This lesson would be far more interesting than the previous, however for the misfortune of the students, Professor Styx was in a horrible mood. One could tell if they looked in his eyes and saw the fury, and that his arms were crossed, and looked very rigid. He was staring at the doors right now, as they opened to let the students in. Once they were all seated, the doors slammed shut, and Professor Styx forced all the thoughts he had except over the lesson aside as he did not need to have body bags on the side of his classroom if one student spoke out of term. Professor Styx was extremely controlled, and he had to be to keep his cover. Professor Styx said icily, "This lesson will be short for you, so count your blessings." Professor Styx knew that they would need to get as much information crammed into their tiny minds before the OWLs if they hoped to pass. "The OWLs are almost here and you need more time to study and less time to learn everything in as they are around the corner."

Pausing for a moment to get a deep breath, Professor Styx continued on with the brief lesson, "Today, we are discussing the Flagrante Curse." Looking over the students, he could see who knew the effects and those that did not. "The curse is known to burn whomever touches the object that it is cast on. This curse has been known to occasionally be used on valuable items in Gringotts vaults. This is likely one of the few curses we've studied that a simple 'finite' will not reverse, otherwise it would prove pointless, expecially at Gringotts." Professor Styx looked over the class, and he knew that he was done explaining the curse, but he did keep his promise to make sure the lesson was brief, and it was. "Essay over this curse, and have it turned in by the time your next lesson begins. Dismissed," ordered Professor Styx as the doors opened to allow the students to leave.

Assignment: Roleplay the lesson and do the homework assigned.

The loss for Gryffindor in the Quidditch match had been sad, but Fleur didn't let herself linger on it for too long. She was mostly sad that she hadn't actually gotten to play, though she understood why. She was proud of her brother, though, who had played. And he had done well too, which was good. Lars had been so unsure about it all, and Fleur was happy that he had done well even if it meant fewer points for Gryffindor. She just hoped Willow wasn't taking the loss too hard. It hadn't been her fault. Fleur was glad she didn't play seeker, it seemed like a lot of pressure.

Fleur made her way into the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom and immediately saw that Professor Styx seemed to be in a worse mood than usual. The man was never actually cheerful, but this seemed worse than usual. Fleur decided to be extra quiet as she took her seat, and was relieved to hear the lesson would be short. The professor then started on his lecture, and Fleur started to take notes. Today, they would be discussing the Flagrante Curse, which burned whomever touched an object it was cast on. Fleur noted down that it was occasionally used on valuable items in Gringotts vaults, which reminded her of the lesson about the Gemino Curse where the bank had also been mentioned. The lecture was indeed pretty short, and the explanation about the homework was as well. Fleur hurriedly jotted it down, then packed up her things and left the classroom. She was glad that the lesson was over, because she hadn't thought it was a very fun one. At least the semester was nearly over.

Theodore's duel with Edmund had been strange, but it had also been a turning point for him. It was too bad they had gotten caught and had gotten in trouble, but that was all in the past now. He realized he had to take steps to be by himself. He couldn't just let his anger about Edmund overtake him. He was even thinking of trying to make some friends, though how he wasn't sure about. Zoe was someone he thought about a lot, and someone he liked to spend time with. It was a little annoying, how often she was on his mind. But it wasn't unwelcome. The conversation he'd had with Kira Wolf also hadn't been entirely bad. Though he didn't think he was ready to consider her a friend by any means. It simply meant he was more open towards other people, and that was new for the boy.

Theodore always liked Defence Against the Dark Arts a lot, and definitely admired Professor Styx. He wished he was as intimidating as him. Especially today, when the professor seemed in an especially dark mood. Theodore took his usual seat in the back and grabbed parchment and quill for note taking. The professor told them they would be discussing the Flagrante Curse today, and Theodore was very interested. It seemed like a curse with a lot of dark implications, and he wondered how it was used by dark wizards. The professor only told them about the use at Gringotts, but he supposed he wasn't allowed to say any of the real interesting dark stories. Theodore noted down that the 'finite' spell would not reverse this curse, which was interesting. He wondered what Edmund thought about this all, but quickly dismissed that thought. He glanced at his brother, though, then turned his attention back to the professor. Theodore wrote down the homework, then rolled up the parchment and put away his quill. He left the classroom once the doors opened and they were dismissed.

Simon was feeling a little nervous about the upcoming exams, they were quite a bit away but he could help the budding nerves that he felt towards it. The teen had been working hard all of his school years, but he knew that none of that would matter if he didn’t also manage to do well during this year. He needed to do well during the OWL years to progress in all of the classes he wanted unhindered. He needed to do well to eventually be able to get a job, it didn’t help in his mind that he didn’t have the exams in this semester, he would’ve rather had them scattered so he’d know what he was getting in each of the classes. He just needed to get perfect grades. The boy wanted to do well, he wanted to perfect grades. The boy was getting himself ready for the day ahead, he was putting homework and books into his bag, he was making sure he had all of the notes and homework for the day ahead of him. Simon was working hard, as he always did, but there was an increased pressure this semester to really put in the work to do well. The teen grabbed his wand last and then headed out of the dorm.
Simon walked into the defence against the dark arts classroom and took his usual spot in the room. His gaze shifted up to the professor at the front of the room, where he noted the professor looked less than happy. Though really was that much different from any other day. The man was never happy. He was just always annoyed and bitter but the part-veela didn’t really care. The boy looked at the professor as the man got started, pleased that it was going to be a nice short lesson for them. He had been hopeful for shorter but informative lessons where they could learn plenty and be prepared properly for the upcoming OWL exam. The teen pulled his notes towards him and began writing down what the professor was saying about the flagrante curse. He was keen to get all of that information down and was not overly surprised at where it was used. The boy made sure to get all of the information the professor was saying down, nodding along lightly as he did so. The boy was pleased when the lesson wrapped up then, truly a nice short lesson. He packed up his things and then left the room.

Shane had a little lingering frustration from the week prior, it had just been a few annoying days and the boy was just bored with the semester. The teen was getting himself ready for the day, putting the things into his back that he would need for the lessons he had that day. Shane had enjoyed this term somewhat, it was different and more intense than the last, given that it was of course the OWL year. The hufflepuff knew he needed to do somewhat well in his classes during this semester so he was trying his best even if that was as the semester drew on getting increasingly boring. He made sure as he headed out of the dorm that he had everything. He had his books and his wand and was just ready for the day.
Shane headed into the defence against the dark arts classroom and took his usual spot in the room. His gaze shifted up at the man and he rolled his eyes lightly at the man’s attitude. This certainly wasn’t someone who engaged in the leave it at the door mantra that should be within the classroom. If he didn’t bring his baggage then nor should the professor. The hufflepuff pulled his notes towards him as the professor got started. He didn’t care if the lesson was nice and short, that wasn’t a huge deal to him. He sighed a little and just listened to the very short lecture that the professor gave, really only giving them the barest of information before wrapping up the lecture. It wasn’t like Shane cared all that much. He just packed up his stuff and then headed back out of the room. He could read in his own time if the professor really wasn’t bothered to teach them.
