like the common room but a little more relaxed. or at least fewer people. the girl seemed to be comfortable in the room and she didn't want to make her move. "that is okay. if it is just next door I should be able to find it myself. thank you" she said before turning and leaving the room.
Selene made her way to the library. found the section on charms that she had been shown the other day and checked out a couple of books that sounded helpful. the then returned to the room she had been in before. "Thank you" she said. sitting down on one of the free chairs. "I am Selene by the way," she said before opening a book called intermediate charming.

Cyzarine smiled at the girl brightly, ”Okay! Just come back to me if you need any more help or anything,” the girl said with a bright and friendly expression, she definitely wanted to make sure the girl got it, but if the other girl was adamant to do it herself then Cyzarine wouldn’t stop her. She just took her seat and got herself settled back into the work that she had been doing. It had lightened her mood, made her feel just a little bit better. It cleared her mind a little and she was focusing on her work a little better than she had been in the hour or so before. She hadn’t however expected the girl to come back, having clearly found the library and to sit with her, but it was definitely something she was very happy that had happened. ”You found it!” she exclaimed happily, as the girl introduced herself and opened a book, ”I’m Cyzarine,” the girl said to her with a smile, before she looked at the book which Selene had, ”What have you got there? Is it about charms?” from what she could tell it wasn’t one of the normal charms books they had for the class. She was sure that she hadn’t needed to get any other books for charms, but seeing this girl with a different one didn’t help her nervousness towards charms. They didn’t need anything else? Surely they hadn’t?

when the girl asked if she had found what she was looking for Selene nodded. "I hope so" she said. she wasn't sure. but she hoped that the two books she had selected would tell about a soundproofing spell. "Cyzatine, that is a cool name. where is it from" she asked.
Selene sat down and opened a book scanning down the contents page to find a relevant section. when the girl asked her if it was about charms. "Yes it is, this one is called intermediate charms. and the other is called the charmed home" she said. "what are you reading about?" she asked. wondering if the girl was doing homework that she had forgotten about. she didn't think that she had any from any of her classes yet, at least not proper homework that required reading books.

Cyzarine smiled at the comment about her name, "It's Russian, I'm Russian!" she told the other girl with a bright and friendly expression, Cyzarine liked her name a lot, and she loved that Selene liked it too. It was always nice to get little compliments from people that she liked. The girl was very curious about what Selene was reading but frowned a little when it was clear that this girl was reading spell books that were for way more advanced charms. Was she reading the wrong ones? Should she be aiming a little higher? Would she need to know more to impress her dad?! Cyzarine could feel her nervousness creep back up steadily, this wasn't good. "I'm just reading the introductory Charms book," she replied holing it up, her tone was still light and airy but it was clear that she was a little less cheery, "Are you really good at charms?" she decided to ask that, maybe this girl, whom she was sure got sorted with her was really good at charms and that was why she was reading such a book and not for any other reason. That would at least be a reasonable explanation and maybe make Cyzarine feel a little less bad about being at the introductory book of charms. Of course she wanted to be good at the subject but it would be okay if she wasn't the best at it.
